This is what the reign of Napoleon III should be like. Focusing on the welfare of his citizens and transforming France into a modern country with cities becoming metropolises like Paris. And what the citizens ask is why do they need an Emperor? The answer is straightforward: the reason why France became a powerful country because Napoleon was the one who brought France back from its decline to its regrowth of power and prestige. It was Napoleon who brought laws and reforms the French benefited from, and the government structure that Napoleon created led France to become the main center of European geopolitics. This is a great alternate history video, Mr. Sythnist. I really like the outcome of this video for it was very educational but, at the same time entertaining. I would love to see a part two with France thrive under Napoleon IV. Speaking of Napoleon IV, what would be very interesting is that Napoleon IV made France a constitutional monarchy but made France a hybrid government of constitutional monarchy and republicanism and shared power with the liberals, moderates, and conservatives. With Napoleon IV's reign as Emperor of France, France could allow settlements of French citizens from France into their colonies to make them permanent settlements. What do you think of that idea, Mr. Synthist? Any thoughts, comments, and opinions about these ideas?

I must say that I really enjoy this style of video. I do like such games like CK, Vic, EU and to some extent even HoI, but it's always fascinating for me to see how other people play the game. What sort of decisions are they making in comparison to me? Are they more aggressive, less aggressive? Do they roleplay, or are they min-maxing their game? Your style of alternative story telling however is truly unique (at least to me), it's very immersive and believable, since you're using actual historical context in order to tell your story, and I quiet like that a lot! So thank you for the nice video, and I hope you're having a lovely time!

Great video, I wonder would the Bri'ish engage in German-France conflict given the fact French mostly have either minor nations (Spain and Italy compared to Germany is minor IMO) in alliance or the pain-in-ass nations (Polish is literally breakaway of Russia, Ottomans probably still the same sick man). I watched this video and it was very good. You understood Napoleon III well. He is a complex man and he is not a bad leader, nor the best. But the black legend tends to greatly diminish it. The coup d'état (the first) was expected because the Second Republic had no means of resolving a blockage by the president or Parliament. I'm hoping for a sequel because I must admit that a sequel could be very nice. I think, personally, that Napoleon IV could keep his throne, the monarchy is still seen as a normal mode of government in Europe in the 19th century and until the 1st world war, the majority of European countries are monarchies. A ruler, even with little power, is still useful as a symbol.

The main driving force behind french colonisation was a mission what they bestowed upon themselves to civilize the savages, as it simply was called "Mission civilisatrice, or "Mission to Civilize" The sentiment was basically, that France, currently the greatest civilization on Earth according to the french had this duty to spread their civilization to other continents, help the locals to adapt it and integrate them into the french system, so they could abandon their savage ways of life and welcome civilization. They also did it, because the earlier mentioned french demographical collapse put them in a demographic disadvantage with the quickly growing Germany and by integrating the natives in Africa and Asia directly into their system, they hoped to bolster their numbers with these people to make up for their numerical inferiority in Europe. It was in direct contrast with any other colonial sentiment at the time. The british relied on indirect leadership, putting their favoured from the local elite to govern their colonies, so London didn't had to pay that much money on colonial upkeep. The spanish built a complicated colonial caste system with aristocrats of fully blooded spanish descendant on top, improvished, but still white immigrants and people of mixed origin in the middle and everyone else (natives, black slaves, etc...) on the bottom. The germans and the italians saw these lands as a place to banish their excess population and dealt with the natives as inferior human subjects and basically free labour to build up european settler settlements. France on the other hand was the oddity. They built up healthcare, infastructure, social structure, education, etc... France sometimes spent more resources on helping the colonies than their income from those territories. It paid off in the long run, because from every single colony, France was the only colonial nation, what could utilise it's colonial manpower in warfare for the fullest. And when the French Homeland fell in 1940, the french colonial government didn't collapsed immediately, while the british, even without the loss of their Homeland struggled to keep India in line when the japanese set up a counter government. And to extend this, when the Vichy collapsed and Free France was established as the legitimate french government by the allies, they managed to recruit 300.000 people to their military, not counting colonial french population, like the Pied Noir.

This was very cool. I imagine that, in such a liberal and reformed French nation, republicanism would take hold again... at which point everything would go down the drain, as France had historically done very badly under a republican administration. Alternatively, the education reforms you mentioned could mean that the France of this timeline no longer suffers under a brain drain, and had developed a healthy and robust intelligentsia, as well as a smart enough voter, to facilitate a republican shift in administration.

Everything is good, moreover I have difficulty seeing Greater Germany remaining like this, it seems more logical to me that the Emperor establishes a Hungary in the form of a personal Union, already since before this union the Hungarians were quite hostile to the Austrians. I can't see them saying nothing when they have merged with a Germanic population much larger than their own. If the Emperor doesn't make this decision, it's undoubtedly a new Hungarian revolution which will ultimately trigger. And it would not be surprising if Russia supported it to regain its influence over the Slavic Balkans and Galicia Lodomeria , not to mention France and especially Italy, which would always have a view of Dalmatia populated by Italians.
