Just curious, I know that 80 weight oil is commonly used for the transmissions on these two strokes, such as Bel-Ray, Motul 80w etc. However I have wondered for some time why ATF fluid would not be just as good if not better? I can just assume that possibly the clutch simply wouldn't works as well? Curious of your thoughts on this.

What does it mean when your center clutch hub doesn’t spin freely by hand.

The issue for me is the plate doesnt even push out... how do i fix this??

The grooves in the clutch basket can be filed down if you know how. So you have a cheaper option than buying a new one.

Hi mate , my 2 pressure plates has shattered it’s a mess, only a 6 hour bike did it at a beach race a week ago. Any way. The plates has shattered every where all in the bottom of engine I have cleaned it out extremely well, there’s a little hole that I can see into the transmission with a light and I see the shattered plates on there also ? What would you do ? Also brill video thanks man

Thank you for the video. My small Yamaha R3 was tipped over to the transmission side during transportation and it has been staying in that position for a week or two. Now the clutch wont disenage. Even I changed the oil, warmed it up. Do yo have any suggestions on where to check for the problem? I appreciate your help. I plan to pull the clutch box apart and take a look. Already ordered new coolant since it was intergrated with the transmission.

Nothing I can think of just what I showed in the video as a general inspection
@hulong0205 Жыл бұрын
@@Dutters.dirtbikes it shifts up and down just fine. It would kill the engine on first gear. After warming up, it’s better. It seems the clutch is slipping. I’ll keep you posted. Thank you for the advice.

My engine oil is metal gray I was told bc the clutch plates is that true

Great ! Understand how it works a lot better now! I have a question.. if pulling the clutch in while all clutch is together theres absolute nothing happening and clutch is super soft? This is a hydraulic clutch, i took it apart and seen my pressure plate has cracked? Would this be the reason why theres no pressure in clutch? Thank you mate awesome video
@Dutters.dirtbikes Жыл бұрын
Yes it can because that pressure plate is the spring that grabs the clutch

You could try freeing the clutch plates by moving the bike in neutral and then going into gear as the bike is moving. Then change up and down to free plates.

When I let the clutch out (dirt bike) there is a now a moment (often) where its not engaged, then after a second it will seem to lock up and engage finally. The clutch has many hours, but I'm asking if this very specific action is pretty common when the clutch is going out, or would it likely be something else?
@Dylan.99 Жыл бұрын
Mine starts do bog out trying to get to first is that what your saying is happening to yours
@bikersoncall Жыл бұрын
@@Dylan.99 I don't remember exactly, now, I adjusted the clutch as far out as I could so that it would lock up better, but shift harder. I bought a new bike right about that time, within a couple weeks, and stopped riding it, I only start it up and cruze around the yard to keep the carb and seals from gumming and drying out now. I hope you get yours sorted out. When you say 'bog' out, are you referring to clutch/trans or carb? If you feel like it's not getting into gear correctly, if you haven't already tried, adjust that clutch cable in and out and see what happens, make the first adjust at the engine and finish off the fine tuning at the clutch lever ferrel.

@@bikersoncall Im referring to the clutch and thank you
@bikersoncall Жыл бұрын
@@Dylan.99 Right, mine was so far eaten up, hundreds of hours, I think there was very little left. I stripped out one 'LAME' as hell phillips, lol not allen, or standard, and wound up abandoning putting my new plates on. New bike showed up meanwhile.. hope you get it sorted out, post back with results. Take care....
