Yep, all the mini strats don't have enough room to place the traditional front mounted strat jack so they have it moved to the side of the body like a Tele or Les Paul. The rounded edges/corners don't leave enough room for a Tele or LP style jack plate either. This is not a wrong answer as I thought it would be more fun to be no fun.

The older Mini Strats had the jack on the front like a normal strat. They just changed their approach to them in the present.

I own a Squire mini Strat. It does not have this feature. It has the typical Strat bathtub style Jack.

I have a 2008 mini strat that doesn’t have the cavity. The output jack is on the front like a regular strat.

Spotted the lack of the traditional jackplate, assumed the back plate was for that. Same jack as Ibanez guitars.

All of the new 2021 Contemporary strats have this thing instead of regular strat style jack, it's quite nice in my humble opinion.

This is not a Stratocaster mini. this is the Squire Bullet mini. (also called Stratocaster mini or Squire mini) the only way to know is by the serial number. (or the jack placement, in this case it's a bullet version).

Not sure if I ever saw a plate over a hole just for output jack. But…. The 2000(ish) MIK Peavey Raptor Plus has the same output jack “PLACEMENT” on the body… without the plate/hole, so I have seen that style jack on a strat.

The Yamaha bass I keep at church has the same style output jack. Not a fan of that style. I'm onto my second one and yesterday it was loose again and caused me grief during the last song. Cavity on the back is much larger as it holds the pots but yeah I figured they decided to fit a barrel jack when I saw the plastic plate.

HEHEHE enjoyed that, Jem guitars from Ibanez use them on modern models for the 1/2 Barrel jacks, as soon as I seen it I was "ah Hell No, they didn't" Ibanez Jems do it a little better though as it is at an angle to make tucking the cord a bit easier with loop in the Strap behind you. They probably had to do it because the Body was way to thin for an angled boat jack or the Football/Square on the side. Switchcraft makes real real good ones, also fun fact, you can put a stereo Barrel Jack in it and put a toggle on the inside to allow it to do mono or stereo, from there you can use a splitter to have your guitar go into 2 separate AMPs, It has some fun effects especially with pedals..Ever dreamed of running a Blues Jr and a deluxe reverb at the same time? Now that I mentioned it Landon the power of Guitar Jesus compels you......seriously though try it out you can do some really funky stuff.

The miniStrat. Now, the mini people have guitars to play. Nice light blue on it and it looks like a fun guitar for a child (or a mini person) to start on instead of a regular adult-sized guitar where the scale is just too large. Looking forward to the minidive!

The only thing weird about it is (it has the typical strat input jack location) somebody flipped over the input jack stamped metal part. It still worked when I plugged it in. It’s got an outy instead of an inny lol.

Yeah, it wasn't hard to figure out. They are cool to put a full sized neck on. You have to move the hard tail a bit to intonate. Well on the old style one with the jack in front.
