My guess NBA didn't suspend him in the beginning of the series is because they probably didn't have enough evidence yet. But now when Lebron is involved they suspended him. But it's Draymond's fault anyway because he wouldn't have gotten suspended if he didn't get all those technical's and flagrant's, but it's about time he paid for his consequences

Amazing how the narrative changes. Last series, when Draymond kicked Adams, many was in an uproar saying the league favors Golden State. Now when he gets suspended for a groin punch, the league is in favor of Cleveland. What my take on this is that this was a build-up suspension as opposed to being suspended for this actual incident. Had Green not build up this reckless behavior, this would have just been a flagrant and no suspension had I been in control. His teammates need to tell him to cool it and maintain his composure. But LeBron is at fault for instigating. He wouldn't have reacted had LeBron not lose his cool because his team was losing.

Either the ref that was right there should be fired for incompetence, after the series they admit they should have given equal punishments to Draymond or Lebron, or it is clear other factors were at play. Should Draymond have been suspended for the Adams kick? Absolutely, i support Golden State, and I think he should have. But that's not the issue here. Past reputations can't really count cos Delly didn't get a flagrant for his unintentional nutshot and he has a more egregious history than Green. Korver needed ankle surgery, Iguodala doubled over, Lebron didn't even know he was hit in the nuts, so if Green is having no benefit of the doubt, then Delly should have got none as well, and been upgraded to flagrant 1. But, worst of all, in the past Green's hits were unprovoked so you can see why flagrants were given. Here, Green was arguably fouled, was looking to get up, didn't chirp at Lebron even after the initial foul, and Lebron stepped over him. Lebron looked down, knew exactly what he was doing, and before Cleveland fans say oh he was trying to get back in the play, how does Lebron know where the play is when he is looking down at Green? The correct rotation might have been the weak side for all he knew. Numerous past players, hell even Kevin Love called the move disrespectful. The reaction was proportionate and in response to a taunt. A technical would have been fair. But if we're reviewing no calls, why no review for Lebron's judo chop on Curry, or why no review on the last sequence on Curry (44 secs left) where he rough houses Curry with a trip, elbow and a kick. Hell there are ten plays a game you can probably review. It really doesn't look good for the league, and as for Lebron, he is becoming more and more unlikeable with each game

Enough with it Warriors fans, it's getting sad watching you guys trying so hard to blame everyone. Lebron didn't throw green down tbh, green was the one that flopped, so it's on him. Green decides to swing at Lebron, which is a flagrant. Swinging your arms to hit a player is not a basketball move, so it warrants a flagrant. That give green 4 flagrant fouls, which is automatic suspension. Stop being ignorant with your comments. Green knew he would get suspended if he did that and he still did it anyway.
@CrazyFoo5018 жыл бұрын
I'm convinced that NBA suspended Draymond to protect LeBron and the Cavs, if this exact sequence happened against nearly anybody else he wouldn't have been. GSW still has a fair shot at winning if Curry and Klay have solid games and Iggy can play an extra 10-15 without tiring out or getting into foul trouble.

This is dumb. Based on your logic you are saying the nba made this call for the money. There is clearly a nationwide love for the Warriors much like the lakers when they had there three peat. There is skepticism in the golden state team and to see if they deserve the praise they get. Why would the nba get in the way of that? Most people don't like lebron and want him to lose, and based on your logic (and most people who don't actually watch basketball and just see highlights) you think the nba is rigging this to give Cleveland a chance? It would be the exact opposite. Some would even say nba is intentionally missing calls this whole season against this team considering they get away with so much but when you got a guy kicking and hitting people in the nuts it starts to go overboard. It's bad enough they set moving screens constantly but at a point they have to stop someone from blatantly making unnecessary contact.

NBA TV money is locked in, they dont get more money for a longer series. The stadium profits are negligible in comparison. It's more likely just the fact that Green tried to step on his heel, swung twice (lightly hitting Lebron in the balls the first time). It's an obvious flagrant. Even lebron cant knock Green over with his left arm backhanded. It was a flop to begin with. The whole reason Green can play in the league is because he's immovable.
@tvstealer8 жыл бұрын
Better ratings and more fan interest means more money next time negotiations come around. The TV deal is locked in for 10 years, that doesn't mean the NBA just doesn't care about ratings for the next 10 years because it's locked in.

Thank you for the video and the great info as always. I think it should have been a tech on both guys after the altercation and be done with it ON COURT. The upgrade came 2 days after the match, usually upgrades are announced on the next day and after a semi-rant from Lebron who took something too personally and did not leave it on court. Even guys who were harassed by Garnett knew that what happens in the court stays in the court. You can't come out and act all "i am going to take the high road" when you had something to do with all that. This was a great move by the NBA to attract more people to the finals in my opinion. I do not condone with Green's act or saying he should not have benn punished, but timing and circumstances beg for an observer to take in mind the general context of the matter.
@andrewarnold30278 жыл бұрын
If a groin shot is automatically a flagrant, how come Delly didn't get called for a flagrant when he nailed Iggy in the groin? Didn't even review it! My God, at least be consistent; I would've been not as mad at Draymond's suspension if they were at least consistent. Also, LeBron tripped him intentionally and stepped over him to try to get Draymond to react, which he did (and he shouldn't have). I will say that I'm not sure if he actually hit LeBron because LeBron didn't react to it. I believe that is a bad call by the league office.
@supermanrun23138 жыл бұрын
Because Delly wasn't on thin ice like Draymond was. Delly should've gotten a flagrant but Draymond been committing techs and flagrants ever since the playoffs started.

+Denni Allen even if Draymond got suspended for the Adams kick, he would've been out for game four, which the Thunder won, so it wouldn't have mattered anyways. Also, I'm not hating, I just don't see how that is a flagrant and Delly's wasn't. And Delly wouldn't have gotten suspended, Green only got suspended because of multiple flagrants, I just wanted consistency. I'm not a 'one year fan', as you so claim, I've been a fan since 2013 when I moved to San Francisco. Also, you have awful grammar; I honestly had to read your comment multiple times to get the actual meaning.

+William Scott It shouldn't matter whether Draymond's on thin ice or not. Yeah, if a player has a dirty history, he is probably more likely to have plays that might not fouls, but he gets called for them anyways. But for a play like what Delly did, I think if you're going to call a flagrant on Draymond, you gotta call a similar play on Delly. Also Delly has a history of dirty plays too.

I said it before and I'll say it again: Both men were equally involved, both kept engaging one another, and both were at fault. I think a suspension was a proper punishment, but the fact that only one of them got that punishment while the other just gets a technical is what makes me question the legitimacy of that call, especially when the one who gets the suspension is on the team that's one win away from winning the playoffs two times in a row. If Green got suspended, then LeBron should also have gotten suspended.
@deltafarce10438 жыл бұрын
Well obviously you didn't read into this properly. Draymond Green was issued a Flagrant 2 and a fine AFTER the game where he kicked Steven Adams in the nuts. Lebron was trying to bait a double tech for both of them because lebron knows Draymond already has 1 tech. But because Draymond hit lebron in the nuts again he accumulated enough flagrant points as a result for a suspension. After he lost the finals Draymond acknowledged that the finals taught and helped him as a man and as a player because he felt he was responsible for his actions knowing that he is one wrong move away from a suspension.

see this is where the arrogance of GS fans comes into play. as hard as it is for a GS fan to wrap their mind around, Green had to *ACCRUE* these fouls throughout the Playoffs to finally be suspended for them. @MrAwesomeMatty8 жыл бұрын
Ohio Against The World Actually, you're misguided. I'm actually a Kings and Bucks fan (seriously, you do not know how hard I celebrated at the Bucks destroying GSW's winning streak). I just think that if two athletes get into a fight, they should both have equal punishments. Though, I do understand what you mean and I respect what you feel on the matter. But acting a bit smug at the end and labeling me as a GSW dick-sucker because I view the matter differently than you? Quick to assumptions there, buddy. Understandable with how my comment was worded, but still wrong.
@OhioOwns8 жыл бұрын
I get that, truly, but what fight? are you saying James stepping over him is James "fighting"? because all I saw was Green getting up trying to hit James, then them getting in each others faces. should players get T's every time they talk shit at each other? because every player in the NBA would probably be suspended. James was issued a T either way, but it wasn't his 4th of the Playoffs. Green had to accumulate those penalties in order to get an actual suspension, if it was James 4th of the Playoffs he would've been suspended also. I understand your way of thinking, but the NBA isn't "eye-for-an-eye" when it comes to fouls. they don't suspend a good player from the other team just to make things more even. if it was all about making things even, they shouldn't have let Green or Thompson play for GS last year when Irving and Love were out.

Hey Coach.... awesome channel you got here :) The whole sequence of events on that play, is just embarrassing for the NBA. There where tons of fouls to call, but ended up in a double foul as a sort of cop out. Foul 1 on LeBron: Green sets a screen for Curry and LeBron wraps his arm around Green and pushes him into Kyrie. Foul 2 on LeBron: Throws Green to the ground. (LeBrons leg is in between Greens... indicates that he ment to do it). Could have been a Tech!!! Tech 1 on LeBron: Walks over Green (Physical taunt). Tech 2 on Green: Reacts to LeBrons taunt. Foul 3 on LeBron: Graps Green around shoulders while battling for the rebound. That is just to many missed calls... with a reff up close to the first altercation. And ended up in a weird flagrant 1 on Green, thanks to the lobbycall from LeBron. Delly hit Iggy in the crown AND jewels, and nothing was called or reviewed. Consistent? Not really. Anyways... thanks for a great channel. I always look forward to your insight on the game! Cheers from Denmark :)

Reply to 10:00 you don't get a chance to determine fragrant foul which extended to suspension of key player every game, that's why you don't get 7 games in each series! But when you get the chance to extend it to game 6/7, they would take it in no time! Why can't the refs decide it on court ? Why does this have to involve the Vice President of NBA to determine a simple foul which happened right in front of ref 43? Shouldn't you fire ref 43 in this case!? Everything should be decided on court and this is what the fans want!

The players should decide the championship, not the officials. Terrible refereeing the whole game and it results in a key player getting suspended and a loss which wouldn't have been. Also if you are going to suspend him, why wasn't he suspended for repeatedly kicking out earlier in the playoffs? If he was, than OKC would be playing in the finals series.

I would change the rules of point assessment so that if a player was close to a suspension based on a threshold, the player would automatically be ejected based on the line that was crossed. Draymond Green's punishment was a flagrant foul type 1, with his limit having already been reached. Had the referees caught the act in the same game instead of much later, Green would have been thrown out instantly. Same for a technical foul, but only if Green reached a limit. Green's ejection would have changed the game just about enough for the Cavaliers to win Game 4 and prevent a 3-1 automatic series loss. The way I see this, the only reason the NBA gave out this penalty was because the Warriors had already clinched the series with the virtue of being up 3-1. No team in Finals history has ever recovered from a 3-1 deficit, let alone a 3-0 deficit. Seeing as the Cavs are officially done and the Warriors are destined to repeat, the league finally responded to the criticism raised by the fans by using the point system to usher Green's suspension. Could it be possible the Cavaliers are now guaranteed a Game 5 victory because of this? Or, is it because the NBA wants to see another 3-peat, and they're willing to protect the Warriors by any means necessary? This Finals series has turned the NBA's legitimacy on its side. No matter what the league does to make things fair and balance for fans, competition and overall entertainment, the cries have all been the same. I've read tweets claiming that the series is rigged. Some have pulled the Helen Lovejoy card, forcing the NBA to think of the children. This is pretty bad. Whether there's a flaw in the penalty point system or a conspiracy theory to make the Warriors the second coming of the Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls, it doesn't matter. It's too late for the Cavaliers to come back now. The 3-1 lead is realized, and this series is over.

It's all to milk money out of the fans, Green never got suspended when he kicked Adams in the nuts because they were actually in jeopardy of losing that series at the time and of course the NBA wants GS to go to the Finals and that was a sad day because we were all witnesses to the NBA rigging the game for interest. Exactly why Green got suspended now, to extend the series a little bit longer to get more money out of it. I'm going for the Cavs because I hate the Warriors but GS would've won game 5 with Green

Why does the NBA want GS to win 1 series and Cleveland to win another series? The NBA has already been paid via the TV Contract no matter who wins. You are pointing fingers at the wrong people. Some gangster/gambler type taking bets on the game... that guy might rig a game. Maybe the TV Network that has already paid for the series... maybe they would rig a game to get an extra game. Maybe the owner of the Warriors or the Cavs would rig a game so that they can sell tickets and concessions to 1 more game... and in this case it would be Golden State owner because losing game 5 on purpose got him 2 more home games. (And I guess you could say the Cavs owner might try to rig game 7). But even the owners... they have way more money at stake to NOT CHEAT (and thereby lose their team and the huge stacks of cash their teams earn for them by the NBA taking their franchise away... which they can do). It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that any of these games are rigged? But if they WERE rigged the ONLY entity involved that gets NOTHING out of rigging the games is the NBA.

Looks like Lebron's been practicing on his BJJ moves. Kidding aside, Green should have been suspended whne he kicked Adam's below the belt the second time, but not on this one. Why would the nba not suspend him in a series that was in OKC's advantage and which was way worse of a hit but then suspend him in a series where GS has the advantage and where he barely touched Lebron in a scuffle initiated by Lebron? Edit: NBA refs already have a bad reputation with tim donaghy scandal and refs like joey crawford don't help. So how can NBA not expect fans to be suspicious?

If you don't blow the whistle then nothing happened. How can refs make one rule for themselves and another for the players. If a foul is missed, refs are not obliged to change the call. But refs can call something not previous called in order to prove a point and justify their actions.
@oswaldocontreras15078 жыл бұрын
Ayo, coach. Why didn't Delly nor James get a flagrant for hitting Iggy in the groin earlier this series? Delly's was on purpose, don't give us that "he was swinging at the ball" BS. He swung at balls, Iggy's. Then Lebron a game or two later hits Iggy with a forearm during one of his "signature" steam roll to the basket drives. Which should be an offensive foul every time. Draymond grazes LBJ's ass/hamstring on his way up and gets suspended for a "groin shot" when there was no call during the game though the ref was standing about ten feet from them??How do you, or Ronnie, for that matter perceive that?

@maxx_thedragondominator8 жыл бұрын
This was not a fragrant foul if the Lebron James step over wasn't. It was not clear that Draymond hit him on purpose but it was clear that Lerbon James stepped over him and sat his balls on Draymond's neck. The only thing clear about this situation is that the league office took a chance to extend the series thus helping Cleveland.

I personally don't care about either team in this final series I don't care who wins. However, its very interesting how Coach Nick brought up how maybe the NBA is worried about the series being short. I do believe that they are worried about that. You could even called the series or NBA its self this season rigged. However, this would apply to have certain team that they would want to face off each other. Also Draymond Green deserved to get suspended. I say this partly because I do not like him, but speaking in a bias perspective, he has done this too many times without a punishment. Not a fine of $25,000. That doesn't mean anything to him hes a millionaire. However, if the Cavs do not play team basketball they won't even make it past game 5, if the Cavs want a chance, they need to capitalize on the fact that Draymond is not playing.
@patrickferguson87753 жыл бұрын
Lebron initiated that whole thing. He shoved draymond to the ground, steeped over him, and kept shoving draymond when he was boxing him out. After the refs blew a wistle Draymond was walking away and lebron kept trying to come after him and his teammates were holding him back. This was complete bullshit! Draymond was also aggressive but lebron caused it. if u are going to suspend draymond for that u gotta suspend lebron. But the Nba didn't do that to protect their poster boy queen james. This is why the mommentum shifted after this.The most rigged play in sports!!

Why is no one talking about the moving screen from Green? Is it not a moving screen? Green set up the screen, pushed lebron back away from Curry (which is already a moving screen), lebron tried to get pass him and he kept his arm in front of lebron to force him not to go over him (which is illegal again). It was already a foul on Green in the beginning disregarding what happened after. If any of you play basketball you know how frustrating moving screens are, that is why it is considered a foul. Please explain if I am wrong.

I love these court calls with Ronnie, but its more then annoying when people use "passion" to hide the fact: Kneeing and kicking Adams was premeditated. Green knew he would go for the flail kick if the opportunity presents to kick Adams and make it seem like "nothing happened". The only thing passionate was when he slipped ONCE and chose the wrong time to kick Adams. And even for that one he wasn't suspended. The way I see it, he got away with at least 2, and "almost" (in game) got away with a third one.

LeBron James was the instigator (a very angry, frustrated player whose team was about to lose at home), and his VICTIM got suspended, all over a very LAME reaction. There isn't an NBA player out there who wouldn't have reacted (most even more than Green did!) to having James put his left leg behind him and karate-chopping him across the neck, knocking him to the floor, looking down at him, then stepping over the top of him as he was trying to get up (from what that idiot ref, Dan Crawford, should have called a flagrant foul on James immediately - it happened right in his face!). This whole thing, to quote Stephen A. Smith (and many others) was a "travesty", "Egregious", And the Warriors suddenly looked like a different team than the one that won 73 games - it took the wind out of their sails - they lost their aggressive edge that got them there. Much to Cleveland's credit, they exploited this to a championship...but, bottom line: no bogus suspension=no game six - Warriors in 5.

Now the suspension and without Bogut, the Cavs have an undeserving chance.

I still think the business aspect wants longer series. it doesn't mean every round will be 7 games, if they interfered to that extent, it would be too obvious what they're doing. and as an unscripted sport, people wouldn't watch. I think they just take opportunities like this to subtly swing a series. Why they didn't suspend him when GS was down vs okc and why the did suspend him with GS up. and I know the narrative is a flagrant foul count, but it didn't stop an immediate suspension of a clevlend role player the night before green's kick to Adams. Although green's kick looked far worse, the league handled the situation differently because the team the attracts the biggest audience would have been likely put to rest if they handled it the same way.
