It will never happen. India is the biggest market for cricket and majority people in India download the game from illegal sites making it impossible for the company to make profits. This was the major reason for ea to back out from cricket

EA Cricket remains a competitive game in the market, thanks to its advanced mechanics and physics. The nostalgic feeling it evokes while playing is truly unmatched. The only aspect that needs improvement is the AI. If EA were to enhance the AI, make minor graphical improvements, and release an updated version as EA Cricket 2024, it could become the most popular cricket game ever.

One more reason could be piracy. Until about 10 years ago, most people in the subcontinent relied on pirated games due to several factors. Now the wind is shifting from that. Keeping my fingers crossed for a new studio (an established one other than EA Sports) to give tough competition to BA!!

Another thing not to forget, cricket actually became the “global phenomenon” since 2008 with the arrival of IPL. 15 years later, it is now the top 5 sporting event in terms of money making. Per capita income of sub continent has increased significantly. People are not shying away from getting the costly consoles and games. Again EA gave up on cricket right when it was about to explode with the invent of T20. Wish they go back to their drawing board and think about the potential

It is a shame really, because I think there was room for both EA and Codemasters games, they both offered something different, I liked certain things about EA and other things about Codemasters. Perhaps you are right that the fanbase might have hastened EA to leave the Cricket genre as they probably thought it would save them money if the fanbase was doing all the work for them, and at the same time still picking up some sales of old games. Like one of your contributors commented, there needs to be some competition, or else BA might get lazy with new versions of the game. Sorry for lengthy comment, but I found this video very interesting, thank you.

Every country has a different association even for football. Yes i do agree licensing is nightmare, but imagine paying royalties to BCCI and getting advertisements during IPL and indian cricket games. Code masters is using ashes as the platform to promote its games. I think this is an untapped market and EA is timid in their approach

EA already acquired Codemasters… and yes I preferred the Brian Lara and Ashes 2010 series by Codemasters much better… but mind you Codemasters were not the developers of those games, they were the publishers

i have a big question man my question is why modders cant mod cricket 07 ? im not talking about players and teams and kits , im talking about graphical improvement . is it possible ?

That's quite impossible if you see the process by which the current modders actually mod the game. Every resource in the game has their own files in the game directory. The jerseys, player faces, stadiums, adboards, and the structures outside, are all stored in separate files. Editing the files with dedicated softwares does the trick and you get new items in the game. Even you can make minor changes if you just know the basics, I did a bunch of changes on my own device. However, for graphical improvements you need to change the gaming engine itself. That's not possible for existing modders.

Fair doesnt really matter jn business terms though. If the copies sell then they will make it. Plus microtransaction is now huge for EA and they want people who can spend more and more on they money spinning online mods too.

The publisher announced on Friday that 2.2 million players had gained early access to the game. Now compare that with Cricket 24 and you will see the issue

I am just saying there are approximately 350k ps5 users in india and i am not even counting ps4 nad ps4 pro users. Spiderman 2 sold around 100k units. Now cricket being a household name, i am expecting if not millions atleast there should be a decent sales of around 200-300k if the gameplay is decent.

@RahulRants from me it's almost the same but sangakara too,especially for his coverdrive. Moreover, the standing style in batting position needs to be captured properly. In crick 24 its not correct. Like standing at an angle quiet less than 90° for some batter.
