Honestly, they should just release a new Elementsaber that basically works like Captain Gold. You can ditch it from the hand to the GY to search palace, in the GY you can change its attribute. This gives you an easy extra element in the GY, searches the field spell and actually, through the means of Makani, makes the field spell searchable in archetype.

I *love* Elementsabers, and they can easily be buffed with Call of the Haunted and Foolish Burial and *especially* Terraforming. The thing with Elementsabers is that I almost never brick with them; the Sabers themselves are very synergistic, they just need a bit of help. Lapauila Mana is a VERY strong play mid-game, and the Elemental Lords are end-game finishers with Aina being a HUGE linchpin in tying them together. In short: it's not meta-relevant, but in casual play it's a really strong deck.

Found this archetype because of Master Duel and I've been playing them a lot. I can not believe these are post-link cards, what the fuck. Not a single card does anything by itself. You always have to have a combo piece to do anything in the deck, especially the field spell. True, the synergies of the archetype are really decent, but nothing compared to the actual modern card. If you want to tl;dr why Elementsabers flopped, they came out more than 5 years too late.

I was definitely trying to get those Elementsabers working. But I was wondering if you could make a series called something like "'Misused' Archetypes" where you basically explain an entire archetype's ups and downs then name one card from that archetype that is used in other strategies and not the one it's meant for. For example Shiranui Solitaire. Heck if you even just made a video reviewing Shiranui i would be happy. I feel like it is so close to being a good standalone archetype but it's just receiving meh support.

I agree, they really are so close to being good, thunder dragons are what shiranui were supposed to be in terms of the banishing and recursion gold sarc at 3 does help and burial at 3 helps as well but aside from sunset and solitaire they aren't any other in archetype ways to consistently recurr your resourses.

Zombies have always been sort of a glass cannon monster type. Even back before Shiranui, the old zombie cards didn't have enough UMF. Or powerful cards that could turn the tide. The field would always used to end with lavalval chains or zombie masters with perhaps spam rank 4's like Castel, Diamond Dire Wolf, Utopia, etc.. It was a spam deck. Plus Shiranui are way too frail. It's best combos are probably just popping cards on the field and then summon a shogunsaga for OTK. however, Ash Blossom and Ghost Ogre are a threat. Lmfao.

Heyyy thank you dzeeff for the video, now i can finally stop spamming your live chat on streams asking for the video to be made :P It's such a shame the deck didn't work I loved it for its unique graveyard effect/setup , somehow it reminded me of F.A. where u can manipulate lvls only u here could do it with attributes. It somehow makes your deck more complicated to play but it adds a new dimension to the game, if u master it it's so much fun when your opponent doesn't know what you're doing. Too bad the deck came out too late like u mentioned to be viable competitively, funny how a even better deck that relied so much on a field spell that came out at almost the same time with Liar of Darkness even with a fieldspell that doesn't restrict you from a battle phase and a boss monster that can't be Kaijued wasn't good enough for 2018 TCG YGO. But one thing i still have on my mind is, maybe it's just one of those decks that Konami wants to add later to Duel Links. Maybe there Element Sabers could work, maybe it will come out one day, maybe it won't

You should do a video on the hierarchy for effect costs. The higher on the hierarchy, the more powerful of an effect it would need to be to be worth the cost. for example, paying life points would be lower on the hierarchy than discarding a card, so it takes a weaker effect to make paying life points worth it than discarding a card

Elementsabers were pretty good in Duel Links, i believe their field spell is still limited to 3 to this day. And thanks to the isolde link monster being released they can be a fun casual option

Perhaps you could use the elemntsabers effect to change its attribute in the graveyard to compliment cards like Dark Armed Dragon, BLS Envoy of the end, Chaos Sorcerer, Lightray monsters, or etc... You have to think outside of the box..

I will say I disagree with your last point. Unique decks to a point can give you an edge at a competitive event as not knowing how to play against it can put your opponent on tilt from turn one. As we just saw in The recent YCS Prankids took it all because not many people knew how to play against it.

Not to mention Prank-Kid is insanely good in time with LP gaining and burn effects. And if your opponents have to read every card you play. You can bet the match will end up being decided in time. Prank-Kids was just such a specific rogue deck at a specific meta (some good matchups). 99% of the rogue decks won’t win an event even with the surprise factor. Anyway, you can always try if you really do believe. But even with a rogue deck, it still need to be piloted by a skilled player. Bui made the meta call with Prank-Kids and last time made the call with BA and finished 2nd. It says a lot about him. Not just a random guy with a random deck.

TMX FroZeN “opponents having to read” I.e. once they learn they will better combat them. And to the point of good extra deck monsters not bricking the main deck in Sams deck profile of the winner the pilot himself said the deck bricked a ton and the extra is it’s only saving grace when that happens. I.e. if an opponent knows when to disrupt extra deck summons the deck will still brick. You guys think I said prankids were bad when in reality I said they were good but them being new made them top tier. This point with either be backed up or disproven at the next top level event.

depending on how competitive your locals are you might be able to play Elementsabers invoked - it can still rip 2 cards from your opponents hand turn 1, you can basically make any invoked monster by grave manipulation and it just makes the deck a bit more resilient since lapuila can hit spell/traps and mechaba can hit anything else OPT - discarding for mechaba can be a cheap +200 attack for all your monsters on field and again if you can keep your palace up you're basically able to get +1400 attack maximum out of the field spell alone which counts for all monsters on the field - it definitely isnt a rougue deck but its pretty decent as a fun deck to play with just dont expect topping regionals or anything

This deck is 1 of those decks where I could see that if it got a bit of new support, it could become a tad more consistent... but with the deck itself not having an inherent way to search the Field Spell especially since every good Field Spell searcher is now limited or banned, the deck just can’t do much. Although I feel if the deck had a card that could recycle E-Sabers to your Hand from GY and maybe a Field Spell searcher, it could be a viable rogue to strong casual deck. (Although I will still argue this feels like a GX deck that came out 4 generations too late.)

For the TCG, I think one of the sabers should have had an additional effect to search the field spell. Remove the battle phase skip that the field spell does when you search. Lower the requirement of the Lord's from 5 to 2 and change up some of the effects of the weaker sabers to something more useful.

I really wished makani could search palace out, i never got why they never made an in archetype search for the palace considering how important it is. Still love the deck though, palace often means ripping 4 cards out of your opponents hand going first(2 from moul, 2 from gumblar). Unfortunately the deck is far less consistent then any other hand loop, and is super weak to disruption. not a fan of the kaiju point with mana though. in theory mana is supposed to only be important to sub-optimal turn 1 boards, moulinglacia and gumblar is ideal. going 2nd mana is used to protect your combo pieces while you try to establish 8k damage from things like ghost ogre, impermanence, and what not. Loved the video though, in the end the archetype lives and dies by its field spell and unless we get abilities like in duel links to start with the field spell i dont expect he deck to do anything. I did a lot of work on this deck and produced 6 card hand loops, extra links or both with trigate on 3... And then firewall got banned. I can still put out 6 card (which actually rose to eight with the new neo space connector) so it's not bad. All need is palace plus extender or palace plus warrior. All his comments about lack of consistency and lords being a brick (when you only play one) is wrong as a long time player of them. They can make and break boards fairly easily but the problem is the field spell reliance. I personally would put them on the same level as abc now that they have suffered the hits on both mali and fire wall.

As Dzeff said the deck is too costly and pulled in too many different directions. My dream support: Dawn of the elemental lords Normal spell Send 2 element saber monsters of different attributes from your deck to the gy, monster that share the same original name of those monster cannot activate their effects or attack for the rest of the turn; add 1 "elemental lord" card from you deck or gy to your hand, also you can conduct your battle phase this turn ignoring the activated effects of other "elemental lord" cards except "dawn of the elemental lords" but you can only attack with "elemental lord" or "element saber" monsters this turn. You many only use 1 "dawn of the elemental lords" each turn. Konami please!

I tried them, the main problem they have is a big lack of power and complete reliance on their continuous/field spell and traps. Also they're utterly slow, it's impossible to avoid EOM procedure while playing them. However I found that they have a surprisely good matchup against Altergeists, which are all about elimination by effects, and will have a hard time outressourcing Krawlers.

Hell, to add to how much the elemental lords have been power creeped, of the cards that they're mimicking, actual zero of them are still banned. Most of them are at least semi-limited, but Sangan is unlimited. Some of them are still banned in the OCG, FWIW.

Not the first, but second maybe. Just abuse the field spell and maybe elemental training continous trap card to get pretty much 5 or so elementsabers in your GY. This guys pretty much inconsistent without the elemental palace.

Right now it is midnight and I have a test tomorrow but I stayed up and learnt how to do a basic lightsaber spin and an infinite basic lightsaber spin also I thought elementsabers were OK because at least in duel links there is a field spell that combos well.

I accept the deck isnt very good but ill still play it. Ive always chosen my decks more on if i like the idea of how they work and if i like the card art. But im also never gonna go for much more than my locals short of a wild hair i het once in awhile. But like the video. I cant argue your points. Some time ago you said that nobody would play the gods even with their anime effects however, I think you sort of missed one of their more obscure powers which would make them staples in several decks if they had it in the game. Mind you, this wouldn't have anything to do with them being strong cards at all, but the anime gods had the power to be drawn whenever the duelist wanted them to be drawn. This effect in the card game would of course turn the gods into 9 copies of upstart without the lifepoint drawback. I think we can both agree that the gods would become 3-of staples in several degenerate decks and would see constant competitive success if they had that particular effect. tldr; You still don't understand the true extent of ra's abilities.

No. Just, no. A monster that requires 3 tributtes to be NORMAL summoned AND can be kaiju'd will never, ever be good unless it had an effect to win you the match when summoned.

In the manga/anime they were good for 3 reasons: -Shadow games inflicting REAL damage to the players, so when the gods attacked it was an insta-kill to the player unless you weilded a millenium item -Atem cheating using the millenium puzzle to topdeck Slifer/Obelisk/Ra when he needed them -The manga/anime card pool being really small and limited at the time the gods were relevant, no one had their decks prepared with counters against the gods because nobody knew about them, in the last duel of the series (Yugi VS Atem) Yugi IS prepared to face the gods and succesfully counters them because surprise, he knew about the gods and thus prepared effective counters against them.

My entire point is that 9 cards that you're *garunteed to not draw* effectively turns your deck into a 31 card deck, something which alot of decks would benefit from. There is a reason why upstart is limited. And it's even better than a 31 card deck, you won't deck out as easily even though you're effectively only playing 31 cards and if by any chance a god would be benefitial to summon then you can do so.

I was appeared at locals, and I forgot my deck. So one dude lent me his Elementsabers. I didin't know ANYTHING about the deck. I managed to go x-1 and took second place. The deck is okay. Is it meta? Can it compete with meta? FUCK NO. But you can win sme games with it, if you open Palace every single time. As I pretty much did. It was a fun weekend :D

I did not know this. Doesn't really change my point though. With more support, Elementsabers could be significantly better, regardless of whether or not another deck did better with less. Or maybe it's just that the support Elementsabers did receive wasn't the right kind of support. I dunno, I'm just a casual. (Though I do completely agree on the Battle Phase skipping on a Battle Phase reliant archetype. That was kinda silly)
