They resent her sharing her mental health struggles and how she found healing in her faith - people effectively say, "she had so much success and big sponsorships, what happened that she had to heal herself if she was so fortunate already?" People don't like to hear about struggles from people they envy, period! There's a huge misconception about mental health, too, where people seem to believe it must be "justified" by some sort of tragic event someone experienced. For similar examples, see the reaction from many in the public to initial reporting of the mental health struggles of Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles. It really is an intertwining of envy and unrealistic expectations many folks have towards famous, succesful stars in athletics and other fields, too. (**Although i think people in creative fields, like actors or musicians, get more leeway because they're already seen as "different," "eccentric," "difficult" etc.)

Its unfair ro say only one of ther person competes in this event. This event has always been competitive until 2 generational athletes arrived in the same era which is rare. Its like having two Bolts in the same era, that doesnt make the event under developed. Fact is most Track and Field athletes are unlikable and I suspect most prefer it that way. Its a thin line between boastful and confident, the difference is how the public perceives you. Thomas Greene and Donovan Bailey came off as boastful, Bolt did the same but the public loved it, some come off as goofy. So most athletes just act aloof, do their thing and go home.
@duncanharvey22094 ай бұрын
Well i don't "hate" any athletes i don't personally know but it's really easy to describe why people don't support her beyond being fascinated by her ability. 1. She barely races. Can't get behind someone that doesn't race 2. I get it being a personality thing but no-one likes an athlete winning and barely even smiling let alone being elated. Watching her win is not exciting. 3. She should be the pin up of track but her personality just doesn't allow the public "in".

I don't think everyone hates her. It seems like people are underestimating her because she doesn't compete as often. However, she is a strong competitor when she's on the track and pushes herself in races, no matter the event. In my opinion, she is a highly respected athlete with a composed demeanor and a positive attitude.

I think the most glaring thing about Syd is she never runs. As a long time fan of the sport she just doesn’t do it for me. As what seemed to be a great story, is turning into a I do this when I want to. Real disingenuous, and silly. I’m not a huge fan of hers anymore. And she really hasn’t competed against any real competition. Which is why I feel she is running from that open 400. I can’t call you the greatest, if you don’t want the greatest challenge. Just an opinion, love the content bro. Eat em up Kats, once a Kat always a Kat. Ha ha
@jazmar08224 ай бұрын
The fans don't hate her but I wouldn't doubt that other athletes are jealous of her. A pretty light skinned girl get some attention and people start telling themselves that it because of her looks, when it's not the case. This happened to Lolo Jones, but in that case they were correct. It was because of her looks.
