I am certainly not a professional photographer, but I recently picked up a Zf to check it out. I have used mostly sony and fujifilm until now and am blown away at how much I enjoy the camera and the images that I get from it. I only have one Nikon lens so far, but am using the megadap adapter to utilize sony lenses and it works pretty well(again, maybe not professsionally, but for me it works great). I really like having that flexibility between the 2 systems. Long story short, I think you are on point. Nikon is making some really good moves.

I think it’s absolutely brilliant that you’ve made the switch to Nikon. I used to feel a bit like an outsider whenever I used Nikon, even though I switched years ago, purely for photography. The colors, the dynamic range, and the overall feel of the images that came straight out of the camera always appealed to me so much more. Over time, I’ve evolved into multimedia as well, and I noticed exactly what you’re saying-that Nikon has caught up in many areas, such as the autofocus system, which works brilliantly in the newer cameras. Autofocus was perhaps a minor weakness in the past, but now it’s outstanding. I absolutely love it because I’m a big fan of Nikon-the lenses are fantastic. And when you look at third-party options like the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, which is built using Nikon’s patent, you can see how incredible the current lineup of lenses is. I’m really excited to see what’s next and super happy that I can stick with Nikon, as I’ve always loved the cameras for their handling and build quality. Thanks for your objective reporting!

I’ve been with Nikon since the 90’s from film to digital and now mirrorless. Been there when they were on top, when they were lagging behind, and now with some fantastic gear. These companies all seem to leapfrog one another and they’ve all gone up in quality. Current I have the Z9 and Z6III and switched all my F mount lenses to Z mounts, but honestly I tell anyone who’s looking into cameras today to go to your local camera stores or places like Best Buy and check out all the cameras. See which one fills your needs and feels best in your hands, who has a menu system and button layout you like and most of all, what you can afford. All the top companies make great cameras nowadays and like you said in your video, some are better at pics whiles others are better at video and a few do both very well. It’s a great time for photography and video creators. Excellent video!

I think with Nikon acquiring Red and Panasonic getting Arri to tune Arri LogC3 for their newest camera, there are a lot more interesting options in the market. Rumors of DJI developing a FF camera (maybe L-mount?) could also be disruptive. But if I was to switch from m43 to FF, right now it would be Nikon. "When you combine the two together [photo & video] no one is touching the Z6 III" How about the Canon R5 II? (higher megapixels & price point though)
@FlamamacueАй бұрын
The Z8/9 and now Z6iii are soooo good and it feels like they're just getting started. Now they just need to add the LUTs or any custom LUT capability to replace the god awful view assist feature. Probably the worst thing about the Z8 etc

Canon & Sony beating them in Autofocus for this long really hurt them. Glad they’re catching up.

Any one who can guide me comparing fuji(X-S20 and X-H2s) and any Nikon ? I tried Sony, not a fan of a digital look there, Panasonic s5llx felt amazing but too saturated, canon always have that warm overall tint and tone, the colour separation and skin tones of fuji I could only compare to black magic, but I don’t have much experience with Nikon, can anyone help?

Nikon is making grt hybrid bodies but nikon lacks hybrid lenses. A good ecosystem is needed for someone to really get into a brand. DearNikon pls make high quality 1.4 S line primes with a optimum balance of quality, charecter, weight n price affordability of set of highquality primes n ease of using them on field is imp for hybrid shooters especially event shooters .

Me: Canon to Nikon.. Still on Nikon Build, Menus, Usability.

Been a Nikon shooter for 14 years and I'll be honest, they're actually slacking. Not allowing third party lens manufacturers to make lenses for their FF Z cameras is ridiculous. Also, they're not very creator friendly. They don't really listen to their users. They're so far behind. I'm looking to switch to Sony but I'll still keep my Z8. Nobody can beat Nikon at their UI but they need to get with the times. They're still so behind especially in video.

Nikon is in your blood, bro.

The biggest issue with Nikon is that they have offshored the production to China and Thailand. When I'm paying thousands of dollars for a lens or a body, I do expect them to be made domestically in Japan. Canon makes all their high end bodies and lenses in Japan. Sony is like Nikon, only thinking about profits.
@jorgepinogarciadelasbayonasАй бұрын
This is a non issue. All Apple premium products are also made in China by Foxconn. It doesn't matter where the factory is located if you apply the same quality control standards for your company. The chips are actually coming from Taiwan at TSMC. That's how the modern world works. Only if you are very oldschool thinking this may be an issue in your head.

Purchased the Z8 and the old Nikon Z rec 709 was not as good at this current one. I'm exited to see how they will add on to what they currently have and even build Nikon Cine Cam I'd sell my FX 30 so quick LOL

Haha I didn’t want to say it in the video but that was my thoughts exactly. A Nikon fx3 or fx30… that’s the dream

I used Nikon for over 20 years, and a year or so ago sold my Z7, Z6, and a bunch of lenses, and downsized to Fuji. My formerly bursting at the seams camera bag has lots of free space, and it’s lighter to carry. I thought I might sacrifice some image quality in this switch but haven’t noticed that. The Fuji (X-H2) can be a little quirky but overall is more fun to use (it’s hard to put a finger on “why”, but it is). 🤷♂️

Im nikon shooter from past 9yrs but i feel jelous of Sony users. Becase of they have grt 1.4 lenses and amazing 3rd party support from zeiss n sigma. that means light weight yet pro glass and able to afford all the set of primes. Its not about jst the body always

Yes! I made a video about that combo. It’s really surprising how good the image quality is from that small lens. It’s what’s made me mention the part in this video about the z-lenes

Unfortunately only professional photographers and people with too much money are the ones who can provide attention to Nikon...They have ignored the beginners and amateurs! z50? a 5 year old camera is all you have for them? This is why Canon is always killing Nikon!

LUMIX s5ii and s5iix is way better than the z6iii and they both have better dynamic range and they cheaper. They are the true hybrid kings cameras
@Jeka852 ай бұрын
DR is pretty much the same but RS is worse on S5 II and autofocus is much worse. Stills are way better on Nikon.

You left out one key feature, with their purcgase of Red, Nikon can also now loegally pursue anyone trying to create variations of internal raw compression...just like red did.
