On the whole "nes was too weak for yoshi" thing, it should be noted that the hackrom Super Mario Bros 3 Mix, which can be played in a retail NES/famicon in a cartridge, has a fully functional yoshi in it. Then again, the mad lad that made that thing made a hackrom in assembly. Also, holy shit green yoshi is agumon in that anime.

This brings me overwhelming amounts of joy. Thank you for covering this. I’m in my mid 30’s and I loved Yoshi’s story, Super Mario world and many of the other N64 Party games up until modern games on the Switch. To see the voice actors of these characters is incredible
@rockerblast8192 жыл бұрын
There was also another commercial where Yoshi sounded different. The commercial shows people running from him and as we see him, Yoshi goes "Meep". And then at the end when he's with a boy on a bench, he says it again. So that's another voice to mention.

Very interesting video! I have noticed though that in one recent game where Yoshi is playable (Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle) Yoshi does not sound at all like the voice we used to and love, but more like a cat. I suppose Ubisoft did not use nor have access to his sound collections.

I belive Totaka also recorded new lines for Mario Strikers. The game features a lot of fun and expressive voice clips. Some of which we haven't heard outside of the strikers games.

Not just Strikers, a lot of spinoffs since strikers have had new voice clips recorded for them.

I've always wondered how much he sped up the recordings to sound like Yoshi, but I'm glad they're not endlessly reusing the same voice clips, MK8 Yoshi finally had some unique voice lines again for instance :P (afaik at least)

@@brendanintheuniverse1910 Yoshi *_*NEEDS*_* new/more grunts, yells, etc. if we *_EVER_* want different coloured Yoshi characters to have their own individual, unique voice clips for the same types of grunts, yells, etc. by Kazumi Totaka in Nintendo video games - especially for the _Mario Kart 8 Deluxe_ video game; where there are 9 different coloured Yoshis as playable characters, but all 9 of them currently share the *_exact same_* Yoshi voice clips (as well as winning, losing, etc, animations)!

My guess for Yoshi in the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie: He will speak in broken English since he just hatched and needs to learn proper English. But he still makes Totaka’s sound effects whenever he’s happy or scared.
