Fittest person I know is a Navy Seal who looks completely normal with clothes on and doesn’t like to swim but is still good at it😂 Even his friends say he was the fittest guy and the youngest guy and they all look like super fit NFL players trying to get on duck dynasty with their hair and beards. And the guy I’m talking about said he pretended to be average in training so not to put a target. Even said one time he pretended to struggle during pullups multiple times and pretended to pass out after finishing a run. I met him at a 5k, he ran with in clothes and hair looking like ace Ventura Hawaiian shirt, boots and cargo shorts with a big thing of Tobacco in his lip and ran a 15 minute 5k. I thought he cheated. But he was so nice, he thought I was Indian but I said half south indian half Iraqi. I can tell he had been to Iraq because he spoke near fluent arabic but spoke Iraqi terms that only north Iraqis know with Assyrian/Kurdish dialect. 🙂‍↔️ My man. Also, he drink a bunch of beers before this bars 5k too.

Yep ! You offer a bigger target to the drones. The fat ass on the other end of the drone control is smiling and order anothe Coke and chicken wings with salsa after blowing your arse off the screen. The problem is that you add one more blood liter every 10kg.... if you're fit, every kg is just dynamite. Steak is a big no no for your CARDIO ! When you have a x1.5 stress on your heart from the start you add 38kg of gear and just can't keep the cardio pneumo thorax pace with someone who's just fit. In France we call the Marine Troops and Drill Sergents from Marine Commandos ""skinny cats"". They are the best / nightmarish instructors.

Not sure what your MOS was but most of us combat arms dudes spent 5 or 6 days in the gym lifting weights. My platoon Sargent was 6’2” 250 and could run a 11 minute 2 mile. I’m 5’7” and was 200 lbs by the time I got out at around 10% body fat. When we were in country we came up with whatever we could to lift while we were there. Being strong objectively makes you a more dangerous combative. The little skinny dudes who could run 5 minutes miles may be fast, but how the fuck are you gonna move a casualty if you can’t deadlift 300+ lbs easily? There’s a reason they’ve implemented the ACFT vs the old PFT. Running fast is easy if you’re small. Running fast while still being strong enough to beat a combatant to death with their own MG (shout out cpl Woolridge, that’s a badass MOH citation if you want to look it up) is hard

As a current serving soldier in the Army, and as someone who has lifted heavy but also trains cardio, this is definitely true, overall physical strength is a lot more than just how much you can lift and or carry, you must also work on stamina and long-term endurance, this is a concept that unfortunately the majority of people in society don't really legitimately have a clue about, they look at "athletes ", like crossfiters and runners and think they know how strong soldiers are. They don't really have a clue, especially when they try to talk about soldiers like myself that have always been very serious about excersizing and legitimately lifting heavy consistently for 20 years, and this video showcases the very real difference between stage "bodybuilder, strongmen", and Combat trained warriors who are not just physically fit but also legitimately quite a bit more physically conditioned and stronger in the long term, rather than just in the short term, of which is what most civilian, "gym, strong men", are they can be quite strong in the short term but most don't have the stamina to keep it up in the long run. Hence the necessity for training.

@Michael-fb1rl
@Michael-fb1rl 11 күн бұрын
@@jmgonzales7701 It depends on your unique physiology, plus the "standards", the military uses are actually very antiquated literally, they use the exact same scale from the 1920's to gage height weight, so to put that in perspective back in the 1920's if you were not over 6' and you weighed more than 180Ibs you were considered "fat", this scale literally doesn't take into account decades of excersizing and or lifting and cardio training and definitely not specific physiology, it tries to make generalized categories and make certain "groups" of body type meet a particular generalized "standard", I just did my height weight, I'm 5'11 current 203-204Ib, but my body fat percentage is legitimately just under 9% , my neck circumference is right at 16", and my waist is right under 34", somewhat lean but I do have a decent high amount of muscle mass and quite low fat percentage for my height and body type. And I can still pretty easily lift 400+-600+Ibs and run a 15min 33sec 2 mile after doing all four leg excersizes in the ACFT. So yes it is possible you just have to train and most importantly keep cardio up. I've been excersizing and heavy weight lifting for 20 years, and always do some cardio, it's not always running but I always do some cardio. And I've also been on one meal a day period for over two years.

Physique is not a good indicator of whether or not someone has what it takes to make it in SOF, it's the absolute lack of quit in the candidate, and that they had guys pass selection with physiques ranging from bookworm, marathoner, and yes even powerlifter/bodybuilder. Never think that because someone is skinny or jacked or short or tall that they can't do something, it's the strength between their ears and in their guts that matters in these groups.

I was alrdy thinking this. Boxers, mma fighters the majority are not bulky, all that bulky muscle taxes your body harder. I remember being a little kid like 7yo and there was some body builder sht on the TV, I said something like dang that guy looks really strong and my grandpa (was SF in Vietnam) he said "all those big bodybuilders muscles were just for show, they're no stronger than a guy who's dug ditches and worked construction since they were 18". Functional strength. If you can't already, you should build the strength needed to move your body where you want it to go. You can build functional strength with just body weight work outs. Push-ups, pull-ups, dips, squats, sit-ups, burpees, mountain climbers and all the variations, ex: neutral grip pull-ups, wide grip pull-ups, close grip, palms fwd, palms Inward etc etc same goes for most other bodyweight work outs, they have a bunch of variations, which each work a dif muscle.

Spot on mate honestly enjoyed reading this comment, dj Shipley is a ex devgru guy who explained in one of his shooting videos that they use a stance very similar to that of a boxer in close combat/ room to room clearing ect. The human body imo really does tend to have a default set of posture fundamentals that are the gold standard across virtually every single realm.

Body builders require a lot of calories, a special forces soldier is usually a lot thinner which is a plus cause they can survive without a lot of water/food and can be behind enemy lines for weeks.

Theres a big difference between being fit and being a body builder. Gym bros aint fit. Endurance runners are fit.

Ok but as someone who actually went to selection , endurance runners would die if they had to drag a 200plus man half a mile , or lift 50lb ammo boxes over there head to hand them to the gunner during restock . You have to have strength and endurance because without the other is futile

Based on my personal experiences, mostly physical courses in SF pipeline are gearing towards endurance but we don't abandon the burst and explosive elements either since a raid in urban environment need it.

When I was at the army assessment center in the UK there were a lot of men there who were frequently bodybuilding, whereas I was walking for at least 2 hours everyday while also doing push ups and sit ups to prepare. When it came to the beep test (or shuttle run), they barely managed to get past stage 7. I talked to one of them afterwards and he was pretty disheartened by it, saying he was probably just going to bodybuild a bit more.

Same thing applies to hand to hand combat also I compare it to peacocking hence the peacocks large vibrant feathers are literally good for nothing and the ones that are most influential towards females and mating, are more likely to be caught by a predator because it henders much needed movement

Its quite humorous when these things are proven publicly on a egotistical gym head who is overly confident but a guy half his weight and size predicts the outcome prior to the 'challenge' . I don't know if you guys heard of Bradley Martin and the crap he spews about being 260, saying he'll "break people" and a 150lb fighter laughs and confidently sends a rebuttal and a offer for a friendly bout but is silently declined by the former 😂

If someone can even run as fast as they can for 12 hours is already impressive enough. But well, idk much about SF eligibility. So please enlighten me with a legit information and justification for it.
