Says a lot about Troy Bradshaw, as he was basically the Boss'/Playa's Guardian Angel. Troy showed a lot more loyalty than Julius or Dex ever did, as he was the one who protected The Boss from death on two occasions, and doesn't take action towards the Saints out of guilt and the loyalty he found while undercover. Troy also ordering inmates and guards to leave Johnny alone also says a lot about his character, even if Johnny tried to smoke Troy. That moment when an undercover cop showing more loyalty compared to an opportunist who thinks they're smarter than everyone and a leader who rode the coattails of his childhood friend.

The boss actually planned to kill Troy it’s hinted in a lot of saints , pedestrians, and police dialogues throughout the game on free roam. What changed the playa’s mind was when dex told playa Julius whereabout and how he set the playa up. If it wasn’t for the tape recordings you find in the secret mission “Revelations” The boss would’ve probably went out for Troy. In some dialogues you can hear his Hispanic voice say “Troy better hope he got a lot of protection” and a police officer will insult you sometimes by saying “If you try to come for the chief I’ll gun you down my self” and some saints members will ask the boss at the end of the game questions about going after Troy after you kill Dane Vogel. I believe they scrapped the idea of actually confronting Troy for unknown reasons. Or to save room for a side story in saints row the third but by that game Troy is pretty much left out of the story .

I think a key reason for Troy’s behaviour is the fact that he is a cop. He has morals. It’s somewhat like Wei Shen. Wei couldn’t have betrayed the Triads whom he considered friends (Jackie, Winston), and in the end was devastated by their death. Troy did what he could to preserve the remaining Saints, and made sure those he was personally attached to were spared. In some ways, his loyalty to the Saints is somewhat a testament to Julius’ charisma. He affected Troy greatly, even if he wasn’t supposed to care about his friends.

Amazing Job of telling why Troy was the most honorable person despite being a rat. Troy was the one that not only save The playa/Boss and Johnny life, but also made sure that they didn't get as much heat as they should've gotten. Also when you think about it he actually was worried for Lin as well. As also being undercover he'd knew the risk and what would happen if one was caught and probably didn't want her to be found dead(despite it being the case). If you really think about it Troy never really turned in his Flags, but instead just took a step back and became their support when the need arises. Which says a lot more than Dex who joined a more powerful gang at the first chance, and Julius who'd basically betray his morals and everyone and became the very thing he sought to get rid of (even after the time skip).

There's an actual reason he never personally betrays the playa. Julius blows him up so he blames Julius as the reason the saints fall he was a coward, as soon as Dex drops his flags and sides with ultor he tricks you into dying in a masako ambush. What puts troy above them both he never wanted to arrest the player, he actually keeps you alive while in your coma out of respect that he still has despite what side he's on, and you can even call him in as a homie it's even implied thier still cool and close friends because even though he's a cop he never held any Ill will towards the playa he doesn't even try to disappear or hide his involvement with them the stillwater p.d. when you wake up. Hell, SR3 treated the 3 gangs as obligatory thing, the three gangs were basically two gangs that were subservient to the third, leaving it with there being only one actual gang, no fighting three different gangs at the same time like the pervious games. To think that years back, I and others have thought we were going to deal with Dex in the third game, would've been something if they incorporated him in STAG as like his own private army and so on.

I’ve never played saints row, but I never thought it was this deep. I’m gonna have to start from the beginning and work my way up.

Man, watching these older SR1/SR2 cutscenes really reminded me of why myself (and presumably plenty others out there) cared so much about the story, writing, and characterizations of the first two games. It was just done so much better than 3 & 4 (and I like those games too. Aspects of them, anyway lol.) 3 & 4 are mostly just about "moments" without anything substantial to really tie them together in the interim. You get these giant whacked out "CrAzY" scenes but that's all they really are and wind up being. The first two games had tons of foreshadowing, hints, and long-term story elements that were paid off later on rather than everything being immediate. It's a shame Volition never managed to really hit that level again after SR2. Here's hoping with the new game, but my expectations aren't high.

Right? In 2 even though there were separate storylines going on with the different gangs I got the one great story of trying to reclaim Stilwater but our gang wasn't just a gang. We cared if our ppl got hurt, there was loyalty and respect. 3 was "oh you guys are in trouble. I guess I'll save you for some reason." I would've loved actually witnessing Shaundi go from party girl to serious because she's freaking with her survivor's guilt. But she's cast to the wayside for Kenzie. They don't even use her many connections with exes, friends, and dealers like before.

Honestly I see Saints Row in "2" Eras. The older Era, where they're about the Gang Banging lifestyle, almost like a GTA:SA (GTA SA also kind of having that characterization and a Rags to riches story) and Saints Row 3-4 being more about the Saints being Established now. They're not a Gang, they're an Empire. They got resources, they're at the top, and they go even further beyond the top. I feel like with SR3/4 you couldn't really tell a comparative story to SR2, so they didn't, but they focused on the gameplay, and made that more fun and compelling. Plus I'll say this, for as much hate as I know SR4 gets, nothing will replace that moment of the Boss finding Johnny Gat, stopping his simulation, and then going and doing an activity with him with "the Boys are back in town" playing in the background. And SR3/4 has those little moments in that stick with you. I think all 4 games have something that they're good at, that people will find fun, and it's why like, after SR4 Volition lost its soul. like with the new reboot coming out, and it literally just.... being something that makes SR4 look good and fun. Say what you want about SR3/4 but atleast it still had the soul of SR1/2.

I love a lot the cutscenes in Saints Row, since they are all made with motion capture, so they look natural, and what i love is that even cutscenes that show action and fights use motion capture so it looks more epic, natural and realistic

Amazing explanation as always. Troy was more loyal to the boss than Julius and Dex ever were.

Bro this video was dope! I always wondered about Troys motives but looking at this he’s basically Niko Bellic when it comes to loyalty only difference he is a cop and is torn on which side to lean on yet in the end even though he is a cop he still thinks like a gangster

@12:40 And that was the reason for why Dex went to the TeeNay to confront Troy about being a cop. So then Dex went on still being a member of the saints so that Noone would find out and kill him. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW

Even in the 2nd game i feel like troy and the playa/boss have some kind of weird mutual respect for eachother its like troy knows that the playas loyalty towards the saints is in regards to literally saving his life and the playa knows that troy deep down still has some love for the saints

At the time I never really pay attention to Troy I just want to take over but now looking back Troy was solid even tho he was a cop doesn't change the fact what he did for the Saints he could've killed the boss but didn't he stay loyal

Let's not forget that Troy lets you play around on the fuzz TV show impersonating a cop. After you do the one fuzz set you get infinite pistol ammo which I always assumed was because Troy would just send extra ammo shipments to the saints.

i had come across a video. made by the creators of Saints Row. saying that the end of saints row is not canon. because it was supposed to be julius in an alley bloody. not standing there watching the explosion then walking away. the creators said the motion capture people liked there own idea better and the motion capture people put there own in the game instead without telling anyone.
@imonke5303 Жыл бұрын
Julius is the one that took the Playa in, not Troy, Troy didn't want to recruit the Playa, it was Julius who gave the command and had you cannonized, he is right to believe he saved you that night even if he isn't the litteral savior (troy killing the vk)
@HP_5942 жыл бұрын
Is it just me or Franklin & Dex are somewhat similar? Both are two bit thugs who want to rise to three-bit gangsters, however, while Dex does betray the Saints, Franklin stays true to his roots and saves Lamar, even though he’s a big guy and all.
@roosgambino2 жыл бұрын
11:25 this could be a hint about the Julius mission since you have to get dex's phone number from Troy's office at the station, which would mean the boss did follow through on trying to confront him.
