Racing on dirt is a completely different ball game. A well known UK horse trainer(sorry cant remember who), with an impressive record around Southwell (at the time similar surface to USA tracks) said " some horses act on it & others hardly lift a leg ". If they go on it " The trip is pretty irrelevant, they just keep going ". If they don't go on it, then " You are wasting your time ".

its easier to run on grass. Dirt is hard to run on and you get more kick back.

The Owners should never have flown this great champion to America. The changes and barriers that are set here in the U. S. are too extreme to overcome in 30 days since last race in Europe. Ship these American horses to Europe and City of Troy would win. To say he “flopped” is disgusting and disrespectful!

What did you want them to call it? He failed to mount a performance worth noting. A flop is accurate. He’s a nice grass horse but just like his damsire the dirt was too much to overcome

@@SukramYasdnil Just relax friend! I just explained what I would call it. And certainly my opinion is grounded in realistic barriers that to me are self evident. Galileo was caught down on the inside at Belmont, and was trapped. Now that’s not an excuse, but fact. I choose unfortunate but if you disagree, that’s your business.

The American trainers KNOW BETTER than to send their best dirt horses to Europe to race on turf, for the FIRST TIME, against Europe's best turf horses. It's NOT rocket science. It's called "common sense". City of Troy didn't "flop". O'Brien is the one who FLOPPED, by allowing his superiority complex to cloud his judgment. Einstein stated that the definition of INSANITY is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

I Knew Without A Doubt And Said It Weeks Before The Classic City Of Troy By Justify Whom Only Bred Turf Champions, And Judging By All His Offsprings, Had Justify As A Four Year Old To Five Year Old Chances Are He Would’ve Won More Turf Than Dirt, A Horse That Only Races At 2 & 3 Then Retired Isn’t A Great Measuring Stick, Secretariat Was Also A Turfer Whom Dominate The Dirt, I Had City Of Troy Last, He Was Lucky To Ran Second To Last,,,,🏰🇺🇸🇯🇲 Mr. KeenObserVatioN PhD,🇯🇲🇺🇸🏰

To All Young Owners Don’t Ever Give Away A Huge Pay Day For Only Fame, Todd Pletcher Ran His Miler A Certain $ M Winner At A Mile After Failing Badly In Dubai Then Took The Classic Route Instead Of A Certain Victory For His Horse Went In The Classic And Boomed, The Breeders Cup Turf Would’ve Been A Walk In The Park For City Of Troy But His Owners Seeking Fame Over Dollars,And The Both Pay Dearly And Stupidly,,,,🏰🇺🇸🇯🇲 Mr. KeenObserVatioN PhD,🇯🇲🇺🇸🏰

This is just ridiculous. 1st obrien is great trainer. C.o.t. very good horse on turf. The only horses obrien did good on dirt were bred top and bottom 4 dirt. C.o.t only bred on top 4 dirt bottom all grass. Stop the wineing and believing all the hype . C.ot. great horse just not on dirt. Yr mistake to bet him. Some hope obriens 2yr old who won fridays last b.c.race on turf . Wouldnt be suprised to see him in k.d. next year. H.m
