It's got zero connection to race. It's about soot, or carbon from hundreds of thousands of chimneys ( domestic and industrial) polluting and colouring brickwork. . . Don't forget the region's industrial standing, too. There's even a species of moth called the Pepper Moth which mutated to a black form to evade predators ( it could hide in plain sight without being eaten)

Its because of the industrial revolution. It used to be an area of industry with coal mining (which is black) also so much smoke and what from factories that they used to say the sky was black by day and red by night( because of the furnaces) many of the buildings would have been like the buildings in peaky blinders blackened on the outside from the smoke

Thanks for the contribution, you are and i am also right..... Wolverhampton city centre falls outside of the area traditionally known as the Black Country, although some areas such as the town and former borough of Bilston and Heath Town and the Willenhall side of Wolverhampton fall within the Black Country coalfields, leading to confusion as to whether the entire city falls
@careytitan9097 Жыл бұрын
The Black Country was the heart of the Industrial revolution. There were no Black people there, only indigenous whites. None of the people you interviewed are indigenous but the Polish guy got it right. Industry created mass pollution, churning black soot from the furnace's and factories, blocking out the sun, also the coal seam, where the poor indigenous whites toiled and died young from lung diseases, the slaves of the rich elites. Britain had no black slaves because they had white ones. The furnaces of the chain makers made the chains for the Titanic, Joe Mallen was one, who got the working mans Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed recognised and won crufts best of breed with his dog Gentleman JIm. The fact you have to ask means you are a foreigner.
@raphaelwhitney Жыл бұрын
Definitely I am a foreigner… I actually wanted to know if foreigners who lived there knows the reason why it’s called the Black Country… But it was unfortunate that I didn’t really get enough people beca when I got to the location the market was closed. Carey I really appreciate your contributions… Thanks so much for being part of the community… Dudley has a lots of history which is not known to many people… So we need to promote the culture and heritage

@@raphaelwhitney What is the 'WE''? Fact is you do not belong here in the first place, you are a foreign Immigrant, not one of us! Just as I would be an Immigrant in Africa. Living somewhere does not make you an indigenous person of a country. Nor are those Asian's or Polish guy you interviewed indigenous. None belong here. Our History does not include you or any other immigrant, so do not pretend that it does!

You do realise that the government is at fault. They promised the immigrants all these nice jobs and money. Then they shoved them in back streets. I’m mixed. I’m a British person.
