I have a KLR 650. I have to start it in neutral. When I pull in the clutch and put it into gear the motor stumbles and dies. The bike does not move at all?

Could be a number of things. Did you try adjusting the clutch cable? What is the idle RPM set at? If it's been sitting for at least a few months, it could be old gas/partially clogged pilot jet.

My bike is stalling every once in awhile while I’m stopped in 2nd gear with the clutch fully pulled in and will eventually stall when I have clutch fully pulled in going down hill. Bike also will not idle for to long although Would this be a combo of clutch needing to be adjusted and idle screw or just one of them?

Does gear oil make a difference ? My 125 did this but when I changed the gear oil it stopped

Yes, it can make a difference. Old oil can get sticky and cause it to drag. The difference in weights, as well as types of oils, can cause it to drag more or less. A lighter oil will generally drag less/slip more.

I’m using 80wt oil for my sons kx80 his bike turn off as soon as I put it into gear. And his idle is good

Mine stalls as soon as I put it into gear and I’ve installed a new clutch cable and inspected the clutch and everything looks fine i don’t understand why it’s doing this?

Is the cable properly adjusted? When is the last time you changed the engine/transmission oil?

My 2010 yz250f stalls when I put it into gear the first time(cold start) but after starting the bike up again it clicks into gear just fine? Why is that?

Sounds like the clutch plates are sticking. Could be old oil, sludge in the oil from not changing often enough, or just the wrong kind of oil for a dirt bike wet clutch.

My yz250f it’s a 2020 electric start I have to put the cold start in order to keep it idling and when I’m riding and I pull the clutch in it just cuts all power and dies but if I pull the clutch in and keep revving it it’ll let me keep going, I also raised the idle and that help me start it way easier but if the cold start is not pushed in it is not starting and I haven’t messed with the clutch adjustment yet

It's hard to know what the problem is over text. Sorry you don't feel well. So you have to keep the choke on to keep it running? How long did you ride it for?

Similar problem to me, Only when it’s cold when i pull in the clutch it dies but if i give it revs it’s fine and when it’s warm it’s fine. Have u figured it out?

If it's carbureted, that's pretty common when the engine isn't fully warmed up.

I have a hydrolic clutch and I can’t figure out how to adjust it and make it tighter because my dirtbike does stall when I put it into first gear

Have you tried bleeding/flushing out the system? There's also a chance that the plates are warped and just need replacing. The clutch is more or less a maintenance item, especially if you have a race bike.

So within my 2009 yz125 I put it into gear with the clutch pulled in. It’s tight enough but it acts like clutch drag but I stall. But I give it enough gas to not stall and I get moving but I hear a noticeable clink of clack.

Interesting. I think I'd want to pull the clutch cover off and look into it, especially if it's a new sound.

Hey i been watching your videos for a while now and honestly i gotta say i love the content because of you when i got my first dirt bike i was easily able to ride it as it was my first time but lately i had a problem with it when i go to change gears while in N and i shift down the bike into first gear it dont stall it steys runnin but dont move or anything jus the N light disappearing which indicates its been switched to 1st gear because i down shifted but it isn't in 1st gear i think its still in N because when i give it some gas it makes the noise like its reving but dont move an inch but then when i shift up it into 2nd gear in N or that false 1st gear it stalls that means 2nd gear nd im assuming the other gears work but 1st just dont wanna move jus revs. also if you have any social media i can contact you on so i can show you a video of the problem and i can get sum help because i really need this bike to work asap as i use it for school and work believe it or not Thank You.

​@@MotocrossHideout i mean it did tip over because i was gonna start an oil change on it left it alone on the kick stand went inside came back out with my tools just to see it laying on the ground because my drive way is step but after i changed the oil and made sure there wasn't anything wrong with the bike it rode perfectly fine but then later on the bike ran out of gas and i thought it had enough gas not knowing it ran out so i kept starting it and tried switching gears nd it would jus stall on me and at this time 1st gear wasnt acting like N,I also did keep switching while it was idle thinkin sum was wrong with it. so i finally checked the gas and realized it was empty and pushed it back home and got sum gas after that i didnt evan take it back out to ride it just left it in my garage then next day tried to ride it and then thats when 1st gear started acting like it was N

@@TyreekJake Hmm, it's hard to know for sure over text, but there's a chance that the shifter shaft may have gotten bent when it tipped over. It might've worked at first, but now it's too bent to get back into 1st gear. I'm not saying this is your issue, but it's happened to enough people before, unfortunately.

I have a yamaha 125 2 stroke and when i put the bike in 1st gear after pulling in the clutch, the whole bike lurches forward and then dies. Even if i never disengage the clutch. Just right after shifting gears. I thought i had a frayed clutch cable and i changed it to a new one today but the problem is still there. What could possibly be wrong with my bike?

If the cable is properly adjusted, it might be old/sticky oil or worn/warped clutch plates.

Starting up the bike with the clutch is fine, but when i put it in first gear with the clutch engaged it moves foward a bit and it stalls. The only way i could get it running is rolling forward with it and giving it throttle. But when holding in the clutch its not engine braking at all

That's common. Could just be the clutch plates sticking from sitting/oil oil.

Yeah if it worked fine before you changed something then it's almost always something that wasn't put back together right.

I have the same problem on my son’s yz125. It wants to stalk when dropped into first and you have to put it in neutral when starting. I have replaced everything with OEM : cable, basket, inner hub, fibers and plates, and the push rod is not worn down. The pressure plate releases with a large gap.

Is the clutch cable properly adjusted? kzbin.info/www/bejne/rni7iZmcbJJljLs Is the idle RPM set too low? What oil are you using in the transmissionn? If it's too sticky, that can cause the plates to stick, especially if it's old oil.

Thanks for the response. Yes I believe the cable is adjusted properly and I have ATF in there. Fluid new with the rebuilt clutch. I don’t think the isle is too low but I will play with raising it up some. This has been going on for a couple of years

Hi there buddy My yz250f is very very strange you see before it started having problems the clutch would not always fully engaging nor disengage I've tried new clutch cable, new clutch lever, new clutch basket (with clutch) the wiesco brand, and even tried adjusting from both the bottom and the perch up top but still nothing. For some reason if i try to shift to take off the second i hit the shifter down to 1st gear it dies. If i roll down a hill and hit 1st gear it will go awkwardly but once on the road when i push the clutch in and try to shift to 2nd or 3rd or 4th it feels like as if i am not pushing in the clutch at all even though and am squeezing the hell out of it up top. Downshifting is a little bit easier though. The last thing i can think of is the clutch actuator arm push lever thingy right above the shifter. I am not sure how much play it should have but I have noticed that it doesn't swing like other bikes. Any thoughts? I am not a pro but I like to learn a ton loads. Thanks

@@MotocrossHideout no but i did notice that when i assembled everything back to how it went before I bolted the cover back on. When i squeezed on the clutch to see it was pushing it doesn’t squeeze likes it supposed to. I am think perhaps a bad clutch pressure plate? I am not sure 🤔

It's hard to tell over text, but maybe something got installed in the wrong order? Did you happen to have an OEM service manual when reinstalling your clutch?

@@MotocrossHideout I pulled out the diagram from online and made sure everything was in spec and everything I’ve checked seem to be there.
