I really like both perspectives both are important , of course it is important the women's opinion because could gives you a perspective of what kind of fragrance you can wear to attract girls. And on the other side with male reviewers when I want to know his personal experience with the fragrance. At the end I will buy a fragrance because personally I like to smell good, it makes me feel better. Greetings from Panama :)

Omar, I'll give you my opinion as I follow you both. Michella is charming, she does not only rely on her look, she is fun, she is clever in her ways to produce catchy content, and more than that she is herself all the time, she told the world DON'T BE A F*&KING SISSY SPRAYER. Dude! That's hers, all hers, nobody else said that before, that's her signature. It does not matter if female/male reviewer, you need to make yourself a place in the scene. My opinion, as I told you I love you both, but If I have a video of Michella and one yours, I'm sorry my man, but hers goes first.

Gents Scents is one of the very few reviewers who is 100% independent and always gives a 100% honest opinion. Jeremy Fragrance is entertaining and funny, but it's very obvious he has his own agenda, i.e. he pushes certain fragrances and doesn't rate frags that are very highly rated, such as TF Oud Wood by telling us the longevity etc. is poor, when it clearly isn't...!! He is always contradicting himself, when he says he no longer reviews clones or poor performing frags, then tells us about Armaf and Creed Aventus....! I am also very suspicious when reviewers are given free fragrances by say Roja Parfum, where they never give a poor review, as they know they won't be sent any more if they do....! it won't ever happen, but there should be some sort of disclaimer, during the review that the fragrance under review was provided free of charge...!

For me there's a lot of reasons. Just a few: 1. Female reviewers usually have a more emotional and visceral response to scents, at least on camera. A lot of the time you can almost imagine what it smells like from how they react. Male reviewers are typically more subdued and maybe slightly boring. 2. Male fragrance youtubers tend to only focus on male fragrances whereas girls do both. 3. I think generally guys care more about which fragrances are gonna smell good to girls, whereas girls usually are slightly less concerned with what smells good to a guy. Hence why more people gravitate to the opinions of female reviewers.
@jackhayman48532 жыл бұрын
For me it totally depends on why u wear fragrances, for yourself? Or to attract men or women? Further more I personally LOVE when chanels gets friends/strangers (non fragrance enthusiasts) to give their options about a fragrance, as ultimately...99% of people who smell you won't be obsessed like we all are. And if you care about the opinion of the 99% who have an untrained nose...then it's the strangers opinions who matter most. I personally watch everybody equally for different reasons.

1. Getting insight from a female reviewer on what they like can inform you about the appeal of a fragrance more than what male reviewers. 2. Go to the comments of the female reviewers and you will see a plethora of comments like: Omg I love your voice. Omg you are the most beautiful woman on the planet 😍😍😍 *Some would call this simping.*
@Pyroshaq752 жыл бұрын
I think the most basic reason, well is that the viewers are simps. Its not nice but It's a fact. Number 2, probably because alot of guys buy frags to get female attention and a common idea is that "there's no better place to go and get tips about what girls like than from girls themselves". i dont necessarily agree with this but it is what it is. Now I totally agree with what you said in reason 3, many channels tend to make super long and boring frag videos with no B-roll, no jokes and just a hard cam of them sitting at a desk. I feel like ash from gentsents does the best when it come to variety and making his videos feel watchable. Tons of jokes, silly voices, tons of recommendation even in his top 10 videos, and will even do videos in different settings. Also your channel is pretty great when it comes to watchability. Would love to see a part 2/ aftermath video on this topic.
@sainteangelo46622 жыл бұрын
Simp part is true. I rarely watch female reviewers, but I do now and then to sort of get an understanding of the female perspective. But it is definitely true that some people in the comments, usually in female channels, have a sort of parasocial tone to their comments. It’s a bit strange and it’s obvious they want attention from the female reviewer.

If we are talking about male fragrances, I think majority of the viewers who are watching these videos are not necessarily enthusiasts and - either consciously or unconsciously - are more curious about a female perspective as the goal is primarily the scent to be liked by females. It is when someone descends into the deeps of fragrances starts to open up more for male reviewers as fragrances starts to become more like a hobby. The women’s videos...sigh, it just seems like they are telling me what’s popular or what they like, they are motivated by followers. Fine, not my motive. It’s superficial much of the time. You need BOTH. Important to note Woman's sensibilities depends a on their emotional state plus if they are taking birth control pills as well. Also if you are man with presence, confidence or status the perception of the perfume also changes. Something that a girl may consider arsh or dislikable can instantly become extremely seductive just because of female's emotional state. Females more interested in confidence and status of a man than exactly the looks which is the opposite what man look for in females. Keep that in mind...

I've watched through quite a few channels since I've been possessed by the fragrance universe recently and I like your channel the most alongside the The Perfume Guy and to a certain degree - Gents Scents. You are witty, smart, entertaining and informative. Most of the top channels are repetitive : top 10's this, top 10's that, top 10's of top 10's, etc. It becomes boring fast, listening about and seeing one and the same names : Bleu de Chanel, Sauvage, Y, Spice Bomb, Aventus clone 1, Aventus Clone 2, Aventus clone 3, 1 Million, Eros, Invictus DNA this, Invictus DNA that, Male, Ultra Male, Bad Boy... I am not here to find out if a scent is an instant 'panty dropper or not' or which fragrance do the ladies prefer? I don't care as I am wearing scents for my personal pleasure and curiosity first - and if someone else appreciates it - well, fine with me. If they don't like it - it's their lucky day as I am wearing the scent and they can freely carry on with their day. I like to discover new scents beyond mainstream and get opinions on as much fragrances as possible from somebody I can respect and relate to. Not needing a pretty young face, alluding to sex whenever possible and riding young peoples fantasies for selling an expensive fragrance through affiliate marketing helps a lot with that last part. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing your passion. Cheers !

I agree with all your reasons, and I add one. Women reviewers are cutting the middle man. Instead of a guy getting the advice on what women like from another guy, why not get it directly from the women, since many guys wear fragrances to impress women rather than for their own personal enjoyment . Many of the female reviewers know this, and they play on the sexuality string.

I can't speak for other male viewers but I tend to watch more female reviewers because my primary reason for buying men's fragrances is to attract women and solicit compliments from women. So I want to know what fragrances women consider to be attractive and sexy. I've also found that sometimes male reviewers over-hype fragrances and claim something is sexy that women don't consider sexy. For example male reviewers really overhype Creed fragrances but women tend to think they're just average or okay. I still watch a handful of male reviewers because they tend to cover a wider and much more diverse range of fragrances helping me to find fragrances that are not as popular. The men are also good at telling you what fragrances are bad and to avoid. Also most male reviewers I watch will frequently do episodes where they bring on their spouse or female friends to give contrasting opinions on what they've reviewed which can be very eye-opening. Likewise I watch the male channels who perform street polls with random women. Sometimes the male run channels offer good advice and tips like who are the best discounters to purchase from. So there is a place for male reviewers but you have to know your audience and give them what they want. That being said I have never watched Jeremy fragrance and personally I don't get what the attraction is or was for him? I'm guessing he just happened to be in the right place at the right time and he was one of the first so he profited from that. I also don't watch these "struggle" channels where some slacker is reviewing fragrances out of his bedroom or dorm room. Production value definitely counts. And I agree that a lot of the female reviewers put more thought and energy into their production. However I'm not a fool some of these women are clearly shills for some companies and some of them have spouses that work in the perfume industry. That's why I watch multiple channels to get more unbiased advice.

Great content! How I personaly pick my reviewers. First; I want to be informed about fragrances itself and not about for example what is the best pantydropper (because those don't excist). So that rules out all the wannabees. Second; I wear fragrances for myself and a lot of content is towards what others think about a fragrance on you. So with that said I can skip a lot of the reviewers left standing. Still over are the reviewers who actualy know something about fragrances, or at least or better into the matter than the others. Last; a reviewer who tries to be popular is funny... but only for a while if he/ she doesn't fit in the first 2 rules it's bye bye. If the reviewer is a lady or a man, I don't actualy care. Personaly I just want a quality content. Video-quality I don't care so much about. For example; scent trail his content appeals to me, but the video-quality is not the best. Ashley in Paris and ATH to me personaly, give some of the best content when it comes down purely on fragrances, because they actualy know what they are talking about (they work in the industrie). ATH is also one of the few capable of giving a honnest review about a scent, even if he doesn't like the fragrance himself. Last but not least. I follow more male reviewers just because they are more serious and in my opinion make a better content. Some exceptions aside like Jus de Rose and Demi.

I agree with the female reviewers offering better production value. I like that they have timestamps and that they at least label their fragrance links. I also like that their reviews are more concise and straightforward. For a 15 min review, male reviewers (Gent Scents) will only do one fragrance whereas the female reviewers will have gone through several different fragrances.

My go to reviewers are usually the dudes...I find I click on the female reviewers less, if at all anymore.

The entire world of fragrance reviewing is disingenuous. The second a "reviewer" gets a free bottle, their integrity is compromised. You're not going to be brutally honest about the shortcomings of something given to you for free, are you? We also know that 99.9% of the people watching the provocative women are incel men who live in their mothers' basements. There is nothing "better" about one reviewer over the others. Today's KZbin reviewers are all the same. Liars. The only ones I'd bother watching are Sebastian, A Gentleman's Journey (he actually does it for the love of fragrances and has a "real" job), and maybe Jus de Rose, but my patience for her is even limited now because she quit her real job to do this and gets all sorts of freebies.

At the end of the day youtube is an entertainment platform and curly kills it in that department, while jus de rose is an actual perfumer so she fills in that other part of wanting to see someone who knows what she's talking about so yeah the top dogs are female as of now

Female fragrance reviewers gets much more attention or gets to be watched more not only because of their appearance but more because mens fragrances are for women's noses so what they say about it practically matters more because we as men wear our perfumes to get women's attention.

Male reviewers should do more street battles with women in the general public. Test youthful frags on younger women mature frags on older women. Female reviewers always test frags on really young girls and hardly any actual grown women. Older male viewers want to know what's attractive to women and not girls barely out of their teens.

Omar I don't think female reviewers are better they are more popular in my humble opinion. I find male reviewers to be more knowledgeable. Aside from Jus De Rose who is an actual perfumist. I think both female and male reviewers bring a good balance to the fragrance world. You need both ingredients to make a recipe work.

Well said. Male reviewers are wayyy more knowledgeable than female reviewers I noticed as well. Why do females do more men's fragrances than women's fragrances?

Asking a girl for dating advice is a disaster, because most women will give advice based on them dealing with a 10/10 alpha… same concept here, if you had 20 sprays of kurus on and a woman think your hot, game over. Female advice is more about feelings…. One famous female reviewer recommended a scent, 3 month later she said it’s trashy…

Idk but I wish fragrance channels would stop with the top 10 list BS. Its legitimately 90% of the content surrounding fragrances and it gets old fast. Always the "top 10 BEAST MODE PERFORMERS" "top 10 COMPLIMENT PULLING FRAGRANCES" "top 10 LONGEST LASTING SUMMER FRAGRANCES" like we get it. Can you have a little bit of originality???

Curly scents and fragrance are ok but they try to hard. personally I like Anne Lauren is much better than both of them.

Personally I think everybody who knows their fragrances, and is passionate, can do it. Most male fragrance reviewers just need to set the bar higher, because a long "talking head" video, with bad lighting and no background is boring. Spruce it up! put some fragrances in the background, make jokes, tease the viewer, be sarcastic or use memes, animations or other visuals to make your point get across. Give people a reason to keep watching. Outside of Jeremy there are more good fragrance reviewers that have grown into great channels. Sure it may take a guy longer than an attractive women, but with the right determination guys can do it too. (Just keep in mind that it takes time) I like watching fragrance videos from Gents Scents, Chaos Fragrances and Alex Costa just as much as the videos from Monika Cioch, CurlyFragrance and Demi Rawling.

I think women are gaining the game of fragance reviews only in English language. In case of Spanish language, fragance reviews are still dominated by men. I don't know the reason, but as a native Spanish speaker I have seen that men who speaks Spanish do not watch fragance reviews channels conducted by women in Spanish language.
