In this video, I'm going to be testing out how strong Otis is by playing him through the Reverse Nuzlocke Challenge! My biggest question right now, is why does Otis struggle so much in the current meta?! Is he any good, or is he completely dependent on the map and which enemies he's playing against?!

Only time it’s really helped me so far is when Tara has super charged with my team counting down in gem grab, and then someone with super charged in brawl ball OT, but a lot of the time they can just walk it in.

Otis’s star power and gadgets aren’t really great (second ones are definitely gonna be better), and has only mid dps. He kind of feels like Lou in the attack and super is just a more situational version of a stun

Second star power is leap years a head of the first star power. It's probably one of the strongest if not the strongest star power in the game. With the additional projectile you deal 33% more potential damage and can also have the potential to charge super 33% faster. Also increases burst damage output when you silence someone. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets nerfed like sprouts star power or Eve's star power where it only works once every couple of seconds. Otherwise the first star power needs a buff or a rework.

@@shiyanth 1 extra projectile wouldn't make much of a difference, his shots still move in a weird angle like Lou's so it's hard to hit even with 4 projectile and he gets out ranged by most of the meta brawlers.

The Problem with Otis is that, his damage is low and reload speed is not fast, if in a close match-up, he can't finish of any higher hp brawler even he uses his super and attack and The Tanks can easily kill Otis then .. I think when His Second StarPower come, He will be better but not op right now..

It's bad design for the brawler to rely solely on a specific gadget/star power to be relevant and then getting stuck with prepicked builds instead of having multiple viable gadgets and star powers, otherwise what's the point of having those in the game anyway. It's like when surge wasn't playable unless with the blink gadget so they just bit the bullet and baked it in. No one was ever going to choose any other gadget.

Otis really needs a gimmick other than this silencing super. Dont get me wrong, it's good, it's just a weaker version of stun's effectiveness but it lasts longer. So I prefer his basic attack gets a some kinda gimmick like Lou's. Add some kinda meter, once the meter is full, he steal some of the enemy's ammo would be really interesting.

They really need to get rid of that first gadget. I really thought it was a star power at first. It's way too passive and forgettable you're only left with Otis's weak main attack and a super that's still a bit situational (like Gene's super. You can't just use them any time)

Maybe the enemies ammo getting sticky with the the paint and not being able to reload would be cool, that way he could chain it with his Super, could lead to some actual skill dependent use of spacing and timing to shut people down for a longer period and make more matchups skill dependent

He could have just been another damage dealer like colt where his super is a burst attack of paint but instead of a straight line its a large spray and leaves paint puddles on the ground. If the person steps on the paint puddles they will leave colored foodsteps which can make finding enemies easier in bushes and invisible ones. A starpower could make it so that the paint puddles can slow down enemies. Another idea is that if you get hit with the super paint burst, you will get blinded and won't be able to see your screen.

I love how everytime supercell release a new chromatic brawler,it's either gonna be very weak or can be insanely strong,for example colette with those 7 emergency buff in her first release because she's doing very bad in every gamemode at the moment like bruh,and fang almost dominating every gamemode only to get nerf into the ground after the season.

@@coolan- he did kind of. It's just they nerfed multiple stats just a little bit. He's still viable cause of his mechanics. They nerfed his hp, super dmg, his super no linger works on spawnables, his second gadget's stun was reduced to half a second.

Balancing a brawler is not the easiest thing in the world, but I feel like Supercell would’ve gotten at least better at doing so after all this time. Also I wonder if Carl can go one update without his projectile speed changing every single second.

I’m fairly certain with his second gadget/star power, Otis will feel a lot better. The super charge rate is really low knowing for now it’s 12 hits and each attack only does 3 unless you have his second star power. That second star power reduces the charge rate from 4 ammo to 3 ammo. That and paired with the health and damage nerfs he received before release, and Otis just doesn’t do enough damage or has a lot of health. He’s just like Lou, where everything is mediocre/bad except for his super. Kinda fitting too as his attack is very similar to him lol

Thought Otis would be a solid brawler and made the mistake of maxing him out. People may disagree, but this is a great example of why SC shouldn’t nerf brawlers before they’re released. Instead, they should see how the brawler performs in game among the player base and then use an emergency nerf if needed.

They have dev builds where content creators give feedback on brawlers before an new update is released. They nerfed Bonnie before she came into the game, and that's good, because she's balanced now, she was too strong in her assassin form in the build

She has a insanely short reload speed, A short reload time, and if you're too close to the enemy, you can miss a grenade or two because her shots are strafed like Bo's. This is why when you play Bonnie, it is crucial you know when each mode is proper for the situation.

This is very tangentially related to this video, but with every slow, push and stun ability in the game,AND NOW with Otis and his super, the melee meta… there are no melee brawlers that are remotely top 10 (let alone top 5). Hopefully supercell does address in the next set of balance changes(which is probably in August)

Me here having lvl10 Otis with damage gear against lvl7s and below and still struggling a lot against them and only got stars player once through dozens and dozens of matchs. It's safe to say that he's been enrfed to the ground even before being released

This might be a weird suggestion but a gadget similar to Janet's first gadget should combine with Otis' first gadget. It would turn his next super into a small jump and when he lands he inflicts the silence, but reduces to 1.5 seconds to not be broken (2 seconds with first star power). A small area of effect would be applied to an area and could potentially silence an entire team. It would change how Otis would be played, but I have always been interested in the idea of a mid-range assassin, kind of a support assassin. It's more of a pipe dream than a real suggestion.

His attack is pretty comparable to Max's attack with a little more range and slightly more damage, but he can't really use the range to his advantage because of the high spread lowering his damage a lot. The super is good on paper, but in practice it's a stun but your opponent can move and it's a skill shot. This means that it's really hard to get value off of it at a range, so there are much better options. Dynamike's gadget stun, for example, pairs way better with his kit because he can actually capitalize on the stun at a long distance, and it's on a gadget so he can use it when it's needed and still use his super without missing out. Otis needs to hold on to his stun, and it's really weak, so it is bad.

@@weirdbutgood7810 Actually, I use his super strategically. I only use it either when I'm alone with someone, or when there are alot of people trying to chase and kill me. When there are a bunch of other people chasing me, I'll use my super on one of them and then use them as a human shield, then just kill them when they're low enough for me to one-shot. This happens way more often than you think.

Great video! Otis is.... well, he has potential! I think he's cool, but assuming that Supercell buffs/reworks him, I'd love to see something more than extra damage. The past few Brawlers have been high-DPS, and it'd be awesome to see something new. We need more hybrids, like Lou! (Who's one of my favorites).

If Otis’ super also could prevent blocked enemies from reloading ammo, maybe then it’d be OP. Otherwise, enemies are reloaded by the end of the super, making them a threat again.

When I first unlocked Otis, I thought he was super strong. I played him on the train map for gem grab and the brawl ball map that was shown during this video, and he was OP. When he has good line of sight and his targets have to scramble for cover, has the advantage. I also got to use him a lot on split and he was a powerhouse.

I think that what also makes it impractical is that it takes a relatively lot of gunshots to charge, presumably reducing the number of shots required to charge the super, or at least increasing the silence time of players up to an extra seconds.

Honestly, brawl stars went to the ground with Otis’ character. He isn’t fun, his main attack is boring and weak, and I think they need to add at least 1 damage per second to the super to prevent healing, and also reloading

I suggest that reload of otis increases and the gadget 1 becomes passive, but only one starfish can be left on the ground idk should they buff the super recharge speed, maybe its dependent on how much the reload is buffed

I feel like Otis is a bit below average imo. And im happy of it cuz FINALLY no META Chromatic haha XD! But he when he get his 2nd SP and gadget he gonna be better, and a slight buff i reccomend maybe health. (Btw this META tabks are gettin smacked! Hope theres gonna be a good balance towards them (and nita) )

He could have similar thing to lou so if he '' frozes''enough like lou, brawler would have similar effect to his super. Or his super could deal damage over that 3 seconds or slow down to make caught brawler easier to hit

This makes me really sad because I love the ocean and the creatures in it so when Otis released he became my favourite design wise but they then coupled him with bad super charge, bad damage, slow reload and somewhat bad gadgets

I think otis is goiing to be helpful in power league, when you'll use hie against a Tara for example, on a hot zone or gem grab map. But playing 'normal' matches, you can't be sure he'll come in handy

If Supercell didn't nerf him, he would have been way too strong & terrorized the meta. Then people would claim that Supercell is trying to release OP Brawlers in the Brawl Pass for money, then nerf them later.

I totally understand that but, the point of the game is having fun and usually gemers spend their gems on the brawl pass in order to get to the new brawler faster wishing that at least that he or her will be decent, but with the new ( collet ) it is as bad as having a broken brawler😭😭😭

He needs a definite buff ! Atleast one of the listed options are needed: 1)Longer than 3 second enabling 2) when star power is used the other person is blocked from firing for 3 seconds plus cannot use star power until they respawn 3) attack needs to cause more damage Also when Otis was first presented I thought it was a given that if his super missed it would lay as a trap. I should need a star power for this. For these reasons yes Otis is awful.

Just a thought for the next reverse nuzlock... Do the nuzlocke from 700-800 or 600-700 so you can upgrade the brawler to power 11. Also I think It would be more entertaining to see more skilled gameplay

Here’s an idea, when Otis hits a target with his attack they become “painted” meaning any damage they do to other targets heals Otis . This would only last for 1 ammo after being hit (even for amber)

I think Otis current star power works will with fast or aggressive brawlars like mortis or Darrel ,He can use his super on someone and then mortis could dash them and with the star power the mortis has more time to kill them

He is good,but he’s a damage dealer, so i feel like he would do most of the damage and get his super while his teammates finish the people that he got at low health

I've actually bought Brawl Pass this season, and from what I've played with Otis, I think that he is a really good Assassin's counter, because they are generally short range brawlers with less hp than tanks. Although, he really struggles against tanks because of low damage and long range brawlers because at distance he only can hit 1/2 projectiles, and also his Super is slow to charge up and difficult to hit at distance. His best gamemodes are probably Brawl Ball and Hot Zone and generally he will be good if enemy uses Assassins. Maybe he would be good in Siege (pls comeback Siege) because his Super cancels the damage of the Siege and of the Bases

I found a good showdown map for him and was able to push him to 800 trophies, but he is super weak. Higher dps or higher super charge rate or both would make him so much more viable in many situations.

I used the same rules and pushed him to 600. Otis is meta. He thrives in hunters an with level nine, the chip can be the reason you win a heist or a gem grab or a brawl ball. I suggest keeping range and auto aiming your super

his attack is just really difficult to hit like lou, and unlike lou's attack which can at least stun you and once you get the super you can cycle it easily , it isn't possible with otis and he just remains as a 1v1 brawler whose super can be avoided by most brawlers with their gadgets or just move around the walls so that otis can't hit you and then after the super is gone, you can easily go aggro on him. The only brawlers i see him being good against is mortis, stu and buzz when they go aggro in gamemodes like bounty or gem grab around the end to make the comeback plays.

I pushed my Otis easily to rank 20 in one day so I find Otis really fun and easy to play but I do think that the second star power will definitely help him

I just wish they change him a bit. I feel like super charge rate is a bit too slow in a game. I feel like the starfish should do something like 50 damage just like rasa's gadget so that you can see if you hit someone in bushes. Many times I would hit someone, but I wouldn't know until they leave bushes and I see. I also think the starfish should prevent players from shooting a brawl ball. There are already many things they prevent brawlers from scoring such as sprouts super, and while you can no longer shoot with Otis super, you can still walk it in. Honestly I just want a rework.
