@RPBasilio

@@branchandfoundry560 Agreed 1000%. I had every intention of dovetailing the stringers until I accidentally cut them short by .25” each. 🙄🙄. That was enough to make the tails way too small for stability. It was one of those moments where you just stop and stare at your mistake for like 10 minutes. I could have remade them but I would have had to use stock I was saving for the drawer fronts. It was a hard lesson learned. One of many on this build!!

@RPBasilio

@@GrizzCraftCustoms Haha - great observation! My RC saw will always be my absolute favorite. The ONLY reason it’s not my go-to right now is that it needs to be sharpened. I haven’t learned how to do this properly yet, so I’m currently using the Veritas saw. This saw is nice but it’s a much more aggressive cut, which I’m not crazy about. One day I’ll learn to sharpen hand saws and get the RC back in the game. 👊👊

Nice work as always, Rick. Do you do anything after the dovetails come together to fill in any slight imperfections? I know a lot of people that use PVA glue and sawdust, but wasn't sure how finish would look using that method
@RPBasilio
@RPBasilio Ай бұрын
Typically I do. I have yet to do dovetails where they all come out perfect. I have a feeling I will be chasing this for a very long time. When I fix gaps, I go with the old stand-by approach of wood glue and sawdust. However, for darker woods, hide glue works even better. Thankfully it’s small enough where the finish is not impacted
