I say this as an Aussie that is in love with the UK scene. When I first heard it I thought it was dead. I think I was really jarred by the accents after only really listening to American music (I used to think Aussie rap was dead for the same reason). But then I listened to Jme’s album Integrity> and that’s what hooked me. I think once you get used to the sound it is hard to not be a fan.
