In elementary school we got a visit from someone we called the yoyo man (dfw area in Texas- Richardson specifically if anyone knows) dude got us all interested, in hindsight might have been a Duncan rep cause we all bought Duncan shit from the dude. I was too poor to afford a ball bearing one which he sold at 15 a pop (2005). I never learned how to sleep or anything but I could make a basic yoyo go up and down. Last week on Saturday I found a butterfly in a gift shop with a free axle so I could sleep it. 5 days, 3 yo-yos later and I’m working on side mounts and string tricks I keep coming back to these videos because it feels like I need to watch them to avoid some obvious mistakes but I can see why people might skip them. Even if you know there’s probably more to learn in the basics there’s something to be said about just how immediately drawn I was to the side mount video to start

Subscribed yesterday Got a yomega fireball responsive yoyo wednesday And I was experiencing this issue And I broke it down to me throwing crooked somehow and was starting to land straight sleepers Then i found this video A little on the late side but confirms my crooked throws Its saturday So my 3rd day and I only got 2 tricks I can perform Bow and arrow/Robin hood And rock the baby But my rock the baby is a 2/10 success rate I thought I might make a video of my progress because it might help beginners learn from another beginner But ill have to perfect a few tricks and get the basics techniques down

Thanks for the tips. Answered my question. I want to get the Sage ball bearing yoyo. I just got back into it after 40 plus years, and bought the yomega spectrum, for the lights, but it has a transaxle. Just doesn't perform how I'd like. Is the Sage still available or is there a newer one similar? Oh, I came for the leaning issue. 😁

The sage is still available. If you are looking for a yoyo just to do classic tricks I would suggest the Fizz. You will find it is a huge improvement over the Spectrum. If you would like a yoyo that can do the classic stuff but you can also upgrade to play unresponsive for more modern advanced tricks go for the Sage Yoyo Starter Pack.

Important question: I have a summer solstice with a stuck bearing. The bearing itself will spin but on side is stuck to the seat of the yo-yo and it won’t come off. How do I fix that?

Does it matter where I place the string on my "yoyo finger" I have always put the loop on my finger like you would wear a ring , but I see a lot of people place it near the first knuckle or a little above it , is there a benefit to doing it that way opposed to how I am doing it??

Yes, the yoyo will roll easier when thrown, also there is more control as you can flick your finger, either for string or looping tricks. However some well known looping players have put the string on the base and loop just fine. I think I first started yoyoing doing it from the base, but when I watch well known players in tutorials putting it on the second knuckle, I forced myself to get used to it, and I'm glad I did. It takes some time to unlearn arguably "bad" habit, but it's worth it in the long run.

Probably either bad brake pads or you need to put thick lube in the bearing. I recommend replacing the pads and freshly lubing it

Try putting a little bit of lube or yoyo oil on the bearing, it helped me out so I hope it'll work for you

That will happen if your string is not perfectly centered in the yoyo, like if you are using a CenterTrac or a Flat bearing. The other cause is if the weight of each half of your yoyo is very different.

@@yotricks one more question, just to clarify... it is normal that in a 1 min spin my yoyo twists 90-180 degrees if im not doing tricks and maybe 45-90 degrees in 1 min while im doing tricks? Thanks for your 1st answer!

That can definitely happen depending on your string tension, the kind of bearing, and the weight differential between the yoyo halves.

My only guess is that you are either putting the string on wrong, or using the wrong kind of string... or the yoyo may be broken somehow. Do you still have the transaxle in it. If you lost that small piece your yoyo won't work.

Mine will start sleeping fine but it will always at some point start to spin or lean. It was a highly rated yoyo for beginningers so I'm guessing its just me.

That usually happens when a yoyo is spinning slowly. If you throw with more spin that will happen less. It is also caused by too much string tension.

It's not me, and it's not my yoyo. I've been using this one fine since I got it, performing tricks as usual. Now, suddenly, every time I cast it, it goes at a cocked angle. It's not string tension, either. It just suddenly stopped working, for absolutely no appearent reason.
