I was such a fan of Mob of the Dead that, living in California, I begged my parents to go on vacation in San Francisco to visit Alcatraz. It happened, and that time of my life was absolutly euphoric. Such an experience both on my computer and in real life.

@@spoongaming9507 the problem is that in Bo1 for example the easter eggs were difficult and complicated but enjoyable because the gameplay, with the old perk systems and the not tedious pack a punch path, was much more effictive and simple than Bo4. I think the mistake of Treyarch was making the gameplay of Bo4 as difficult as the story with the all new perk system that nobody asked and pack a punches that required hours and hours of game; in fact imo the same errors were made with gorod krovi, zetsubou no shima and revelations in bo3

@@JohnSmith-wh2ob but bo4 did offer a lot more than any game before it the ability to customize your gameplay and game style ,the old Perk machines and the new system are nothing different we act like if we ever switched perks once we went down, we g up and ran and grabbed the same 4 perks despite having multiple perk machines and a wunderfizz,the way they did it was your going to use 4 main perks anyways why not cut out the running around and just give you 4 main perks that you can choose from,the game got so ridiculously easy with bo3 especially with gobble guys, what before did right was punish you for using elixirs as the more you used then the longer it would take to regenerate,vs gums you could keep spinning as much as you want ,the difficulty on bo3 wasn’t as big as the difficulty in bo4 you had more enemies to worry about and more tight areas than bo3,they also added something to balance all the advantages a player can have by adding a hardcore and a realistic mode something zombies players don’t touch because it’s hard making it past round 5, apparently it’s way to hard,it also did the customization thing as you choose how you want to start op or not, vs bo3 your forcibly started op with perkaholic and rain drops really ruining the progression, with bo4 everything was option you didn’t have to be op at the start,bo4 has more of a harder game element that previous games,it definitely was a step in the right direction,just ppl didn’t like the fact they couldn’t have jug and if it wasn’t for activision the game would’ve released at a later time with a lot of stability fixes and could’ve had a better life cycle

I think what makes Mob of the Dead one of the best Zombies maps ever, (and what makes it interesting,) is the fact that it takes place in Alcatraz, a real-life prison. And because of it's unique and deep story!

Alcatraz is definitely the coolest idea for a Zombies map they’ve had, but that’s hardly the only reason. MOTD also had (in my opinion) the best group of characters, the coolest version of Revive to date, an actually functional Hell’s Retriever/Redeemer, one of the sickest wonder-weapons ever made (and the base version could probably be made IRL if you really wanted to), and the best artistic theming in Zombies to date (MOTD is both scary and low-key depressing which is perfect). MOTD nearly perfected all aspects of a Zombies map right down to the fabric, and it remains my favorite map of all time for that.

Finally ended the aether story once for all with a mediocre ending instead of a fucked up ending.

Treyarch treated BOTD as a safety net to insure that older players would come back to BO4. They made it too familiar and yet so different (in the wrong way). Honestly, they could have just kept the old story and brought back the old characters while still including elements of the aether story to it, but in my opinion they overcomplicated everything and made it really difficult to love a map that was so highly anticipated.

Genuinely bo2 was the best time for me personally in zombies. The maps tested my skill and the story was interesting to say the least. Then blundell came in, and zombies changed. It was no longer about a crazy mineral that had weird properties and electricity. It became mythical and magical. Not only that, but the maps he helped create run BO2 and BO3 were maps that any player could play, and they offered a lot in return. Whether a complete noob to a veteran player. Mob, origins, buried, and all of BO3 zombies, they were all inclusive and anyone could play. Then Bo4 came and mucked everything up, continuing a story that should’ve ended in the previous title, and introducing a new story as well as a completely new system that was no longer inclusive. This new system pushed people away, it made the game harder to play, and forced those who were loyal to grind long hours or to spend money to win, the weapons were no longer good and wonder weapons were a joke to say the least. I understand the new system with the new story line, but it just didn’t belong in aether. Black ops 4 was over ambitious, poorly executed, not handled properly, and was a poor excuse for a money grab. I’d say bring back the good days of zombies, let console players have mod and custom map support, and bring back jug. But honestly zombies is just to far gone for me especially with BO5 supposedly bringing the goddamned Aether story back... AGAIN!!!! God!!! Why won’t you just die already!!!!!

Shane Tressler I’m ok with bo5 bringing the rather storyline come back as long as they fix the mistake they made in origins by “killing” Primis and Ultimus off.(in quotes as you mentioned it will be coming back so I hope they aren’t dead for good.) I was so disappointed with where they honestly left Arthur after dragging its name through the mud. I think it deserves a bit of redemption just to bring it to a respectable end instead of missing everything such as the Great War, dr Monty, post revelations richtofen and so on.

I really like the map, I do agree that its not as great as mob but its still pretty good by itself. The new areas (apart from the spawn) where good additions, and isnt "unnecessary", as they give 2 box locations, a dog head, good training area, a work bench, magmagat upgrade, pack a punch and a really good trap. The catwalk was a very good risk reward part, its a tough walk through it but it gives you a lot of points. And I like the flow, going down to the second power switch makes sense as it takes you through shield locations and its the first main objective for the map. But I understand why people don't like it that much and respect that.

I feel the story was actually excellent, and was needed in terms of continuity, but unfortunately a lot of the areas were implemented only to serve the story and nothing else. A player who doesn’t do Easter eggs will never touch the Wardens house after the magmagat, or Richtofens lab aftwr spawning in. If you look at the progression of both maps it’s obvious that building the plane helps to create a sense of escalation and pacing. Each part has a simple requirement attached to it. Once it’s finished you get to go to a fun training area that switches up the gameplay for pack a punch. Once that’s done all you need to do is find the fuel canisters near the original part locations, they’re not hard to find and none of the parts are complicated to get. Blood’s system on the other hand is build a shield and shoot a thing. On paper this seems more simple but the fact that the PaP moves with 0 indication of where it’s moved to is just inexcusable. They had a perfectly good model for moving and it in Call of the Dead. It’s a matter of sloppy design. In terms of accessing PaP Blood is obviously quicker but long term you waste so much time running around aimlessly only to engage with a PaP system that already feels like a bit of a time waste.

I really liked mob of the dead but one thing I genuinely hated about it was the Pack-a-punch, I mean sure crashing down to the golden gate bridge is cool for like the first 3 times but doing the steps is so overly complicated and difficult. Blood of the dead is simple with its pack a punch, make a shield and do a spirit blast. You get a shield AND a way to get pack-a-punch, thats fucking awesome. I do think Blood of the Dead made Mob of the Dead more over the top and cartoony much like other modern zombies maps but I think it fixed that glaring issue perfectly.

While technically BOTD is based on MOTD, I think you can see it in a while different light if you think of it as a separate entity. They were not trying to make MOTD remastered, which is why so many things were changed. The characters, the bridge, the boss fight, and so many other things that made MOTD unique were removed, and I think that was probably a good choice. These are what made MOTD unique. BOTD would not be a unique map if it copied everything over. The bridge was cool because it was original and unique to MOTD. We had never seen anything like it, but now we have. It would not be original or unique if they had simply the same pack-a-punch scenario. While I do agree that the starting room is pretty irrelevant unless you are doing the easter egg, I do disagree about the Power House and New Industries. There are plenty of things there, including a power switch, Pack a Punch location, mystery box location, a dog for the Hell’s retriever, and a perk. And this doesn’t even include the easter egg steps that go on there. There is plenty of stuff to do there in earlier rounds, but not on later rounds. I do not think this is a fair arguement to make, as like in pretty much any other map including MOTD, once you are set up, you will pretty much stay and camp or train in one place just like in BOTD. I also do not see a problem with the addition of the Warden’s house. This is very important for the easter egg, and is also important for the magmagat upgrade. It is very ideal for that upgrade process, due to its small and linear design, which makes the lockdown more difficult. I really can’t think of another place on the map where the upgrade process could work, and the house is so small that you really aren’t losing anything with its inclusion Now, in regards to the Hells Retriever, I do agree that it is not worth it, but I would consider this a problem with BO4 and would not blame BOTD for this. Anyways, those are my thoughts. I really think they were in the right in changing up MOTD. They could not just do the same thing for BOTD, as while it may have been really cool to see a MOTD remaster at first, it quickly would have become forgotten, as there would be nothing separating it from its predecessor. This is BOTD, not MOTD, and if you look at it that way I think it is a really good map.

Its objectively great but bo4 has some flaws like as you mentioned the hells retriever , where its not worth it to trade away your wraith fire. Honestly it would be a S Tier map aswell but bo4 mechanics, which make the maps far easier and then you have the hellion salvo aswell .. thats why i put it in B Tier. If you dont compare it to MOB then i see nothing wrong with the map itself besides the bo4 mechanics but thats honestly with most of the bo4 maps. I think they are all solid ngl

Blood Of The Dead is A-/B+ Tier map but if you really wanna compare it to MOB and what BOTD is missing in comparison then still atleast C+ Tier. There is objectively nothing wrong with the map itself besides not knowing where PAP is - rather just gets dragged down a bit due to BO4. BO4 got too much hate when in reality all maps are solid. The changes nobody asked for are not as bad as everyone makes it out be. Some changes make even sense like the specialist/5x PAP/pointsystem. Only the equipment/not being able to have a secondary equipment is bad because it makes the hell's retriever/monkeys etc useless when in reality the wraith fire is just better. The zombies spawns and movement is subobjective if you like it or not and that will eventually break the map for you, but i really have no problem in training with zombies. Oh and the biggest flaw of bo4 the hellion salvo. Already why every map on this game couldnt be a perfect map sadly.

so imma tell you a detailed topic of why BOTD is a bad map so stop fanboying lets look at the BOTD pros shall we The Emotional Ending Cutscene The Adrenaline of the catwalk... at the start of the game The Magama Gat and quest The Hells retriever quest .... and that's it now let's look at the VERY LONG list of the BOTD cons lets look into it shall we The irrelevance of some part of the maps Example1:The Docks all the way where you turn on the 2nd switch who in the living fuck dick will ever go there after you setup I guarantee the devs saw that there was nothing there so they put a fucking spoon upgrade that should've been in the prison, they changed the spot to just change it Example2:The Wardens House after you get the magma gat there is no fucking reason to ever go back there cause 1.its a death sentence after round 25 cause sprinters will %100 try to corner you in the 1 zombie wide hallway 2.you have no space to train in there 3.it doesn't matter if there's a quest thing that you can do there, they could've thrown the magma gat step INTO the prison so again wasted space Example3: The First Power Location the only fucking thing that is relevant about this play is the perk location... that's it The High Rounding ...fuck me in the ass this is probably one of the worst high rounding attempts I've ever played in Treyarch zombies I will admit that the workshop is suitable for high rounds but since its black ops 4 and since the ZOMBIES in bo4 after round 50 spawns in super sprinters, what are super sprinters you ask, super sprinters are basically sprinters but faster than Usain bolt the problem about this 1.they will 100% fuck up your train 2.if you get caught off guard they will try to corner you and try to down you in a second cause they will swipe at you fucking fast 3.The Zombie Spawns speaking of zombie spawns let's talk about that gondola right now there was a reason to pick the gondola instead of running from the warden's office down to where the docks 1.its faster 2.its a kinda relief travel but in BOTD there is no reason to go on the gondola past round 20 because the zombie spawns in bo4 are so fucking fast that they will 100% spawn in front of you in large groups leading into a down it's not like "wow I suck dick if I was better I could've avoided that" but in this situation, it's like "I literally couldn't do anything else there " and I know your gonna say "why don't you just use the magma gat" well you can but it's inconsistent sometimes when you shoot the ground the zombies will ACTUALLY run to the projectile and other times they will completely ignore it and run straight at you this is a grand problem and will lead to a death that will annoy you so now imma give you 10 seconds to see the big ass mammoth in your room 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 there's no bridge, there is no fucking bridge they got rid of it remember crafting the plane getting on the plane and then riding it to the bridge, and then PAP was there, what a fucking reward...not there anymore that's all gone matter affect there's a MOVING PAP where you have to get 3 zombie souls and then shield blast the electrical outlet at the roof, devs why are we complicating that. The bridge tho it doesn't make sense to have it in BOTD is still a MAJURE piece gone oh and let's talk about that spectral shield right now they replaced the afterlife which was the highlight of MOTD and replaced it imma say that the blast to kill the zombies is REALLY good but the way to activate it to put the key into the shield to shoot the blast...WHY ISNT THE KEY ALREADY IN THE FUCKING SHIELD LIKE MOTD and also the upgraded spectral shield the only thing it helps about is that it takes 5 more hits and it takes 2 more ghost blasts...that's it unlike the upgraded shield from Gorod Krovi it's SOOOOOO fucking strong and it takes more than 4 shots... I think oh I forgot btw the hells redeemer the process to get it not even fucking worth it, literally have not even gone for it, I looked up a tutorial to see how to get it, not even fucking worth it, you might as well just get the monkey bombs or the free ones. Cause the hells redeemer is useless and that's another huge thing gone I know that I'm more talking about gameplay but sure imma talk about the story too I like the BOTD story but personally, I love the MOTD storyline you have these 4 monsters that are trapped in this endless cycle of purgatory that was created by the shadow man and they try to escape the island that was inspired by a real escape, which in my opinion is way more intriguing than the BOTD storyline I feel like they could've just left this map fucking alone, I wish that they never remade this map I wish that BOTD never existed cause it was its own entity, like SOE Shadows of evil are its own entity you have these 4 people that sinned and were placed in this hell hole of a zombified Morg City which is pretty interesting and please for god sake do not remake SOE if I had to give this map a rating I would give it a 4.9/10 E Tier

When camping in the ice grotto on TDT makes the stupid explosive dolls even a valuable option, then clearly the hells retriever/redeemer is one aswell here. It was never supposed to be MOB and its also not as good as MOB but it doesnt have to be. Just nostalgia hurt feelings i guess. You have your specialist, the acid/magmagat and victorious tortoise so clearly when zombies are infront of you after using the gondola it really shouldnt be a problem. Maybe the easter egg could've been referencing motd or maybe cotd if they went with the behind a door approach and it would've referenced an amazing map.

I feel like this is genuinely such a better idea than what Treyarch did because in short they fixed problems that never even existed in the first place and maybe they could’ve gone off your idea and then they could escape Alcatraz in the ee and arriving in a place that one of the characters knew well like an old abandoned childhood neighborhood or school or whatever and finding themselves yet again fighting zombies and then after them not wanting to keep going and fighting zombies they could’ve ended their storyline with them all back at Alcatraz and sacrificing themselves or one person

*SPOILERS* After breaking the cycle, they were free, they were souls. Only reason why they had physical bodies was because Brutus was keeping them there to repent for their sins, hence the afterlife. in game you can control afterlife but story wise not really. what happens is that all 4 go through the cycle and when they kill al, they start over back at Alcatraz and their soul is put back into their body from the start, hence the cycle. once the cycle is broken, they all dont have to die anymore so their souls are released. So if by your "better idea" it wouldnt have made sense if they remastered the map and all 4 OG MOTD crew had physical bodies because they were long gone past their time. *this is only if you want the supposed MOTD remastred map to follow Aether storyline* if not then it wouldnt be a bad idea but it would be a map like from chronicles in bo3, retelling the story just in better graphics

1. Yes, you do go back to the starting rooms for Origins and Shadows of Evil because they have Quick Revive. Unless you want to end your game quickly, I suggest you go back and get Quick Revive when you need it. 2. Zetsubou No Shima has the bucket you need to grab and some other stuff in the starting room, so you don't "never go back." 3. The beginning room in IX where you walk out into the actual starting room isn't a starting room. Stop nitpicking, that was literally just a 2 second intro to the map, nothing happens in that small room until you leave it, it's literally there for cinematic value. 4. Blood of the Dead has a completely worthless starting room. All of the other starting rooms you mentioned have some value and some have important things you need like Quick Revive. You're just proving Tim's point with your pointless comment.

Blood of the dead is the sequel to mob of the dead. The story ties everything together. The locations you say are “insignificant” are extremely significant to the story. The lab is where richtofen created the blood vials. Mob is where the cycle was created by the blood vials in a sense. And blood is where the cycle and the blood vials were destroyed.

I think a good way they could have kept the golden gate bridge as the pack a punch location in blood and making the spawn area more relevant is by having you find 3 codes around the map we can call them “emergency exit codes” or something like that then in similar fashion to Alpha Omega you input those 3 codes into a key pad in the laboratory on the spawn room and once all the codes have been put in, a secret door opens in the laboratory, and behind that door there is a SOE type of portal you have to press square/X to open it like in SOE and instead of the portal being blue like in the intro cutscene of blood its red , then our characters like richtofen could’ve said a quote like “gentlemen I have found a way out. quick! Jump through!” Then our characters proceed to teleport to the bridge and richtofen could say a line like “Oh no, something has gone wrong the emergency exit portal didn’t work! We are still stuck in this hellish dimension Scheisse!!!” And pack a punch would be there and if we want to go back to the prison we would have to survive a round in the bridge for a portal to appear to take us back to the prison and if we want to go back to pack a punch we would have to wait another round in the prison for us to be able to open the portal again. I think that would be pretty sick and would have gave more relevance to the spawn room and the area around it.

Honestly my biggest problem with blood is that it feels like be just wanted to jam it into the story so they could get hype. My favorite part of mod was that it was self contained. It was an endless loop of the prisoners in some kind of hell, Brutus was the guard turned zombie who was also trapped in the loop. But now when I go back to play it, I gotta think about how there’s a futuristic lab under the facility and stuff. Just ruins the vibe for me. Blood as a map tho isn’t bad.

The big difference between the maps for me is that MOTD gave me SOO many great memories, For example: I’ll NEVER forget the first time I built the plane, or I’ll NEVER forget the first time I got the blundergat and got the acid gat kit, and I’ll definitely never forget the First time I got the hells retriever. But with BOTD, I hardly remember anything, it just didn’t do the same as MOTD did. It felt like Treyarch was thinking that if they gave us one of our all time favorite maps and added upon that we would love it, but instead myself and most people felt the complete opposite. Note: Nostalgia is nice, but it has to me done well in order to be well received well.

i think it comes from the fact that you're just redoing what you already did so it doesn't feel original to you so ofc you wouldn't remember it but trust me i will forever remember when i first got that blundergat and ran it across the map while keeping it lit this map is actually one of my all time favorites(yes i played MOTD and before you even ask yes i like this more i know it's a crime) it just feels so good and the story slaps imo(MOTD story was awesome too though)
