It’s important to realize what was going on in the gaming industry during the Black Ops 4 release. Everyone was/is interested in Battle Royales.. Treyarch was directly affected by this movement. It drastically shaped Black Ops 4... including zombies all together.

I'd say whether people like Chaos, or not it needs to come back. For one we need a not Aether story to conclude. Secondly the story just started to ramp up with Ancient Evil. The people that hate Chaos just because it's notd Aether need to shut up. If you don't like it just because it doesn't click with that's fine, but the people that hate on it just to hate it are just annoying. People also just didn't give it a chance. It had 4 maps where as Aether has a total of 26 maps(not including ZC, or the BO1 Remasters of the WaW maps, which would put the total to 38), and the Comic series. You can't expect an Aether quality(if you really want to say it was quality)story in 4 maps, and a shorter comic series. DOTN, and Voyage probably turned people off of Chaos, because they weren't amazing maps, but if you compare the first 4 Chaos maps to the first 4 Aether maps there is not contest when saying which is overall better. Aether can't be faulted for its og maps being barebones since they were the first ever zombies maps, but it is annoying when people try to say Nacht-Der Reise are better than Voyage-AE(they are mainly trolling, but it doesn't make it less annoying). I'll admit I overall like Aether more, but that's because I've been following it since WaW, but I can't agree with anyone who says Chaos is bad. The best way to handle Chaos going forward is to either conclude the story on BO4(the leaked DLC 5 could work, but I don't think Treyarch has time to do it unless they get Sledgehammer, or Raven to finish it for them while they work on the next game), or use the start of the next game to finish it(maybe the launch map(s) can conclude it, and the DLC season can be the start of the next story, or an Aether reboot). Either way, like I said before, Chaos shouldn't be abandoned like Extinction(not Zombies, but still unfinished), Exos, IW, and WW2.

I quite like chaos i think shaw is a FANTASTICAL character, yes he might look a bit weird to some but his dialoge is hilarious and he has a great voice, bruno is pretty good and so is diego i cant really judge the girl since the game never gives me her but she's a pretty decent character too! I'd like to see them return, best think of it this way: compare chaos to some of the other crews like iw aw i personally thought there were a couple of decent characters in ww2 tho also aether is way better than the bo2 crew, now you see how they are actually pretty decent? I AM willing to give something new a chance. And I did, I gave Chaos chance after chance. 4 maps it had, still hated the storyline. It DOES NOT feel like a scary, supernatural zombies story, instead, we have mythology from Greek, to Norse, to Egyptian and so forth. It’s a terrible combination; Zombies + God Mythology. And that is so many people’s opinion on it. You’re just in that very small percentage, which is not WRONG or BAD. It just you have a unpopular opinion.

The people who shit on Chaos are just more vocal(people like NoahJ, Lex, etc.). There's nothing wrong with not liking Chaos, but it just annoys me that so many people give it extra, unnecessary, crap, because it is on BO4, it was competing with Aether, and it was just starting. A large chunk of people who are still in the community didn't stat playing Zombies until BO1, while another chunl came in at BO3. There are a lot of people who came in during BO2, but probably nowhere near as many as BO1, or BO3. WaW is the game that has the least amount of people who started from it(I did)so people forget that it wasn't really until Ascension when people started giving there souls to the zombies story. There were bits of story throughout WaW, but I'd say maybe a 1/4 of the small community at that time started to try an piece it together(which wasn't to hard, because back then there was so little to work with that you understood 80% of the story just by playing). Kino had a small bit of story, but far less then Der Riese, and Five felt completely disconnected from the main story. So if we go with Aethers story not only picking up, but the start of the community's love for it, it took until Aethers 7th map, while Chaos started picking up, and more people started to like it, by its 4th. It's also not just a matter of story, but gameplay. Chaos plays great(only difference from Aether is no Raygun, and Catalyst), so if people don't like the story they could turn off the voices, and just play. Most of the community that is vocal about hating Chaos(even most of the ones who like it), only care about EEs, and Story. That is where the heart of the problem comes from, because even though the EEs for Chaos are formatted the same as Aether people still say Aether does it better when in reality they are the same. People like NoahJ have even said if it was an Aether crew on the chaos maps they'd like them. That is complete bullshit in my opinion, because that is pretty much telling the devs that you like their map, but you won't play it, because you can't be Richtofen. I really like Noah's content, and him as a person, but it annoys me, because he is the type of person who doesn't actually give anything a chance, and tells people they are wrong if they don't agree(which many people do as jokes, and so does Noah, but sometimes he does actually mean it). So when you have Noah(whom writes off everything without giving it time, or a chance)saying that Chaos(and BO4 as a whole)is bad the majority of his subs(who don't form their own opinion, as most people do on the internet now)say it is to even if they haven't play BO4 once, or only at launch when it had stability issues. It's not solely on Noah, but on other content creators, and people who tell their friends causing them to not like it either. Treyarch isn't completely innocent, because they could of communicated more, but i don't blame them as much as others, because of Activision pushing them onto the next game.

Hey Tim, the reason why the skeletons move so awkwardly is because they are a wholehearted reference to the stop motion Jason and the Argonauts movie. In it, some skeletons were famously animated, in stop motion, by the legendary Ray Harryhausen. Their choppy movement is, explicitly, a reference to the oddness of stop-motion in, well, motion.

This is why i love IX ON BO4. (Ik its lowkey meant to be the bo4 beginner map) but i love how easy the set up is on IX. Starting area is big and makes for a great training area later. The challenge system is cool, getting pap set up is so straightforward that it no longer makes it stressful, but still makes it meaningful. The shield is easy to find the parts for as u can do it as your killing the champions in each perk location for pap. Haven’t done the main easter egg but the boss looks cool af. Still learning the death of orion quest tho

I wish people would cut Chaos story some slack. Let’s be real, the Aether storyline only got good in BO2. It had some strong qualities in the end of WaW and some of BO1, but more than not the interest of those games came from them being new, not actually being good. The Ultimis characters in particular beyond Richthofen were hardly even characters until they got rebooted two and a half games later. So maybe give chaos a little bit of credit, the characters actually managed to be real characters before 2 and a half games into their story, and the storyline is generally better than aether’s was for 2 full games. Imagine all the things you would have missed out on if you had just ignored or lost interest in the Aether story just based on its first and second game. Everyone in the zombies community should know by now it’s not super fair to judge stuff by their first installment. I’m not saying chaos is perfect, but ya know it took WaW, BO1, and all of BO2, before the Aether story actually got to at least at or above the level chaos got to in its first game. So don’t just cast it off immediately.

i think i know the context behind it. there was not really any story early in zombies (it took until der riese to have at least some explanation of what is going on), so gameplay was all that mattered. when ultimis came, they were judged by how entertaining their personalities were, rather than any actual development, and by the time they got integrated into a coherent storyline that was easy to follow, the fans had time to know them and get attached to them. the chaos crew and their story would inevitably get compared to aether, and considering people had three games to get to know them at this point, that is some stiff competition

very mad guy yeah it’s always weird how people just kinda forget our roots. It’s like they think the story was this deep expansive lore with interesting complex characters from the start. When in reality the story took half of WAW, all of BO1, and 3/5s of BO2 to reach a point where I could genuinely call it a good coherent story with complex characters and a clear narrative. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the Ultimis stuff to an extent. But it’s just funny how people so quickly forget it took like 5+ years and 3 different games before the Aether story started to really gain traction in terms of quality and characters.

It had no moral or thing to say beyond "being an evil nazi is bad", pretty much every map was only loosely connected with a single thing but beyond that they were entirely separate with barely any throughline, the story just kinda went from one event to the other without much cohesion, and the story was not actually that expansive while there were some cool map details and EE story stuff when you break it down the story in early zombies was pretty barebones. And that's not even talking about the characters. Not good, at all. I mean don't get me wrong, the gang were hella fun and enjoyable to listen to. But Tank, Takeo, Nikolai, and Richtofen were just walking stereotypes. And if the writers, idk, DID SOMETHING with that then it would be okay, but they didn't. Tank's character begins and ends at "hardass patriot soldier", Nikolai's character begins and ends at "drunk", Takeo's character begins and ends at" honorubu japanese characiture", and richtofen while having the most attention and story still was just "mad scientist". They didn't have ANY character development, didn't go through any character arcs, and other than Richtofen the gang had virtually no personal attachment to any of the events. There's just simply nothing there. And no, vague hints that Nikolai drinks cause he's traumatized doesn't mean anything when you don't DO ANYTHING with that and it just acts as a minor backstory point with no baring on the character or events. Take that and compare it to later zombies like in BO3. Well rounded story, cohesive throughline from map to map, actually had points to make and philosophy to explore, expansive story growth, personal attachment and reasoning for the characters, actual character depth and development for the cast. THATS what a good story looks like. Most of the "story" in the early days of zombies was just there to explain the places they were. Like it's very obvious they decided Kino Der Toten would be a zombies map in a german theatre before they ever wrote anything in the story for it, that's why it has almost nothing to do with the story and has little actual reason for the gang to be there.

@@gryph0n55 My "childhood" was off bo2. I've barely played waw. I've only now gotten into bo1 as I used to play it and found it to difficult so stopped. I always watched bo2 to bo3 and it's story. I prefer the story of waw to bo1.

Potentially controversial opinion here: I think this map despite using an indisputably worse engine does what Origins was trying to do way better and is much more welcoming for people like me who tend to prefer the simpler BO1 style of maps. That said I’m a huge Greek mythology nut so that makes me pretty biased towards it.

The gauntlets on ancient evil are one of my favourites since you can punch the zombies and they special attacks they do a cool. On shoots a massive laser on the floor. One does a hulk smash. One summons blood with hands that rise from it. One fires wind blowing zombies away.

Wrong Coming from a Greek speaker there’s no “Eye” sound in the language. Και is even pronounced “Keh” You’re probably the type of person to pronounce the first four letters in the alphabet as Alpha, Beta Gamma and Delta, and you probably can’t say a simple food like Gyro right. The actual pronunciation is Del-Fee but it’s spelled Delphi of course Actually if you wanna get really technical then Thel-fee would be closer as Delta is actually pronounced Thelta

Yeah, when he complained about the skeletons I was like "...huh?" They're a nuisance but not anymore worse than say a nova crawler? 🤷🏾‍♂️ and I feel this map makes you overpowered quick because the gauntlet, the shield, and how easily accessible pack can be. Then of course you have the bo4 system on top of that! So this map is made very easy, very fast.

I would honestly like to see a review of the Infinite Warfare maps(which I personally feel that some of them are underrated). Spaceland was a really fun map. I still play Spaceland a lot to this day. Rave wasn’t as good, but it was okay. It was eh. I dislike Shaolin, and Attack. Beast, I’m mixed. I like the Mephistopheles boss and the Directors Cut idea.

Hot take here... I think the skeletons are one of the best parts of the map! TLDR: makes the point system feel better by making players better at the game! My explanation could stop at "get good" But that's not a good reason. I think my reason for liking them so much is because black ops 4's systems rewarded good accuracy and playing for "skill through accurate headshots." And the skeletons kind of teach the player base to improve and embrace the black ops 4 point system by giving them a challenge that makes them succeed! (I'm a Rainbow Six Siege player so I hit my headshots by default) But for my friends who are a lot more casual just by playing this map in the past few weeks. I have seen a huge improvement in their skill just because of having to deal with these little shits!

They could have fixed it by making each map have a month of marketing, with each month having a new trailer. 1st week - teaser trailer, make the people think and speculate about the map. 2nd week - story trailer, give the opening segment a trailer. 3rd week - gameplay trailer, show off wonder weapons, bosses, etc. 4th week - release trailer, comes one day before launch, mixes both the story and gameplay trailer together to market the game well.
