I actually disagree with this idea of being quiet. Learn how to motivate your team and get them back on track is infinitely more valuable than staying quiet. There will be games where some guy will feed and throw the game no matter what you say, it happens and theres nothing you can do about that. As long as you remain calm DURING the game and try everything you can to get your teammates focusing then you will definitely pump up your winrate. Its not easy and its something that takes a long long time to even become a little bit good at. At the end of the day dota is a team game and chances of you winning 1v5 are incredibly low compared to learning how to keep 3 of your teammates motivated because your offlane went 18min midas lifestealer. Its important also to own up to your own mistakes. In dota, good communication is king. Learn how to communicate and you will raise your mmr by easily 30%.

@@LuthienFelagund yes I do agree. My games are more fun when me and my carry is communicating perfectly. Like simply saying "pulling lane" makes them aware that they cant overextend and kill themselves. . sometimes there's game that they wont listen and you dont have to force them to listen to you because it will likely lead to them feeding and griefing the game.

this is facts, no incoming chat is good if youre fragile and tilt easily, but if you dont have a big ego you can either just diffuse tension or just physically mute people if they cannot be helped. if you have a big ego it can be hard to just mute the unrepentantly toxic without saying stuff back. have raised my mmr ceiling with very basic PMA chat starting from the pick phase. this is beyond even the gameplay aspect of comms, where if youre good and locked in you can make calls or at bare minimum can just communicate your timings or if youre tping or going to farm etc

I've been getting into dota and man are the people fucking hard to play with, today I was queuing with my friend (I play support, he plays carry/offlane) and there was this game where I first picked winter wyvern and we both put on the map that we were going top (we are dire), then another pair showed they were going bot, it was then I checked the games on everyone, two fresh installs on our team, one on their's. Alright, gonna be a hard game. Both offlaners pick their heroes, crystal maiden, alright, and, uh, shit that's antimage offlane. Fresh install too. Fuck. Alright, let's just hope my friend and the mid pop off. My friend picks lifestealer, and the last guy, oh the last guy picked... axe. Okay, axe mid, it's herald. It'll work, right? We join the game, we get 2/4 bounties, I go to top, and, uh, shit, the axe, the axe is playing 5. Axe 5, I'm pretty sure n0tail didn't do that last ti, right? Okay, whatever. Axe 5, it's herald. I level my w and start playing wyvern mid, and there's a level 2 lion there. You know what that means? I never had any mana. Not even a little. I don't have stuns. Only slows, so this mid lion just walks up, stuns, sucks, and I can't do anything. I can't cast spells, I can't click, I'm slow as shit, next thing I know, I'm 0/6 and the lane is over. Fuck this axe. I'm a fucking support player man, I can't last hit, I can't play mid. We ended the game with my friend with an astonishing 3/2 kdr, which is probably the second most impressive thing he has ever done in dota (behind a 7/0 game also on lifestealer vs a bristle getting fed 4 heroes constantly, which is a game I wasn't in unfortunately. He ended up losing, everyone else had more deaths than kills on his team. When I was watching him stream on discord it was the most beautiful dota play I have ever seen) and the antimage went 8/10 which is honestly really impressive considering the fresh install status and, well, antimage offlane. I ended with like 3/10 because I was forced mid by an axe 5 who ended up with like 2/6. It was the most miserable 30 minutes of my life. Thanks for reading my salt! To dota, and to more misadventures I guess lmao.

I disagree with muting your team first. because sometimes you will meet people who actually wants to play the game, Just learn how to deescalate situations where they can grief. I'm an archon (and I dont want to go to legend because that shit is just full of Ego players). and most of the time I will communicate with my team without triggering them. makes every game "fun" in a sense of working together as a team. example is when someone is feeding. try to "suggest" them to do something rather than telling them because it will tilt them. like "hey I know you're having a hard time, stick with us so you can gain experience in teamfights and catch up". or if the team is feeding and start to loose confidence. just suggest a solution like "hey I think we should just high ground and wait for them to come in since we have Hg advantage". In a situation where. for example, the cores of the game is Bad, just tell them "yeah it's just a bad game/draft, cant do anything about it it's fine" , makes them feel a bit better in a sea of toxicity you know?.. but in a situation where. they're toxic AF. just mute them. you have the tools to do so, if they're griefing then let them be. Mute, Report, then move on. they'll have their Score deducted while you.. will have a fun time with other 12k good boys

Gonna be honest with you here, this is not the way to climb up if thats your goal, muting your whole team is just going to get you to a certain mmr, and thats only the case if youre insanely mechanically better than the average player in your bracket. Even if thats the case, you'll only rank up a bit before you hit the ceiling again, teamwork is a part of the game, listening to your team is a part of the game. Most of the time your team is going to be tilted over something or just being straight up clueless about how the game is supposed to be played? Yes. But that doesnt mean you should be completely turned off of whats going on, everything your team does, or says, needs to affect your playstyle, you're playind mid and your carry is whining about his support on the sidelane? That should affect your gameplay, either try and look for ganks, or just straight up dont count on him to go to late game scenarios. Everything going on in the game should affect the way you're playing, you cant just play the same way every single game doesnt matter how the game goes, in the end thats what mmr is, adapting to any game, doing your best to win no matter what, some games you're gonna have to mute everyone and play your shit, some game you're gonna have to find those who still want to win and call plays with them. Thats hard ngl, but it is what it is, listen to whats going on in your own game, adapt your gameplay to it, but most importantly, dont let toxicity affect your gameplay negatively, everytime you recognize someone is not really into winning, mute them, dont let it affect you, but do not start your game with chat turnt off, I only do that when I'm in some smurf in some bracket way below mine. I'm a 7.8 - 8kish player btw, thats my view on the matter. www.dotabuff.com/players/93053319

These are good tips but they don't always apply. When I played VALORANT I played all the modes except ranked the way you said, which is all communications off. It helps if you are easy to tilt person, but if you care about grinding ranked you need to be better than that. Teambased games require you to have decent teammates if you want to succeed, and one way how you can have any control over your teammates is your calls. I'm not saying to yell at your teammates or backseat coach, sometimes all you need is a good call or two and your team starts rolling. Sometimes your teammates need to hear "get back", "initiate", because it may be obvious for you, especially if you are better than them, but it may not be obvious for them. If you disable all comms you rob yourself of that ability. You can no longer "coach" your team in any way, even the slightest. Obviously sometimes these people won't listen at all, but more often than not they will listen to at least the basic callouts, even in DOTA, which people claim to have the most toxic community (you guys obviously didn't play LoL or CoD). If you really, really can't stand your teammates then that's where you just mute them but you still should be giving comms. Just because they are bad teammates for you doesn't mean you have to be bad teammates for them, if you put your emotions in the way you just ruin your chance for a win. Good tips regardless though, it is a good first step if you want to avoid the toxicity and especially for pubs, but for ranked you need to take some toxic punches and throw none.

Dota 2's behavior system is dogshit. If players in your team underperform and someone appoints you as the scapegoat, usually other bad players in team follow his lead and also start shifting blame on you, which in the end results in 4 reports to you and 4 losers feeling good about finding someone to blame for their mistakes. You might not speak a single word in chat and still get reported for 'toxic chat' and then your communication score gets lower and lower, you get matched with more toxic teammates on lower communication scores average and eventually you end up below 6000 communication score, from where there is NO ESCAPE, literally. There is no way to come back from below 6k communication score because you can no longer speak so you lose ability to communicate in a HEAVILY TEAM ORIENTED GAME LIKE DOTA2, meaning your teammates start seeing you as toxic person who doesn't communicate, and again blame is shifted on you. You start losing more games, and this goes on and on. TLDR Xjason you have no idea what you are talking about.
