Ok in no particular order (other than I'm sort of going clockwise).... Pendeford: Mostly a decent area but there's one minor estate that although on the edge of town, years ago suffered the fate of having some bad families move there from further in and nowadays the youths are into gang stuff. St Anne's Estate, Oxley: underrated as a bad area. Not the worst but a small estate cut off from the rest with some characters. Shelley Avenue, Oxley/Bushbury: Another underrated one. Small but rough little estate in an otherwise ok area. Someone innocent horribly was shot in the park there in recent times. Bushbury/Scotlands/Low Hill: Might as well put these together as it's almost one continuous housing estate. Mostly good people but bloody rough in parts and very run down in parts. The bit of Scotlands by the pub that got shut down is pretty bad and for me, as well as Showell Circus which attracts everyone, Guy Avenue seems a bit hairy at times. Okement/Torridge Drive, Wednesfield: Three huge tower blocks and a bunch of smaller flats. Pretty rough. Fairly sure they bump up the overall crime rate for Wednesfield. Castlebridge Gardens, Wednesfield: A very small estate of maisonettes with some undesirables. Very small but the way it's laid out could be intimidating for a newcomer. Park Village (the area): Inner city main road with a bunch of rough terraced houses streets just off it. Wits needed at night I would say. New Park Village (the estate): A throwback to the 70s. Maisonettes all linked by overhead walkways. Loads of good people there but also a bit of a gang problem. Cut off from the rest. Heath Town Estate: Lived there as a teen when it was really bad. 4 huge tower blocks, 5 smaller ones and then loads of Maisonettes that were always linked by walkways. Estate has been done up and whilst it's improved it's still got gang problems. Lunt Estate: Proper trashy estate on the edge of Bilston bordering Darlaston. Coronation Estate, Bilston: just near Hickman Park. Proper naughty area. Eastfield: Nothing like as bad as it was but it's a large council estate on the inner East side and as such you'll always have some undesirables. Ettingshall Village: and surrounding area near Priestfield metro station. I love it round there but there definitely are some wrong uns. Parkfield/All Saints: putting these 2 together as they border one another. Bit of a gang problem. Definitely a prostitution problem especially around Kent Road. In recent years a high percentage of lower class Eastern Europeans who behave better than Blacks and Whites when it comes to crime but seem to neglect their areas pretty badly. Graiseley/Merridale/Pennfields: Sort of inner south West side and moving further out. Nothing like as rough as other areas mentioned but if you go there thinking it's a walk in the park then you'll get a nasty shock. Merry Hill: not the shopping centre but the estate with tower blocks right on Wolverhampton south West edge. Not a great area. Unexpected gang problems too. Whitmore Reans: Rough. Gang problems. Run down severely in parts. Wits needed. I WAS going to talk about Blakenhall Gardens from back in the day but let's be positive here.....a horrible high rise estate existed and was eventually knocked down. Though there's still a bit of rough in those parts, the reality is that the Sikhs have totally made that area their own and that's a good thing. You won't find many inner city areas with LESS crime as this one. Quality Asian shops and restaurants. A couple of rough streets but they look worse than they are. And of course a stones throw away is Goldthorn Park, an almost 100% Asian area that's wealthy, lovely and well kept and an advert for all that's right with immigration. I love Wolverhampton

Yeah I forgot about Ellerton Walk flats, Park Village, and who could forget Blakenhall Gardens 6 tower blocks before they were knocked down! Pendeford dovecotes definitely has some bad uns but it’s ok to go through. Rocket Pool at Bradley is another little area that is a bit rough. I think Rakegate/Oxley is ok though. I agree about Sikhs and also Hindus. Generally great hard working people who retain their own customs of course but otherwise intergrate superbly and are not at all much different to the white population. They fought alongside us in the war remember too.

I moved to Wolves from Sutton Coldfield some 10 years ago and yes, it’s a bit rough in places, (same as any other city) but the majority of people I've met here are decent, kind hearted and lovely folk. What I love most about Wolverhampton are the large amount of open green spaces on the outskirts of the city. For instance, a 10 minute walk from Whitmore Reans, (less if you include West Park) brings you to the Staffs/Worcs Canal and Smestow Valley Nature Reserve or Aldersley Leisure Village, with open fields and more canal walks. There are numerous other open green spaces dotted around the city and in fact, I think we're spoilt for choice here. Personally, I prefer living here to Sutton Coldfield.

I was born in New Cross hospital and lived in Wednesfield for the first few years in one of the high rise flats, later in Lanesfield. Thankfully my parents managed to move to Wales when i was 8 pushed by the rising crime. I still go back but so much has changed and is in serious decay. I can see some of that early corrosion moving into where i am now. Flooding out from the cities that are overflowing with diverse lowlife. Thank you diversity.

I've lived in Wolverhampton since *1984* and while I won't argue with the crime statistics, it luckily doesn't feel as bad as this video makes Wolverhampton to be. I'm very familiar with *Heath Town* and *Whitmore Reans* and never had any problems. The only trouble I've ever had in *Heath Town* was after dark with a badger and a 3-legged ginger cat that stalked me for about a week.

Genuinely surprised Wednesfield came top of the list and not remotely surprised about the rest. Wednesfield has always been lovely. Thanks for posting. It's interesting to see the areas we tourists don't want to see in person. I live in Toronto and we have many areas that are dystopian also. Especially well-intentioned public housing neighbourhoods built from the late 40s to the 70s. What they didn't foresee was drug culture--total game changer. And the mixing of cultures in one cramped location. Religions and different traditions are usually going to clash, at least at first.

I've lived in Wolverhampton for the past 5 years now, never had any trouble. Yes it has its rough places but to be honest I've never been uneasy walking around on my own (I wouldn't say I'm a hard bloke but I can look after myself if needed and I'm fairly streetwise). I think you've just gotta keep your wits about you. I grew up in Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham, and from experience that was a much worse place to live. Regular fights, robberies, even attempted murders/murders right on my doorstep (research the death of Nicola Dixon, late 90s if I remember correctly).

Whole heartedly agree that Wolverhampton has quite the crime rate and could do with some more support from the higher-'ups, but to highlight a city/town on crime alone is a one-sided view. I know a guy who was voted in unanimously as chairman of a WR residents association by the neighbours because of his attempts to pull the neighbourhood together. They solved all the major problems on one estate almost overnight. It was a great success. It was due to neighbours working together toward a common goal. Then there was a problem in Maxwell road, in All Saints area with an ethnic group propositioning young Asian girls coming from school. Both English, Carribean and Asian ethnicities clubbed together and had the offenders evicted only to have them replaced by friends of the same offending group. The police and council were inefectual and the local newspaper covered the story. All Saints is a concrete jungle where the high yellow moon wont come out to play. ☹️ The Lunt is a place where a stranger would be well advised to stay away from. Just the look of the place says everything. The council have capitualated here

Born and raised Wolverhampton now live Birmingham but I'm in Wolverhampton most days. Yes there are some really bad parts but, and I say this as a genuine compliment to Wolverhampton and NOT for roadmen to take offence to, but Birmingham is on another level. With Wolverhampton and also the wider Black Country, there's still a local pride and friendliness and once you're not involved in anything you'll be just fine. Birmingham is a hell hole where even the innocent are in danger and the youth are totally lost, just pure evil. Wolverhampton? I enjoy walking even around the worst areas and yes don't be stupid and keep your wits about you but I'm not constantly watching my back like in Birmingham. The thing that’s forgotten about London is that there’s still huge investment within the city, although there are bad parts there is WAY more opportunity. There is a HUGE shortage of housing. It is not like Sweden where everyone has a place to live (the hoods as you are alluding - literally no housing here in the uk). All races places and spaces are mixed and Wolverhampton does NOT have racial tensions. But it was granted city status which means little. The Midlands is very geographical, it has no coastline, but food is plentiful. The drug wars are between all possible racial suppliers of all possible nationalities of all possible concoctions. The drug wars are because the cash has DRIED-UP.

I tried to be fair with the knowledge I have; I did mention that a lot of the crime is shoplifting, I could tell there is some community spirit in the area, and there are some good facilities - and I'm happy to hear you're happy there and have good neighbours, that's crucial to a happy home life. I think it's also important to shine a light on the worst areas though, which I hope doesn't come across as negative, but I'm sure the council could be doing more to bring up to standard. I'll always remember my time in Wednesfield, if not just because someone walking out of the shops next to the blue tower block threatened to 'crack me' if I captured him in my filming 😂

Yes correct, and you also have Phil and Mary Bateman who are councillors in that area: both, people of integrity and values. Phil spends his days collecting old mattresses for the poor and destitute. Mary slaves over a hot stove all day baking pies: and the one,s Phil does not eat are distributed to the poor....what wonderful people. Both of these angels in human form, are potential Prime Ministers. I forsee the day, when Phil and Mary gallop into downing street on horseback, and Phil announces his arrival by smashing a medieval ball and chain into number 10s door. Sunak will scurry out, and into a taxi....giving way for a supreme statesman to take the reins. After a rousing speech to the millions outside, he will take that first step, in a long journey to that elusive land of milk and honey, where there is no want, and everyone owns their own mattress. And on that long lonely journey if this gentleman comes across a snail in distress.....he will move it to safety, that just shows the calibre of this fine gentleman, and Mary will assist in the rescue of this small creature if need be. We are indeed blessed to have these fine human beings amongst us, people who history will record......will be our finest leaders ever: akin to Churchill, and Alfred the great. I say a little pray each night, that this great hope, will indeed be realised, and Phil and Mary will turn the UK into a paradise on earth.

I really think you need to do the research again because clearly you havnt done it correctly, to say wednesfield is number 1 is absolutely laughable. I live in wednesfield and actually u filmed my home by walking past, i have never had issues where i live and the house prices are expensive compared to the other areas u have stated are not so dangerous. The other areas u have stated are more dangerous than wednesfield. What about, heath town, park village, low hill, and dunstall, i know these areas are worse and havnt made the list. What an absolute cheek!!! Clearly sound like a privileged person looking down on areas, prob never even lived here!!! Instead of paying big bosses in councils to sit on their arses doing nothing and overcharging people council taxes and robbing the poor maybe crime rates would come down and re-open facilities for youth and initiatives then wouldnt be so much poverty around. No matter where you go will always see level of deprivation and crime!!! Thats life unfortunately!!! Waste of a video in my opinion and very biased.

Thanks for your video. Whilst I realise you've taken the time to look at the stats I need to pick you up on West Park. The stats here are skewed due to the fact that it hosts a lot of events that attract a lot of people and where you have lots of people you have a lot of crime so that's why the figures are like they are. Saying that I was kerb crawled at 2pm on the edges of West Park once when I was 19 lol. Also Wednesfield isn't really a suburb of Wolverhampton it's a town in its own right that happens to be in the borough. I used to live in Whitmore Reans as a student and I absolutely loved it. Very Asian, cheap rent, close to town, staggering distance from the pub. I think I paid £15 a week rent in 1987. Happy Daze

Wednesfield is far from the roughest area. Maybe because there are a lot of shops the crime rate is higher. From living in Wolverhampton my whole life and being a delivery driver knowing the whole city quite well I’d say 1. Low Hill/Bushbury 2. Heath Town 3. Whitmore Reans These 3 by far the worst but after that 4. Merridale 5. The Lunt (bilston) 6. Warstones But tbh I don’t think Wolverhampton is a dangerous place to live it’s more to do with poverty and petty crimes. I’d quite happily walk anywhere in the city at night, whereas london Birmingham Manchester no chance 😅

Warstones rough??? Merridale too?? Holy crap things must have changed a bit since I left in the late 80s! Grew up in Penn Fields and actually walked to school in Merridale, it was never really rough but there were a few seedy looking bedsits and HMOs around. As to Warstones, I'm shocked, my Grandparents lived up towards the Penn Road but really only a quarter of a mile from the Warstones Road, it used to be just boring and although not well off, not run down or dirty either, people used to look after their modest semi-detached houses and gardens. What's happened there?

I know Wolverhampton like the back of my hand, it is greatly improved, which is true anywhere, but the worst pockets are not really looked at here - Park Village (Prosser St/Crowther St/ Ellerton Walk), All Saints (Gordon Street/All Saints Road), Heath Town (Chevil Rise/Long Ley), Whitmore Reans (Leicester St/Staveley Rd), Pennfields/Graiseley(Lime Street/Merridale Street West/Fisher Street) , bits of the Lunt estate (Bilston), Castlebridge Gardens estate (Wednesfield), Hickman Estate (Wednesfield), and finally but certainly not least the Scotlands estate (Keats Road/Ruskin Road/Tennyson Road) which I think is the most intimidating unless its morning, raining, or cold (:-.. Having said that, 80% of people in all areas are good people, and it is unfair to call out the areas that they live in. But the other 20% can make their immediate environment challenging. Gone are the days when there was slum housing or boarded up streets, so on the surface even the worst areas in most cities do not seem that bad any more, i am glad to say

Appreciate you sharing that info. I tend to go with the offical crime stats as people can't always agree on what the worst areas are, but I know that stats only tell part of the story when it comes to hige crime and anti social areas. In some videos I included areas that locals have told me are defo the worst, but I couldn't get any good information on Wolverhampton before visiting. I will go back at some point through, and I will certainly visit all the areas you mentioned that I didn't already include.

@@ukexplored Cheers mate. Some crime stats are made worse by having shopping precincts (Wednesfield) or homeless hostels (West Park) nearby. You’ve looked at Whitmore Reans and Heath Town, perhaps the two obvious areas with gang problems. To be honest, these days most estates are a pale shadow of what they once were with lots of Government aid. Half of Heath Town has been demolished and there a few areas with rows of empty houses anymore. Same as everywhere. Also some areas like Park Village and the Scotlands come into their own on a warm summers day but can appear ok on a grey winters day. Enjoyed your review.

I have never felt uncomfortable walking around anywhere in Wolves, The places you've filmed around City Centre like all Cities are bit rough yes but Wednesfield is not NO.1, We live in Wednesfield & its actually a great family place to live on the whole & safe, has everything without going into the City, all kids go out with friends or walk around alone, never really worried about them, Every school is new & rebuilt grounds play areas ( luckily before Tories got in & stopped school rebuilding project) Bentley Bridge is Huge has everything shops food restaurants biggest cinema in UK & all around the areas you filmed there's lovely even beautiful areas to live in Wolves Beautiful houses & areas as nice as anywhere & it's so green everywhere.

I lived in a tower block. There was no violence in the area, and very little crime (non violent) in the city itself. I could walk around until very late, and even until early morning, and feel completely safe. Never heard of any muggings or violent assaults in the city. I really miss living there. I must point out however, this city was in another country and not in the UK. It's a pity the UK doesn't have the same safe environment. I am now back in the UK.

The place does have a beauty of it's own though. Whitemore Reans - Got burgled, friend held at knifepoint at ATM machine. West Park - Someone kicked the front door in on the way home from the pub with his girlfriend. Wednesfield - Woman got hit over the head with an iron bar by 'travellers' and virtually scalped at local pub, never went there again. Constantly multiple police helicopters with search lights flying overhead.

On my way to my interview, I had the pleasure driving though Whitmore Reans and came across a forensic tent in the middle of the road with a dead stabbing victim under it. Whitmore Reans Working mens club isn't a nightclub, the recent shooting happened outside during a funeral. Interesting video, as a long time resident i have a different take although I'll admit its pretty grim.

But the main issues are that local media sucks and tends to get most things wrong, and people in these areas don’t want to talk to me. Therefore I go with Offical police stats. Favourite moments were watching groups of young mothers in the supermarket wearing their dressing gowns and slippers. The deprivation and apathy is palpable, fortunately I get to come back home.

You have badly misrepresented Wednesfield with your footage. You have only shown the worst of it but there's a lot more to it than that.
@ukexplored

I don’t feel like I have misrepresented the area. The official crime stats have Wednesfield as the highest crime rate area in Wolverhampton, and South Wednesfield as one of the highest crime rate areas under Dudley council - and I filmed the highest crime parts of Wednesfield as a fair representation of those stats. Of course there are nice parts of Wednesfield, that’s the case with most towns and large areas.

Hold on how come in Wednesfield you did not disclose the ethnicity of the residents. It is because the majority of the people there is white. Areas like Sedgley is 99% white and full of drugs most middle classed areas are full of coke heads but media want you to believe it is areas of black or brown people that do it. Police vans are in many areas these days. Thats like me taking my camera to middle classed aress and saying they all racist These areas was worse in 80s and 90s. You would think its the Bronx the way how people report stuff here.

Naa lad it's because, why yes the higher classes are coke heads/kiddy fiddlers they don't actually cause the crime in their area, where the police need to be called. Trust me the world knows its a wealth issue and not a race issue. The media only show the world what they want you to believe. Plus they love to stir the pot. Sadly most of the general public are easy to manipulate. So when the media only show crimes being committed by black, Asian people. The rest of the country are going to think that its only those people committing crimes.. why? Because most are nieve people. Damn even some blacks have stopped liking their own race thanks to the media.

I wonder why in a place with such a high crime rate, houses and ground floor flats have no bars/gates on their ground floor windows.

Do you normally see that level of fortification in high crime areas? The businesses do, but I don’t recall seeing with residential properties in many spots across the country.

@@ukexplored Yes, you're right. But I was born in Italy where every ground floor, and even first floors flats, regardless of the area, have window bars. Are Italians less trusting in their own people or are our criminals not as bad as those in Italy?

I think it’s a cultural thing. Thinking of it practically, people rarely get broken into through windows, it’s a noisy way to gain entry and it’s hard for burglars to carry stuff out a window - plus it’s a fire hazard for people in the home.

If black country urban decay is your thing I'd recommend Lye high street or the lost city in Tipton,

Just looking at those two areas and some news reports - wow. I would definitely like to take a look around in person, I’ve added them to my list of places. Thanks very much for taking the time to share that information!

I can only go on the reputation that the lost city holds but if you're seriously considering going to Lye I would make sure your "fight or flight" comment that's was said somewhere else in this thread that your flight is like a concorde. Seriously scarey, we lock our car doors when we have to drive down the High Street. Please approach with caution my friend. But, there are/were some amazing places to eat.

@ukexplored awesome I'll definitely check that video out. Lye has basically been used as a dumping ground by dudley Council they've moved hundreds of roma gypsies into the flats on the High Street in recent years that's caused most of the problems in the area it used to be known as the balti belt for all its Indian restaurants which has mostly shut down due to customers being to scared to come down and kids coming into the restaurants begging. If you go to Dudley make sure you check out wrens nest (the wrenna) which is not only a dog rough estate it's also surrounded by an amazing nature reserve with caves.

Wednesfield is almost a town in its own right, it’s about 3 miles across, sure the areas that you have filmed are not the best, but most of it is ok.

Yeah, it was the most hostile area I’ve filmed so far for sure. Cultural differences in areas make a huge impact, and it’s something not often talked about openly. One small thing I noticed was that dog crap was all over the place in Heath Town, but in Blakenhill, an Asian area, I didn’t have to watch where I stepped because they have very low dog ownership. But the fly tipping and sheer volume of household items dumped in front gardens and on the road across all these areas is just obscene.
