In this video, I talk about how fashion can be a language that connects people. I share my personal experience of traveling to Paris and making new connections with people simply based on the way I was dressed, which made me realize that I may get different reactions back home in Houston compared to a fashion-forward city like Paris. I discuss the concept of subculture and how it has evolved over time, especially with the rise of social media. I reflect on the authentic connections I used to make as a kid based on shared interests and how that experience inspired this video. The key is to be yourself and enjoy your personal style, regardless of how others perceive it.

authenticity was the perfect word you used. people wear what will earn them cool points, instead of wearing things they truly appreciate. the "ID (insert item)?" type of people who don't curate their style kiilling subculture, culture vultures. i see it daily in in melting pots of society.

Great point fam. I feel like people not being able to curate their own style stems from a deeper issue of not knowing themselves truly. That’s a whole other topic, I may have to make a video on next lol. I think as humans we naturally want to be accepted, so people wear what they feel may allow them to be accepted. For example if (inserts brand) is what everyone else is currently wearing right now, if I wear this I can be accepted. And I won’t even speak down on it. I believe ultimately people want to feel something when they wear clothes, so they associate wearing whatever this said popular brand is at the moment with a feeling they long for. The issue is it just becomes a short moment, and now they’ve moved on to the next brand that’s having their moment currently with still hopes of getting that feeling.
