I'm convinced there is a bit of weight play from each different engine. The basic v8 engine on the Murcielago feels way floatier to drive than the v12 even though the top speed/0-60 is relatively the same.

Nah you are 💯 correct on the sounds. The 4.0 V8 cross plane is a step down in almost every way from the 6.2 V8 except for tech. It sounds worse, has less power per cubic cm disregarding the turbos, is a downsize, is less characterful, and has become way too common.

Tbh I actually like the kit. It's an out there kit that pushes the limit so why not like it. Better than having no kit and its different.. also.. I have built the coupe version for a a+ race car to complete one of the challenges. and I am running that other kit that you think is ugly pants. But again another kit I love haha. It reminds me of the old clk dtm cars back in the day but on a newer Mercedes. And I think it looks awesome! Also not a bad car to race either.
