They always seemed so unnatural. Like a forced product. One of the main reasons (really the top reason) people started wearing Jordans was because MJ was like a basketball super hero while wearing the shoe. That never happened in “Team Jordans”. 🤷🏾‍♂️

It’s a less-is-more ethos as well. The market is saturated with Team Jordans and 9/10 of them the design is unremarkable. Even mainline Jordans I can still identify a 30 for you, for example, but nobody wants to see the wall of Frankenstein Team Jordans at Foot Locker and nobody cares what most of them are. The brand should have at least marketed them farther away from the mainline. Have Jumpman be its own sub-thing.

Short answer: Bc most people would rather be trendy bandwagon hypebeasts in exchange for social acceptance, rather than have their own taste. It blows my mind how the so-called Jordan hybrids get bashed and put on the clearance rack for combining different design elements from classic models, yet Nike will mass produce some Off-white models with the exact same concept and people go crazy for em now. Jordan Brand and Nike make it hard for me to like the current Team Jordans with the tech and materials. My Jumpman Pro from 1997 is made out of real leather, a carbon fiber shank, and full length zoom like the Jordan 12’s. Now, they’re made with cardboard leather, and a thin zoom patch, and a cheap TPU designed as carbon fiber. Also, I tried on the Jumpman Pro Quick last week. After having them on foot for less than five minutes, I decided to save myself the $125. Spending half of that for a pair of Nike Air Monarchs would probably feel more comfortable on feet as those Jumpman Pro Quick felt like “crusted leather”.

Team Jordan's were worn just as much as the signature Air Jordan's. When the Jumpman Pro came out, everyone was wearing the black/royal, black/red, or white/navy colors, and this was while the 12s were still out and the 13s were on the way. As a kid, I assumed they were the next shoe after the 12 in the Jordan line because they looked similar.

Back in the day I enjoyed getting both Air Jordan's and team Jordan's depending upon styles and designs. Wasn't concerned about resale just enjoyed wearing them. But nowadays the shoe makers are cutting costs and lowering the quality of their products and yet charging more. I miss them old days. Great video guys!

Pro Strong, Jumpman Pro (MY PERSONAL FAVORITE), and the Team Jordan 1 were probably the best ones ever made on or off court. And the Jordan Jeter Vital was a good one too.

The problem with team Jordan’s especially now a days is no one wants the lower end of nothing! In a generation where kids parents are paying resell for shoes it just doesn’t look cool to rock budget models! I’m 32 my parents only bought kicks for the first day of school, Christmas, and my birthday and a lot of times 80-85 bucks was there max lol. Jump to today I’m guilty of buying my daughter shoes every other week and I don’t buy her budget models outside of vans, and I know we as parents today who couldn’t afford Jordan’s don’t look at the team models either because we can afford all the shoes our parents couldnt

I finally found the white OGs in my size! Found them on eBay for $5 starting bid. Got them for $5.50. They were in 8/10 condition. I restored and sanitized the hell out of them. I took a heat gun and let it blow over the bubbles, the yellow cleared away and u can see the red inside of the bubble now! I'm a yr younger than nightwing so I'm a team Js guy too lol

Guess it depends on where you grew up because in Jersey the Jumpman 1 and Jumpman 2 were respected just as any other jordan and NOBODY wore Jordan 1-8 at all. It was all about 11s, 12s, 13s, jumpman 1 and jumpman 2. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Aw man I wish I could've sat in on this topic! JB hasn't cared about the team line since around the time of the 17s. I think the J'Madness was the last good team shoe. However, they did have a bunch of clunkers like the Team Elite, Masterpiece and Showcase. The really good ones were the Pure Ballers, Camp 23, J'Madness... Man I can go on and on with this... but people hate on them cuz they aren't the flagship shoe AND JB doesn't even bother to put the effort in on them anymore. Plain and simple.

Remember the jumpman fbi? I think the team jordan shoes bring something different than just retros. And I hear a lot people say that retros aren't good to play ball in so I think it made sense to have a side piece that is made for basketball strictly. I miss the early 2000's 😪

Loved playing in the old Jordan's also. The one thing you have to admit is the newer shoes have better traction and seem to have better cushion, not Jordan's but the Kobes, Jordan 28s, 29s, KD 9, 10s... but yes the older basketball shoes would last longer

*Pro Quicks were fire and still fire today, i had them in 1999 and i bought them again in 2017* alos *the Pro Strong, the jordan team 1, and the jordan jumpman pro's were all great shoes! But OG Jordan 11 lows were fire in the 90's and still clean now with all the colors that were released in the last few years!

In middle school I had some red team Jordans and everyone thought they were nice af. I was a trend setter and my friend even bit my drip and bought the same team Jordan in a different colorway. Back then everyone just wore Vans so anything with the Jordan logo was all the same. Nobody even cared when I actually had Bred 11s and the real heat. Those first sc2s paved the way for me.

I honestly think it's a microcosm of what's wrong with society. The consensus (where im from) has always been Team J's are the "broke mans jordans" so ppl dont want to get clowned or thought less of. Personally I have always loved the older ones, buy all the OG colorways hell I even own Spizikes. I'm aware im the minority in that you could never hurt my feelings on something like sneakers though.

Its no longer an issue of price. Now a days the issue is availability. Most stores sell a super limited amount of retros. Randomly go shopping in the mall or online and those will be the only thing in stock. Champs, footlocker, and finishline all told me that air jordans size 11-13 would be limited to 3 pairs a size per store. And would no longer sell anything bigger than that.

I would also get clowned at for wearing flights in 4th and 5th grade but I would love them and never understood why they did that. I tried wearing J’s in 6th again, but I gave up in 7th and just started wearing Converse and Reebok and sometimes Nike. Now I’m in 12th and I’m looking forward to buying some Puma Slipstreams 😁

I actually do like some teams. A lot of times they come in colors they rarely realease on regular jordans like purple or green. Red and blue is fine sometimesand I get the nostalgia factor but I'd rather have a wider color selection and teams give me that. Plus you can get them way cheaper if you know whwere to look.

I grew up wearing a Jumpman Pro and they were comfy AF. However, for $185 now and no more carbon fibre shank plate - maybe not even full length zoom anymore underneath. I just can’t justify buying a pair now, even if I really want the same colour I had 20+ years ago. Rather just pay more for the 12 now, at least you get the tech and the iconic look. Might consider Jumpman Pro on sale, the plastic shank plates should still work decently in most cases.

Ive never really been into Jordan's but now expanding my horizons. What exactly is the difference between team jordans and regular jordans? I always thought Jordans had numbers like the 1s, 2s, 3s, etc....

That’s the main difference. An Air Jordan is one of the mainline signature models MJ would wear. Team Jordan’s are anything/everything else with a Jumpman.

I personally don’t like Jordans after the 13s. They just look like rip offs in those Chinese shops and as if they didn’t care anymore. Except for the 16s, I wouldn’t buy a 16 but they have a special place in my heart for some reason. All the rest just feel like they were going for the most outrageous look and nothing else. Which is sort of true because after Jordan quit they were focusing more in lifestyle rather than pure performance, at least for a while. And with the team Jordans it’s pretty much worse, because they feel like the watered down version of what I just said. Rip off looking minus the outrageous factor, so they look boring too.
