Why Elden Ring Nightreign is actually HYPE!

I can tell this'll be a divisive game in the fanbase, because when we said we wanted Multiplayer, I think most people wanted the seameless co-op mod but in a future game. This is... an interesting take, but I really think it'll end up being a lot of fun, and a nice side-activity if we end up needing a break from replaying the mainline games. At the very least, having bosses designed to be fought with multiple people gives Nightreign this MMO Raid energy that I personally quite like.

I would reckon it's a test to be fair. Like for a true souls borne game but without the wierd old clunky multiplayer system. And also its a project a guy at fromsoft wanted to do and miyazaki said go for it so it's not really a main game

I would like cohesive, seamless co-op molded into an older game. This 1 or 3 player boss rush is not really what I wanted.

One other thing that I haven't seen anyone mention is that people have been begging to refight bosses infinitely for so long already and I think this game re-using old bosses might be the perfect way to do so, because it is still a game with its own unique roguelike mechanics that, as you said, lends itself really well to repeating bosses.

Centipede Demon's limbs coming off and attacking separately from the main body is actually in Dark Souls 1, it's just that since we were always attacking its legs it almost never happened, since they needed to be cut off to come off.

9:32 I keep hearing this, and I swear, I'm absolutely, 99.9% certain, that the Centipede Demon in Dark Souls was perfectly able to have it's limbs cut off, at which point they would writhe on their own and continue to attack. Unless i'm gaslighting myself, Centipede Demon was ALWAYS able to do that.

@@purehollow I seem to remember my summons cutting off the limb so I could get the orange-charred ring to drop, at which point I fumbled around trying to equip it so I could actually fight on the lava. It's like, a core memory lmao. I suspect the only reason the fights last so long in my memory is cause I was almost always at something like level 16. Edit: thanks for confirming this wasn't some kinda mandella effect I was putting myself through.

His limbs would definitely continue to attack you if you managed to cut them off without killing them...They were pretty squishy though, so most people ended up completely destroying them before they could fight back...

at first I was worried but the more we learn about the game the more fun it sounds. with nameless king and centipede demon showing up im honestly relieved that this is a spinoff in a completely different genre, if this was the next souls entry id be worried but now im just hyped lol

I don't think we have gotten official confirmation, but my biggest hope is that all old bosses get updated to get a faster and tougher moveset to handle multiple players.

What I hope for at least in terms of the legacy boss fights is that they dont take the easy way out. Fighting the slow ass slobby Centipede Demon with the speed of Sonic the hedgehog doesnt feel like it would make it better. No a lot of ds1 and ds2 fights will need to be revamped for the modern era since they were designed with a slower protag in mind. Hell ds3 and Elden Ring fights as well given they too still need to be made under a slower movement speed. In general I hope the game is just designed well and just isnt using old fights for nostalgia instead of making new ones.

I've played almost every fromsoft game (not demons souls) and love them. but at the same time I absolutely love games that have more dynamic combat like dragons dogma dark arisen and devil may cry titles. That said, I've always dreamed about fromsoftware making their own dark arisen, their own monster hunter all compiled in a boss rush mode since their bosses are the best. Nightreign if done right is a dream come true to me. While watching the trailer I almost jumped out of my chair when they showed in sequence sekiro-like movement, nameless king and overall boss rush format with solo gameplay option. plus Ishizaki been working on combat direction in fromsoft for over at least 10 years. hope they nail this game, it has potential to be one of the most fun gameplay titles ever made

I do really like the idea that should the servers go down, this game will still be playable! And since I tend to play these games alone anyways....and I do agree that the idea of the Centipede Demon getting a second chance is pretty cool! It's design is actually quite good and creepy! It's really the boss arena in Dark Souls that makes the fight annoying.

Im really hoping they have single player scaling for solo players. I have zero interest in playing with randoms and the small group i play with doesnt play souls type games. If solo players cant realistically progress, this will be a pass.

I have a question: is this channel a safe space to discuss having reservations? Because everywhere else on the internet where I've given my opinion that this isn't jiving with me and I'm a little worried about the asset reuse, I just get accused of 'taking Souls too seriously'. I mean, its all videogames at the end of the day, none of it matters too much. So with that in mind, *relatively*, this seems a little cheap. Basically like a mod. I hope I'm wrong, but the appearance of the Nameless King and the enthusiastic reaction just makes it seem like the bit in the Simpsons where Gabbo says "that'll hold the little SOB's". I don't want the Centipede Demon or Freja fights 'redone and improved' I like them the way they are, warts and all. But of course, I'm probably taking Souls too seriously.
