It's a game, reinhardt's not a man he's pixels on a screen. widowmaker has purple skin and roadhog can take bullets and missiles to his body without dying despite not wearing armour and just bare skin.

The no fun meta is one thing, but my biggest problem with the game is the unpredictability of matchmaking. This game absolutely needs a role queue ASAP. Losing while playing heroes that you don't want to play/you're not good at or having a team comp that you knew wouldn't work from the start just makes you not want to play at all.

Agreed. This is the worst part of it. Before baguette you sometimes was able to solocarry a lot of fights, now you need your team, but no one can play the hero they filled in. I'd rather wait longer and play a hero that suits me more, and have teammates who plays their best than to have my mercy main go reinhardt in need.

Taflomaders I think I should be winning tons of games, but I'm actually not. I mean, sure I do get lots of wins still, but not as much as I'd like. I want to blame myself as much as possible and improve myself before criticizing others, but I can only do that so much. Take my last placement match of season 10 for example (mid Plat game). I was playing Moira on Hollywood with fairly decent rein and zaryas, and ofc 2 or 3 dps ( sometimes one of them would go mercy). I was playing my heart out. I healed so much and got too many ultimates to count (I personally use them fairly liberally). At the end of the match I ended up with a whopping 37K HEALING. Sounds like a winning game right? Wrong. You see, one of our dps went doomfist (he was good), and the other went soldier. The enemy team went pharah and just preyed on us. The problem is, our soldier simply lacked the mechanics to deal with the pharah. I'm not saying he's bad, because I cannot judge based on one game. Besides, maybe he was just having an off day. In the end I don't fully blame the soldier for our loss, it's just that out comp couldn't deal with a pharah

A lot of DPS mains are "quitting" because they're not playing DPS this season. I have 125 hours on Sombra and she's my most played hero, but if you looked at my competitive profile this season you'd think I was a hardcore support main.

I am a tracer main (even though last season I basically only played tanks) and my routine in competitive has basically torned into getting in the game being instantly killed by a brigetta changing to a tank/healer

Genji mains be like: "Nerf Ana plz, sleep dart OP". Ana gets reduced damage, bionade and Nano nerf. Meanwhile, Genji has mobility, cooldowns twice as fast and can fire faster and more projectiles.

I feel like people tend to blame and hate on DPS very quickly even when it is clearly not their fault, as shown by the hostility in some of the comments lol, although in my experience, it's mostly main tank mains who are quitting ('or at least until Brig is fixed') with the ridiculous amount of CC going on, judging by which of my friends have stopped playing the most.

Kelly G how is it not dps playera fault. Are they only able to select offense/defence heroes? Support mains had to deal with( and still do) being targeted by unstoppable flankers. Tracer and genji are still viable. Their tactics have changed. And people dont like it. A good tracer can still poke and position herself to get kills and chip damage. Also. Note im a diamond level dps/tank player with the occassional support. So this affects me also.

The alternative to all the dps mains quitting until they nerf brig into the ground is all the support mains quitting. I know if they continue to crap on support heros, there will be a lot of support mains (myself included) that will slow down their play time or quit in general. As a support main the game just stopped being fun with all the flankers and dps focusing you. Its so funny to me that so many dps mains are crying when support mains have been dealing with an unfavored meta (dive) for the past 4 seasons. I would much rather have all these dps mains quit and play a different game than the support mains.

In most previous seasons, aside tank meta, DPS mains were conditioned to be the gods of Overwatch, and Support mains were conditioned to deal with endless pulse bombs, dragon blades, rocket barages and c**ts spamming "mada mada". But the instant DPS mains have their fun balanced just a little bit (and this happened with the Sombra buffs as well), they all cry out because the game isn't fun anymore. Get. Stuffed. Get good. Baguette isn't that hard to counter. Blizzard, please let us have this meta for a while. Please.

THey're the problem in comp right now. They NEVER switch which is quite sad. I played a comp game yesterday and i decided to play Pharah. Mind you i don't play pharah at all and im a support main. So while i was shooting people the entire time, the teams 3 DPS NEVER switched to a hit scan and tried to kill me with a junk rat, reaper, and doomfist. that game I finished 54-5 and the only people who switched were the supports (switched to moira) and the tanks switched to Dva and winston to dive me in the air.

My problem is I’ve never seen a meta so dominant that can’t be countered. You can’t dive this meta, you can’t do a spam comp, if you death ball you can’t kill because they have too much healing, you can’t run a sudo dive comp with widow and just have her pick heads. I think they need to make Bridget have a 9 second cool down on her stun and they need to make her ult give armor but it will go away over time like Lucios ult. I honestly think hanzo doesn’t need to be changed that much but maybe reduce the damage on his storm arrow

I've been a rien main since season 1. Through the highs and lows, if a DPS main has a problem with how the balance is right now, they shouldn't quit, they should learn new things or learn how to play in that meta. I can tell you first hand how to play rien in a dive heavy meta at platinum level of play. My win rate was around 40 percent but I still climbed with performance based sr. If I can, they can too.

I understand not playing a game because it's not fun.. What I don't understand is why The "meta" is a justified reason.. a meta is not "this the only way to play that works"... it's essentially "This is the most effective or easiest way to play.. relative to the skill and coordination involved to make it effective".. I'm not going to sit here and spill who I am or anything personal about myself or my past but I will say that I used to be a competitive gamer with a semi-successful team and the reason my team was successful is because we were unpredictable even and how some of us played... and though as a whole my team was not as mechanically skilled as some of the higher tier teams but we still held their own against them because of our wildcard nature. We can sit here and blame blizzard I just some extent I believe it's warranted just in Jeff kaplan's arrogance and statements like " we know where the Meta is going before it goes there" Sure it may not be fun to play and always and at times is quite unbalanced I won't argue. But it's in those situations where you as the player stand the most potential to grow and improve by looking at it as more of a challenge to overcome.. well there is a rock-paper-scissors element to OverWatch in the majority of cases skill can overcome a hero disadvantage... for example pharah versus McCree... or Hanzo.. really it's going to come down to the skill of who can kill who first

FenexDragonis Meta isn't always the be all end all, but some meta's are so strong that you practically can't beat it with off meta heroes. Especially at higher rankings, and right now even the best Genji's and Tracer's are almost guaranteed to lose against coordinated Brigitte comps because between her low cooldowns and insane amounts of armor they don't have the damage to secure kills against this type of comp.

mastertahir bridgitte isn't the only reason tracer and genji are struggling. Triple support so passive healing from bridgitte + armor, zen healing orb + discord and mercy sustained heals+rez+damage boost, zarya bubble and new hanzo all combined together make for an extremely strong and consistent damage and healing output.

Okay, but you missed a massive point; this season takes away mechanical skill. All of the heroes you listed take some measurement of insane skill to get value out of, and all of a sudden they're outshined by heroes that are barely even considered 2 stars. The community aren't fair to DPS players that invest time and energy mastering their heroes, nor are the devs. And before anyone starts laughing, no, not all DPS players are one tricks. I'm a Genji main and I can play virtually any hero. In fact, more often than not I play Mercy in competitive because I don't want to see my idiot teammates die left and right.

This season doesn’t take away mechanical skill. Before Brigitte and new Hanzo Junkrat was the best DPS. Not Tracer, because in order for Tracer to be the best DPS she has to be easy enough that more people can play her. People who are Tracer or Genji gods took heroes who were hard to play and harvest their potential. Those people aren’t common though. Not every Genji main is actually amazing on him. Most players of any stripe, hero choice, or hero pool are average or worse. That means the most accessible heroes are usually the best, because most players aren’t the best. So before this season, Junkrat was the best DPS. He killed tanks and DPS players alike. He murders Tracer on accident and only loses to Genji if he shoots the deflect of tries to engage with too much space between him and the Genji. Junkrat is easy to play. He does not require a ton of mechanical skill, and he was on top for at least two seasons I played. So if you wanna make the skill argument: Accept both that most people aren’t actually that skilled, and that it wasn’t the most mechanically skilled hero who was on top of the meta before Brigitte and Storm Arrows. Whatever game you wanna play - where only the most skilled are welcome to enjoy themselves - has a playerbase much smaller than Overwatch’s. It also doesn’t exist for the most part, because I’ve been playing competitive shooters for years and people have always bitched about the same shit. The rest of us adapted and killed those folks, or lost to them because we were never as mechanically skilled anyway. I play Genji, Brigitte’s no problem.

bloodyinitiate while i agree with the majority of your statement i think the issue with bridgitte is the fact that not only is it a low skill requirement but also that this said ability causes loss of control of a persons said character on such a short cooldown. This makes bridgitte easy to use for lower skilled players but also makes it significantly harder for lower skilled players to counter such a hero. So at lower skill levels she is a must pick because people lack the mechanical skill to play harder heroes but the game is chaotic because they don't have the game sense skill to learn to counter it. Then you get into the high skill ratings where she is a must use because her kit is simply far too diverse and hurts well over half the cast. So then you end up with all spectrums of the skill level complaining.

It's not just that DPS get worse in general, the current Meta destroys many of the established counter-mechanisms like using McCree to counter Pharah, Genji to counter Bastion or Tracer to counter Zarya. If you can't run these counters they can just run rampage as much as they like which is not very fun.

With Brigitte Blizz finally put in a counter to stupid mobility-heroes. Now, these players have to work in a team. But blizz never trained the playerbase for that. So tracer and genji-mains demand the removal of the cc brigitte offers. Which is stupid of course. She needs some tweaks, like her ult not giving permanent armor and her shieldbash should be changed so she cant go through shields. But other than that, the cc should stay. I have an 80% win rate when I’ve played dps this season and I’m a flex player, I play every role and climb. If your going to thrown insults at someone at least learn how to spell them first or are you “special” It is a team game and everyone should play together, but then why is it that it’s always the dps running off on the own feeding??? Because they don’t play properly with their team, and just expect everyone to carry them. Stick with your main tank, they control the battlefield. Legitimate team comps can be built with no dps but you can’t say the same for the other rolls. Dps main need to get off their high horses and realise the game doesn’t revolve around them And it’s not a shooter, it’s a moba hybrid with shooter mechanics

Probably an unpopular opinion or story but I’ve recently switched to being a DPS main during the previous season which brought me up to Diamond. I was a Reinhardt + Support Main through most of the seasons with season 1 being an exception because I had no idea what I was doing during that time. I was always fine being a Flex hero, it was okay to fill in those spots no one else did. It wasn’t until recently where I found my “calling” in the DPS category because, going to sound condescending here, majority of the DPS on my team tend to suck really bad. Not saying I’m the best, but I know I can do better in most situations compared to them. This maybe wrong but, from what I heard, Overwatch likes to favor the players who choose one hero and reward them from their performance throughout their matches to gain large amounts of SR. Constant switching breaks that performance and thus lower SR gain or lower placement ranking. Of course I could be wrong, but my experience made me believe this system. Was always in Platinum at 2600-2800, and suddenly in season 9, only won 2 games and I played Genji 8/10 of my placements with golden elims for most of those games with consistent dragon blades and I hit 3200 in Diamond. The other 2 games, I chose Support and Tank and my DPS couldn’t do anything. Wrong Ult timing or didn’t want to switch off to counter enemy heroes. Then of course when everything goes wrong for those players, they choose Junkrat....mkay... Now, of course I love playing support. It’s the best and funniest job ever, kappa. Ana is probably my favorite support hero, next to Brigette and Zen. But when you get hounded on by your DPS and Tanks for not healing them, and you keep explaining that you are always dying from a flanker and are the only healer. Then they complain about YOU should let them know so they can help. Well, can’t help me when everyone is focusing on one enemy hero or over extending too much. Plus, everyone are either running away from my healing or they’re just behind walls and I can’t heal at all.I also think it’s just fate that any DPS on the Blue Team are destined to be quite bad and any DPS on the Red Team are always going to be a secret top 500 player. Now in the cases of me playing Tanks nowadays, I just get destroyed by every hero unless I have consistent healing but everyone needs healing nowadays. So you may say just git gud. Well, you’re not wrong. Meta keeps changing so adapt to it. One thing that’ll always stay the same are Support problems. So at this point in Overwatch in both QP and Comp. Just play whoever you like. Join the cancer If you want. Hate me all you want, I’ll just keep being a MadaMada Weeb and McRightClickr.

Kai Purge Fellow Sombra here, she’s actually really good it’s mainly the timing of when you do stuff that has changed now. I had a hard time doing general sombra stuff too like hacking, killing key targets etc at first but after a little while I’ve gotten used to it and it just shuts down the enemy team. At least for me when I get together with my premade. Though I will say that trying to kill Zen now is a pain, because brigette just gives him too much hp ^^;

Why is it not fun to be dps right now? Easy shields as far as the eye can see, armor upon armor upon armor, getting stunned every two seconds and mauled by the enmey, mcree has been rendered totally useless thanks to new hanzo, try to play a range game and get spammed to death, and nobody dies thanks to rally, transcendence, sound barrier, and valkryie being used everytime theres a team fight. Plus a good portion of the cast is basically unplayable which makes matches turn into are you running baguette comp? Great you'll win and if not then get stunned and killed and never kill anyone.

Furthermore, pharah has been coming back quite strong and with triple support, mcree becomes by far the best counter to pharah in this meta.

hotdogbun excluding triple tank, soldier was always a mediocre dps pick that is extremely steady and friendly to pick up. His ult being his strong suit and his kit being helpful especially at lower ranks. At high rank he was rarely ever a top pick because he is outshined by too many heroes. Dive made it very easy to burn down soldier, season 2 reaper/mcree/lucio/ana combo was insanely strong and hurt soldier as a dps, mercy/pharah meta made it near impossible to effectively use soldier at high ranks, now he is a high risk pick because he doesn't deal well with verticality and ends up being fodder for bridgitte and there are too many shields for him to be considered an effective shield buster at this point. Soldier has and always will be a highly picked character at low ranks, had a brief moment where he was picked at high ranks but overall, was almost never a top high rank dps pick.

What a time to be alive, where projectile weapons are now seen as the "n00b weapons." I remember back in the days of Quake, Unreal Tournament and Tribes when the projectile weapons were the high skill ones, and they had to tone down all of the hitscan weapons because they were too easy to use. Since, you know, having to take into account projectile trajectory, speed, and the enemies movement in relation to that... Is so much more of a "n00b" thing than babby's first point and click adventure of hitscan.

It’s also a poor idea to give Supports DPS burst damage capability. If DPS could suddenly heal their whole team (what Support Class is supposed to do), I’d bet everyone in the community not running DPS would lose their mind. I don't really like the sniper meta. I was carrying a friend out of Silver as Zenyatta on a smurf and this idiot insta locked Widow but maybe got one kill the entire game and I gave him a lot of chances by making sure he was healed and wasn't being dived and everything. I asked him to switch and he refused. This made my life as Zen so much harder because I had to carry that guy as well. The new hero is fine I guess, but you have all these people with hundreds of hours on Tracer and now she's useless because of the stuns. That can't happen. I just don't want the new hero to be nerfed so heavily as Mercy. I want players to enjoy her abilities, but not get entirely reworked.

Also note If you don't think all the heroes need some type of aim well Mercy need to put the Beam on the target in the frist place (also her pistol you can get alot better if you headshot whit it), Moira got a large Zarya beam it not even auto lock if she put the target on the beam, Brigitte can miss by her Range and hitbox size, Reaper same as Brigitte, Junkrat you need to learn the drop down mecanique on her shot and aim in the center of your screen at close range to get those Tracer hit, Wiston you need to aim like Brigitte and Rein same You can miss by not haveing the range to ATK. For Sym you can also miss by not tracking the enemie well (and you can also miss by Range too if you shot 50% of your ammo in because you don't know it range you will be left whit a bad DPS beam.) OW stopped being fun for me once everyone (on PS4) either became toxic or one tricks. It’s all about the solo game and tons of players refuse to switch off characters if the team doesn’t need them. I’ve ended games (as Moira) with gold medals in healing damage and eliminations while everyone else does nothing at all but complain all game about how everyone else is bad and they’re top 500.

I think people are quitting in general. Lack of lore, content and most importantly proper balancing is causing it. The game is frustrating to play, communications are lacking and powercreep is real. People have been crying about heroes like Junkrat, D.va, Moira, Symmetra and Brigette over and over, but the two heroes I've ever had big problems with are Genji and Tracer. While spam from Junkrat, D.va eating all your shit, Moira sucking your soul, or Brigette or Symmetra just being in your face can be frustrating, all of their cases there are simple counter heroes and strategies. If you complain about them instead of counterpicking, that's on you. But over these two years I'ven oticed that basic ability designs of both Genji and Tracer seem to make it possible for them to keep harrassing shutting down entire enemy teams when played well, all the while dodging everything your team is trying to thow at them. I get that I'm probably being mad by simply being outplayed by more skilled players, but I've personally come to feel some sort of contrast between good Tracers and Genjis and good Junkrats/D.vas/Moiras/Symmetras/Brigittes being that those hated heroes still are designed to have limitations which can be exploited. All the while good Tracers and Genjis don't seem to have nothing to fear, mostly simply because of just having a kit that's designed to be annoying and harrassing. I've had many cases where my team has managed to counter Junkrats/D.vas/Moiras/Symmetras/Brigittes well with hero picks and strategies, all the while Tracers and Genjis keeping it going no matter how many flanker counters we have. So I'm pretty happy those two heroes are not being as popular right now.
