Did you know that close to 10% of the US population lives in only ten cities? However, despite this these cities' land areas only make up a small portion of the total occupied land area in the U.S? That’s right, of the US’s over 333 million people, about 25 million of them live in just a small handful of cities. So what are these cities? And how did they get to be so popular and crowded?
Well, today on Across the Globe we’re going to be looking at Why Everybody Lives in these 10 OVERCROWDED U.S Cities.

New York and San Francisco are the most overcrowded in terms of square density

I'm surprised it didn't make the list, given how small a area in terms square miles, and nearly a million residents, not to mention a large homeless population

@@williamharmon3076 San Francisco itself doesn’t have over a million people, it has a high density yes, but it’s not that big. As for New York, Manhattan has a high density because it’s a small island, not the the rest of the city. There’s a difference between high density and high population as a whole.

@@tjr4459I believe the topic was us cities with too many people, as a native San Franciscan born and raised i think San Francisco would qualify as a over populated city, for the size or square mileage, and I also reviewed my previous comment and never did I say San Francisco has over a million people, but authorities have admitted that at any given time San Francisco can easily have a million people within the city given San Francisco is a city and county by itself, also authorities have acknowledged that we gradually reaching that threshold, as far as high density vs population both could be considered valid but as to the topic of this video I'll stick to my original statement San Francisco has too many people for a city this size.

No, Florida is not a cheap place and Texas has high property taxes.

In October, Texas voters overwhelmingly approved a bill to greatly increase the homestead exemption and it literally went into effect the next month when property tax bills were mailed out. I was shocked how much mine went down. I can't even complain about it anymore and am glad my vote counted.

May not be cheap compared to where ever YOU are from BUT I've done a great deal of research ,being a Realtor in California. And nearly every state has higher property tax % than us BUT MANY have no state income tax or at least don't tax Soc.Sec to have much lower gas prices, car insurance rates, home insurance rates , dining out is cheaper, utilities are cheaper, similar produce prices, even Texas as much as its cost of living has increased and higher prop taxes is STILL LESS EXPENSIVE.

This video is made off Wikipedia and not actual research . You cannot do a video like this strictly on city population. Jacksonville Florida is probably only the 5th largest metro area- in Florida. It’s nowhere near top 10 in the USA. For example Washington DC only has 700k residents in city. But the DC metro area is over 6.5 million people- like 5 times Jacksonville metro population. Jacksonville for example only has one million because it incorporated an entire County into its city limits. The entire Duval county is considered city of Jacksonville. This is actually a very spread out city and not dense at all. Dallas has almost 6-7 times the population of Metro San Antonio. You cannot go simply by city limits. San Antonio has basically no suburbs as 80% the metro population is San Antonio proper

Jacksonville, with an estimated population of just over a million in a land area of 874 square miles, for a population density of 1274 per square mile, is hardly crowded by any stretch of the imagination. Respectfully, you guys need to do more research before posting videos of this type.

If the video is about overcrowded cities or “density”, why are we going by total population? How is Boston at 16k ppl per square mile not more overcrowded than freakin Jacksonville with a few homes per block?

The worst consequence of the growth of these big cities is they spill over into rural towns and counties while bringing crime, congestion amd increased taxes due to infrastructure and schools. They destroy peoples way of life along with their peace and quiet. Dallas/Ft Worth sprawl is unreal and it's almost to the point that it's so densely populated it will soon reach the Oklahoma border.
