@Japangf2345 it really is nothing because we've done it before. Actually, relatively close to the California coast. Fun fact. Those atmospheric nuclear tests were how we discovered many elements before paticle accelerators became common. They would rush a fighter jet off the coast and take air samples immediately after the blast and rush it back to a university lab before those new elements could decay.

Yeah when it flies right by earth and in such a short span of time, but technically when an asteroid gets caught in the orbital gravity of earths view for the duration longer than a typical asteroid is why it's called a mini moon, something that's been around for a long time and not just something made up recently to make something sound more dramatic than what it is
@ChrissonatorOFL

Reminds me of Sailor Moon, for her to have Mini Moon, the term though from Sailor Moon and Mini Moon comes from folk lore about a little rabbit being seen on the moon, of which Mini Moon is named after "Chibiusa", interesting enough though Mini Moons are things that's been around, of which when asteroids orbit close to earth and stay with-in proximity for quite some time instead of the casual asteroids we commonly know of that flies by and leaves in a short time frame, that's why it's being labeled as a Mini Moon instead of an asteroid

@yarnicles4616 I’m not sure why my comment was deleted KZbin’s weird. The slingshot maneuver will happen because Earth’s gravity will capture it and put it in our orbit, but yeah you’re right. It will be gone in 2 months and won’t complete a full orbit around our planet. Something being considered a moon has nothing to do with size or anything like that a moon is just any celestial body that orbits a planet acting as a natural satellite. This asteroid will get caught in earths gravitational pull and orbit earth for 2 months so by definition it is indeed a small moon.
