I've rewatched the clip of Eli (Daddy) Tomac riding the Millville whoops tapped in like 4th on his Factory 450 many times and I've seen him ride in person, and I can attest to the fact that you can hear Eli coming well before you can see him. Dude's a legend.

i glad he emphasized the transmission tuning so much. theres to many moto cross influencers zooming in on the factory race bikes and talking about sprocket sizes every week. when in reality its 100% useless information because we have no idea about what's going on inside the transmission in terms of ratios or even how many gears they are running. Theres a good chance especially based on what Eli is saying here that they are only running 3-4 gears in supercross and shedding the rest out to save weight , reduce inertia , and maybe widen the gears for increased strength.

Tim ferrys yz450 was a 3 speed..the 4th gear was a plastic gear as a place holder

It’s awesome to hear him speak when it’s sooo obvious that he’s being honest. Great seeing him be himself in an off the track no pressure conversation. I’ve seen that video a few times. Did you see A Rays take on that video?🤣

Been a huge fan of ET3 since the beginning! But these last videos you have done make me like him even more! I have had the wonderful fortune to have met almost every one of my motocross heroes from the 60s on & have yet to meet Eli!

As a former pro AMA SX/MX racer who DIDN’T have the benefit and/or opportunity for the same trick parts such as transmissions etc. I completely understand what Eli’s explaining here. Even on a 450 there’s still a lot of shifting going on so to be able to do a lot less of that and have a bike that pulls longer would be amazing! Also much easier to ride and carry speed. Regardless, Tomac is a badass on a dirt bike!

If the stock 450’s 4strokes are too slow then reintroduce the 500cc big bore TWO-STROKES back into AMA RACING 😎💪

May not look like it, but underneath Eli looks like Chase and has more physical strength and power. This is a genetic thing and not something you necessarily earn. Absolutely something you have to "keep" in terms of work ethics

I don't think it was too long ago, you were talking about 450's as being TOO powerful and fast, especially for supercross and for amateur riders. The talk was 350's as being the answer, and you were in agreement that the 450 class just has too much power for it's own good.

Eli is the exception. A real fuckin treasure.

This is why 4ts should never been the race bike for MX and SX, 2strokes need different skills to master it wasn't just about power, even though factory bikes also weren't close to stock bikes, the power curve was tailored to the rider most of the time! Even RC said recently his 03 bike engine package him and Fonsecca couldn't handle it, they went back to the 02 bike engine package! Eli and others have skills, but its different skills, 2strokes required a very unique skillset and I am sure he would have been every bit as good in the 2stroke era, but we wouldn't have the twist flip era of riding! This is why Stewart imo was better in his 2stroke era rather than 4t era, where the bikes allowed others to close the gap to him, maybe good for the series, but not for him, cream should always rise it shouldn't be artificial which is what 4ts did, it made others better than than were, it the same with tracks they are all designed for blip the throttle jump triples 80feet, everyone's doing it first lap of practice, 2stroke days only the best could do that and not first lap and it became harder throughout the race to achieve that esp in SX. We dumb down whoops, we dumb down jumps in MX, like the one that ended up taking out Jett. We have stupid starts with grates and paddle tires, so no one can gap each other before the corner, which causes a perfect storm and track designers still cant get that right, all this tech and e bikes will only add to that problem if they are stupid enough to usher that in! Loved to have seen Eli on a 500 outdoors and a 250 2t indoors, the top riders would still dominate, but it would show their true skills even more as it should, technology is great when it docent interfere with natural evolution! Again the e-bike as an example, it applauded no clutch, no gears, that's a fundamental skill of riding a bike! its the same reason we have more idiots daily driving on roads all the safety all the tech and we have more idiots and more deaths and more accidents than ever on our roads! What I see daily doesn't ad up to the stats that are manipulated and its the same on the track, the average weekend warrior has never been so bad on a track today as ever before! Again the snowflakes will get butt hurt about that but its just fact not hate, 4ts have a place, e bikes should commute in cities where cars should be parked in hubs, light rail and clear cycle ways. But the power issue is proof of where we are today, yet a 20year old 500cc bike will tame the bets of them! as would a well setup tuned 2stroke especially when you race it for 20 plus laps or 2 30 plus minute motos! it wont ever happen other than world vts but that again proves my point and its great racing and fun! Maybe when Eli retires, we might get to see him race that and other 2 stroke events, Id watch that.🤘

So he complains theyre too slow, madman, and then that other dude, dont mean to disrespect he used to be a great rider but I forgot his name, comes to the pod and says the 450s are way too fast. Im confused😂
