that pickup is a hot rail, it's basically a humbucker the size of a single coil, it really pairs well with the warmer sounds of a rubber bridge.

Switching to flatwound strings is another awesome (and simple) way to get a thumpy and darker sound. Also, I can't help but point out that you look _a lot_ like Victoria Pedretti. 💛🙂

I wonder if you can replace the rubber bridge with a more standard bone one in case you grow tired of a muted sound.

Nice but you should try the Gretsch Jim Dandy. Same parlor size and looks but a much better tone by far.

I wanted a new American made guitar and this was at the top of my list. Its been 30 years since my 86 Washburn purchase.I saw it on a "GuitarZerotoHero" video and he talked about the California based designer. My neighbor happened to have one along with the three other American standards. Felt and sounded great, with an awesome price point. The "made in China" sticker in the sound hole made me utter an expletive. Great guitar if this is not a deal breaker for you. It actually felt better than my neighbors Gibson, Taylor and Martin. He feels the same.

A lot of critics here that don’t like this guitar. I’ve played them just a bit and think they have their good points. I don’t imagine many people would have one as their only guitar. It’s a kind of a special use instrument, for certain songs and playing style. It doesn’t ring out, so you wouldn’t use it for big sound strumming. When I tried one, I found I went straight to finger style, playing single notes, etc. I could imagine using it in a band for comping, etc. It’s not the same as just going to flat wound or dead-sounding strings. It’s its own thing.

I'm unimpressed, it sounds muted as you said. You can get this sound with flatwounds in any guitar, not a new thing. Clarity is very important in an acoustic guitar, IMO.
@jomiran1000Ай бұрын
I have this guitar in my collection as well as another I modded myself. It really is best suited for picking not strumming. It is also great when you combine the electric input with a mic input and pass them through a nice reverb.

Probably good for percussive stuff, but too dead for my liking. A shorter scale folk guitar already has faster decay and is punchy enough for me.
