The worst when it comes to behaviour towards their environment/surroundings like people, restaurant or pub stuff (chairs, tables) are actually the english and turkish. Like mentioned in this video, there's a certain amount of arrogance, ignorance and disrespect in their behaviour. I think as a host, especially for the people, Germany did a great job, excluding Deutsche Bahn of course. @@revol148 no, but I don’t expect them to overinflate England’s chances of winning and then be overly critical of the players and manager when they don’t live up to those absurdly high expectations. If you take a look at media in other countries they actually downplay their country’s chances while praising other teams (example is L’Equipe in France). Part of the reason why England has got so much hate over the years is because our media is broadcast to the world in how I described. Other countries see that and then take it out on our fans.

German here. I think most England fans are ok (and better than many of the Serbian, Croatian, Albanian, or Turkish supporters). But some small things ruin it all. The bombers song is madness. British bombers destroyed most german cities and killed half a million civilians - deliberately, not by accident. And then there's the arrogance. You play anti-football, haven't won anything for almost 60 years, and yet you think you're the big favourites.

To be fair the bombers song is just a bit of banter, more importantly its not about glorifying British bombing of German cities, its about shooting down German bombers who tried to bomb our cities. Subtle but important difference. Still, I agree its not good but don't take it too literally. And you misunderstand British psyche altogether if you think its all about arrogance. Most English fans know of and acknowledge our limitations. But this England team has huge potential but have played pants. Will probably lose tomorrow but hey, they have done well overall.

Beckham Rooney Sterling Henderson Saka Southgate all got it from English press and your shittier fans and I grew to like them all and hope they succeed which means at times I'm hoping they score or win. My younger self would be surprised. As a Scot I have similar feelings towards Southgate and the England team. I feel sorry for them a lot because, for a start, there's no doubt there's a section of England fans that are downright nasty (abusing their own black players, for example) and it must be difficult to play for them, even if they are a minority. But, more than that, I feel sorry for the managers of England for the position they get put in. Either they win or they get slaughtered. The media thrive on either talking up or talking down and there are headlines with increasing regularity from months before which builds things up to ridiculous levels. ''Can we win? Who should we pick?'' That goes on for months and then every result is either a triumph or disaster. The saviour the media demand changes on a weekly basis at the drop of a hat. It's all so much hyperbole and media-driven - like being chained to someone bipolar. And yet I remind myself that none of this is the fault of Southgate or the players. Southgate actually seems to do well in attempting to neutralise the natural inclination of the media towards jingoism. I like the guy, truth be told. Is he a great manager? Probably not. He's good with the media (and that's not to be underestimated because the media can ruin England managers and England teams), he more or less picks the players I would, but he's a bit passive in games sometimes. So he has his pluses and minuses, just like anyone else. And the current crop of players are more likeable than their predecessors and all very good players. I just wish a section of the English fans would stop being so fickle about their team, get a sense of perspective, maybe watch some football from outside England now and then, stop treating international football as an excuse to behave like morons, and try going with the ''quietly confident'' attitude rather than a load of bravado and trying to talk down other teams or living with schadenfreude. You have a good side (sometimes). You don't need to antagonise everyone. All in all, I wouldn't grudge them winning either. They are a big footballing country, they're probably due one ('66 is a long time ago) and they have good players. I can't help but feel that a section of their media and a section of their fans act like an anchor towards the team's performances at times. It'd be so much easier going low-key but that's beyond those types.
@JamesMc20515 ай бұрын
By the way, we Scots have our own scummy football fans too. They just tend (historically - not sure about in Germany most recently) to follow our club sides more so than the national team. That Scottish guy saying how much he f@#king hates England and all English 😂 Here's the difference, England fans might make jokes about the Scottish, but the hatred of some Scottish fans is beyond weird and even psychotic. I understand we have a historical rivalry and that England has a history of hooliganism, but that's mostly a thing of the past. I read mental Scottish comments on almost every England football page/video. They seem to care more about us loosing than themselves winning. I've met many Scottish in my life and have always got on with them and had a good laugh. Same with Germans.

yes , the SNP spout the nationalist bile which divided Britain ....it's how the SNP get elected up north. Hate the Westminster English ...win votes.

It's cos there's more chance of us losing than them winning. Two own goals in the whole group stage, is the sum of Scotland's contribution to the Euros.

@@Parker_Douglas Must be why Scottish losers fly the opposition to England's flags.

We was in a pub and the german locals started singing the german bomber song. Same thing happened 2006, they were great and paid for our drinks after we lost to Portugal.

That's how it should be! I'm not sure how to feel about the bomber song but after a few beers, I'd joined in too, I guess. 😄 It's not fair to single out English fans. I've seen some fans disrespect us as hosts, I've seen bad behaviour but the vast majority had a good, peaceful time together. That's what football should do and people should stop complaining so much. Especially my fellow Germans. 😂

0:12 Urban Germany, yes. Parts of Cologne are bloody grim and literally stink of piss. Rural Germany is unbelievably stunning, though!

Parts of every major city's have rough parts...it's city life... and parts are dangerous. I live outside dublin and dublin has got rougher over the past few years especially with migrant gangs roaming the city..

Went to the England-Serbia game with two english friends as a german. The two of them represent the country in a very good way - have handled the oponent and the germans with respect, were very polite and had a hell of fun on their weekend in NRW - but I guess in the eyes of the public they are "only good exceptions".

A while back I was going to see Scotland in Georgia and had a night in Riga. England were playing in Moscow so a good number of them were in Riga too. They were great and a really good laugh!

I'm on holiday in the south of Spain. The euros have created a great buzz, except for Engerland fans. Even my English wife tries to avoid them. Why does an otherwise polite, courteous nation of queue loving, rule obaying, bureaucrats get so aggressive every time a round ball is being chassed? Egg chasers are nice. Small balls with tenis rackets = good behavior. Big ball being kicked = chaos. Its almost like their old colonial mentality is suddenly set free when the ref blows the whistle. Some say its booze culture, but look at other fans like Ireland and Scotland who become more charming as they drink cities dry.
