Seriously I am at like 400-500 blitz and people play better than these bots. Sure they will blunder some tactics very often but they won't just throw away pieces like the bots do.

sometimes i play a 1000+ bot and the game analysis tells me they played like a 500. like that is not what i signed up for???

Times were different when I was young. As a beginner, the only response to e4 was e5. You had to earn the right to play something different, and even then you just got c5 as a choice. (And yes, we walked five miles to school. Uphill. Both ways.)

The bots are way easier than people at those ratings. Im only about a 900 elo and i beat bots up to 1600. Everything under 1500 is easy to beat even for a 900 such as myself

Those accuracies CAN'T be accurate. Those bots are a joke, not even some 500 players sacrifice like that, it's just not how people blunder pieces!

I'm so glad my gambit finally gets recognition. I'm a 2200 and I play Duras. No joke, I have a 55% winrate (35% loss, 10% draw). It's such a good gambit.

As much as people complain about the lower level bots. players ranked 1200 and below blunder pieces a lot. It would be inaccurate to call a bot that never blunders a 1200 rated bot.

They do blunder pieces a lot but not the way the bot did. Everyone blunder pieces even up to 1500. But 1200's wouldn't typically use their knight to capture a pawn that is protected by a pawn for absolutely no reason, that's sub 1000. I coach kids and some of my students are 1000-1200 and they would never blunder the pieces the same way this bot did

I think the bots are programmed to choose the best moves most of the time, and then throw in random blunders accorsing to their rating. Because I'm rated 1100 and I destroy the 1800-2000 bots half of the time bc of ridiculous mistakes

yeah i think so too, the disparity between the level of bots that I can beat and the level of players that I can win against is very large! I wish the elo ratings were a bit more accurate

It's interesting that the Cochrane is still not fully solved; indeed, pretty much all sensible moves are playable for both sides and Black looks at an advantage of a little less than +1. Sure, it's dubious because it gives Black the advantage on move 4, but no pain no gain I'd say. White will have to keep pressure up and Black will look at securing the king, and if either slips up one of these tasks too much the other side will win.

11:11 - why not take with the rook? It doesn't put the queen under immediate attack, but I don't see how the queen could be used immediately. The only check gives away the queen. Could move to the white diagonal to setup a checkmate threat, but then you just take the bishop with the rook and place the black king in check. You could lose your bishop to the king, but would gain their bishop.

19:00 best advice anyone can give. having lost lot of games than could have been easy wins once you start doing this it won't happen again. More pieces means more tactics your opponent can come up with that wins them a game they would have lost.

I'm 1500 I love playing e5, Nc6, f5 against most e4 openings. If I get to Rousseau gambit or the Winawer gambit, either declined, accepted of the counter gambit, I feel very comfortable and confident

9:25 after your queen took the rook, could black have trapped your queen with bishop to b7? And if so, wouldn't getting a rook and bishop (if you got trapped) not quite be worth losing the queen?

If Bb7 then the knight is undefended, and there is no discovery to win the queen. Bd6 was probably the bot's desperate attempt to defend the knight to trap the white queen

I hate the way bots play. They play perfect moves but just completely blunder every once in a while for no reason. Its so annoying. You'd think a site with a massive database of all the moves that people play would be able to make them play more like real people, at least for the openings

The bots are way below their ratings. I could completely wreck Nelson and I got a draw against Catspurrov when I was 600. Those are supposedly 1300 and 1400-rated bots. They should be drawing me once every 40 games and winning the remaining 39.

As far as I can tell all the bots are overrated. I’m a 1300 and I can beat Antonio relatively consistently. I’ve also played Isabel and find that she blundered her queen to a pin (I went on to beat her)

650 elo atm. Maria is easy, and 1300 bot also blunders a lot. But 1400 beats me more than I beat him. The game elo is rarely above 1000 in analysis though
