Amazing breakdown as always! Who do you, in your opinion, can do that Jackson role better than him? I frankly don't see anyone doing that role batter than him I feel like he just needs time to capitalize on his chances.

Thank you so much! I agree with you, he has the skill set to do the role but he’s just a bit raw. Good with his hold up play but needs more time to refine the other areas of his game, with that time I’m sure he will enhance those skill sets and become the player he’s promising. Aside from him, I think someone like Gyokeres has the hold up play, skill and vision to bring others into play, he’s a bit further down the line in comparison to Jackson but that’s understandable considering the age gap. But honestly Jackson has such promise that with time I’m sure he will flourish even further under Maresca at Chelsea. I saw it when Palmer did that marvelous turn in midfield. Jackson was running free through the middle and Neto through the left, Unfortunately he decided to pick out Neto who wasn't dangerous coming from the left. If he had picked out Jackson and Jackson scored, it would have been the moment of highest quality in the game. I hope they watch the video over and over again to see how they can improve. I can already see that they have the keys to really open up Arsenal. Then they must do more and more of it. I was really shocked with how easy Chelsea could have had it there.

Palmer has to play on right side. Last seasons stats and performances say so.. but Maresca loves 2 out and out wingers. Expect more games where Cole is not as effective, thru the middle he’s easier to mark and crowd out. Neto goal was what Cole was doing last season, RW moving inside finding space between the lines. Cole will play well because he is so talented but he won’t get any way near last seasons goals and assists

If Palmer plays on the right, there could well be a defensive imbalance, one really good thing about Madueke is often times the amount of defensive work he gets through. I also think Palmer will struggle a little more because naturally he is a marked man, teams are aware of him and clearly are trying to stop him, this would happen regardless of position and unfortunately it's something Cole is going to need to adapt to, but considering his immense quality I firmly believe he will. Great analysis. For me personally, I would like Palmer in that right half space occupied by Gusto, Gusto wide replacing Madueke and Nkunku in the left half space where palmer is in the video. Gets both Chrsito and Cole in the same team and if Palmer arrives in the positions Gusto does, then I back him to be more clinical

You don't know what you are talking about if you say Gusto should replace Noni on the wing. You basically take away his strong points and make him play with his weakness by playing him on the wing.

I’m not saying he should be a “winger” he’ll still be a right back but he’ll occupy those wide high spaces. That’s where we get his best performances. I like your idea and in theory it could be really good, one word on that though would be around the notion of space; Gusto has that space I feel because a lot of the attention and pressure is on Palmer (understandably) so the same would happen I reckon if he flipped and went onto the right, we saw this on occasion in the Man Utd game. @ the he we need the right back to overlap and Maresca doesn’t have traditional full backs in his system. If we invert Reece into midfield, Lavia moves over to the left side of the pitch and Caicedo pushes into the left half space Cole can play in his preferred area of the pitch

Colwill is class and I thought Fofana looked better than usual. Definitely agree Chelsea need a GK (I like Lille’s Chevalier) but Jackson is genuinely one of the best strikers out there

Thanks a lot! So I think the CB's might need some time to adapt to the system but as for the goalkeeper, yeah.. Sanchez is alright but to take that build up to the next level I think they need to look elsewhere and as for Jackson, I think his improvement has been really impressive so it wouldn't surprise me if they stuck with him, but a top striker who is natural at the things I mentioned would propel this side much faster. Gusto helps platform everyone better. I just wish he had the qualities Reece has when going forward. James would be perfect, but running up and down will lead to another injury. I just hope Gusto improves in that role.

If the one receiving the pass with his back to goal was Palmer I think it would work better than Jackson until the can find a better suited player for this role. Neto needs to be on the right

Bro..I am sorry, great video, but that was a bit dull and felt more like a recap. I think we need 2 natural 10s. Palmer right 10 on his strong left foot (that's his bets position) -- Neto as the RW (Madueke on the bench) -- and Joao / Nkunku left 10 but as (inverted) LW. Cucu overlaps to create width. The reason Enzo is not doing that is because he prefers Colwill as the middle CB in the back three, not as a LCB and he's right because of Colwill passing and Fofana drive upfield. But we need more creativity upfront. And Enzo can play in the middle instead of Lavia for those line breaking passing as a deep line playmaker, not Colwill. All good bro, don't worry. I like what you're suggesting but as you say there are reasons that Maresca isn't doing that and I feel quite a bit of that is around Enzo and his place in the side. He is opting much more for that secure double pivot of Caicedo-Lavia, at the moment Enzo is struggling to break up that partnership. I would really like to see it given a go though because as you say it could make Chelsea more potent but similarly might also make them a bit more defensively fragile. The ability to maintain pressure high through Caicedo and Lavia often goes unnoticed. Could be really interesting though. Thanks for watching mate!

I think the cb selection also didnt favour maresca to play palmer at rhs as only fofana and colwill are trusted. With another good cb while fofana at rb and veiga the one inverting,palmer can occupy the rhs and veiga on the lhs

Here's why no one is talking about it: the stats dont catch it. When you analyze the game and the movements, as youve done, you cant see a bit of inconsistency with finding players in the right lane on the right foot. Those small corrections come in time, and will cause a lot of these types of tactical shifts to result in real chances. You are spot on, if this team spends another season together with roughly the same complexion, they should be right near the top of the EPL and Europe again.

The Madueke situation is very interesting, he is struggling I feel without Palmer, that link was really helping him but I agree with you the end product needs to be better. Unfortunately I don't know whether Reece James has the ability to play that marauding role any more, he is too injury prone so something a bit more reserved might be better. I think if James is fit to run up and down, chelsea can be extremely potent. James provides width, due to threat from crosses rather than threat from dribbles in the case of madueke. This drags the lb and allows palmer in the right sided 10. Nkunku can take up the left sided 10 role, with neto providing both crossing and dribbling threat. If madueke was complete like neto id prefer the palmer gusto madueke trio, however madueke isn't complete and the palmer, nkunku and james trio is more daunting. Gusto, even if he has the legs to bomb up and down the flank, he doesnt provide any threat, which allows the lb to join the lcm to double team palmer. James is the only one who can make this work imo Whay do you think man ??

We will not be good until we get a good goalkeeper and RCB. A striker as well for that matter. The recruitment for the most part has been a fucking shambles. 1 billion spent and we only have Palmer, Neto, Gusto and Caicedo to show for it.

I think it will take time, Fofana is still recovering from injury but there are some promising signs with others, Caicedo has been one of the best CDM’s in the league this season and Lavia is proving a good partnership. Goalkeeper is a definite issue that I would highlight, which sounds crazy considering the amount of keepers available which also highlights the issue you mentioned.
