To release India - do not release them until the very end of the event chain. I recommend saving the game before peace to test it out a few times. You can not click "merge into India" release all local states first before India itself is given as an option.

I don't know if this works in the mod you use, but you could free a tiny India, ally them, declare war on Britain (calling India in) and try a Free Allied Cores CB. Iirc that's a V2 thing, not a V3 thing, but I may be wrong.

Was the mod giving you militancy modifiers? You had absolute monarchy, so you could’ve picked liberal party and passed reforms to make them happy. (Also could suppress everyone going for political reform and revoke one, I think that removes some too)

It was indeed! Staying bourbon makes you gain militancy at a comically high rate,,, it doesn't really go away it's just kinda like that :/
