WHY Feral is a 13+ Game

I have no idea why people keep saying this but I’m just going to squash it right here, no I am NOT 12. 😂 1. I sound WAAAY older. 2. I’ve been on KZbin since 2016. If I were 12 right now, I would’ve had to have been 8 years old in 2016 and there’s no way I ever sounded 8 in my old videos from back then. As much as I hate revealing my age, I can guarantee you that it is much older than 12. When I said in the video “I’m 11-12 years old and I’m mature for my age” I was clearly mimicking those Feral players who play the game underage. I can’t believe I even have to clarify this.

Hello. I'm 18 years old and I play Fer.al. And I love this video because it's 100% truth. When I was younger, I got into situations online that are not safe for children. It severely damaged me for many years, and only within the past year have I really started to recover from said situations. I made really stupid mistakes that had really big consequences. And I had to deal with those consequences and learn from them the hard way. If I could give advice to my younger self, I would warn her about these things, and tell her that she shouldn't do them and why. Now that I'm a young adult, I've realized I need to be responsible of myself and think before I do something. Thanks for this video. This is what young kids need to be told, because the preteen rebellion stage can be a very dangerous stage if the child is not properly educated.

Glad you enjoyed the video and found the advice useful haha I was originally going to make a calm video calmly warning kids not to download it, but since it’s such a growing issue with younger kids joining, I HAD to be firm about it. Kids don’t take warnings all that seriously unless you’re firm about them, and given the dangers that they’re signing themselves up for, I’d say I was pretty lenient in this video in hindsight.

Exactly! It’s almost ALWAYS due to poor parenting. Either that, or the kid sneaking onto Feral underage is doing it in secret. That’s gonna create problems though because if their parents don’t know they’re on a 13+ game, how will they be able to ask their parents for help should anything bad happen to them later on? They’ll get in massive trouble either way. It’s just not wise to join Feral at such a young age. It creates such a huge mess and it’s not worth it at all. They just need to wait until they’re 13. That’s the COPPA law.

However, growing up I had a dad who was ALWAYS busy and he himself was actually almost like a child. My mother was also extremely busy and she would always work at her job, both of my parents NEVER had time to sit around and supervise me on the internet. I’m so glad that someone decided to address this issue. It really annoys me that a supposedly 13+ game, where teens and adults are supposed to be allowed to be who they are without censorship, is being overrun by little kids who freak out whenever someone says “a no-no word”. Also, there are many gameplay aspects that just wouldn’t be suitable for young children. For one, the entire Blood Tundra expanse área probably isn’t all too appropriate for young minds. There’s an ocean of blood for one thing, and you can harvest brains and dead remains. Not to mention all the dark humor (eg. the common theme of missing children, and murder, as well as that one quest with the naked guy lmao). Then there’s the gambling, the difficulty of the mini games (twiggle builders I’m looking at you), and just all those hidden little jokes and references that a younger audience wouldn’t be able to understand.

I joined social media when I was 11, I got tiktok there and that app stole my innocence away at a young age. I always thought that I could handle it but it got worse, more and more of my innocence got taken away, what sucks is that the reason I got social media underaged in the first place because my friends (also were under 13) were getting social media. I would have waited til 13 just like I did when I waited for twitter. I’m 13 now, I am permanently scarred from losing my innocence. This comment really reminds of when I joined Amino a few years ago when I was 12. It was kind of fun at first. However the community was very toxic and I started to do things to this day that I still regret. Thankfully my parents deleted that app off my tablet when they saw a group chat i was in. I was upset at first but now I realize it was probably for own good. Since that community was not very good for me to be exposed to at a young age. Even now that i am older i am not going back just because of how toxic that community is. Thanks for this video! A lot of younger children tend to think that they're the exception. But, let it be known that no matter how mature you think you are, you, as a CHILD are NOT the exception. As somebody who is quite active on fer.al, I've witnessed a lot of inappropriate behavior that under no circumstances children under thirteen (in some cases not even thirteen year olds) should be exposed to. There is a broad range of age groups on fer.al, from thirteen to mid-twenties, and none of us want to have to worry about children being exposed to obscenities, predators, or harassment.

Dude this video is absolutely perfect. There was a kid I knew that I was unaware was 10 and she was all excited about playing feral. When I found out she was 10, I told her feral is for 13+ and she shouldn't be playing it. She said her parents told her it's "fine as long as she doesn't take advantage of her stuff". She then mentioned again that her parents are fine with it and that her BROTHER which is 12, plays 18+ games. Uh, no. I hope she ends up seeing this video and understands. A few reasons, why this game is for 13+ : 1. Blood Tundra (might be such a creepy place for children, because there is blood, bones, dark forests) 2. Public chats (people use any words, which children shouldn't know) 3. Minigames (the names of minigames might be disturbing, hiding messages in minigames. For example: "Do or Dye", "What the Hex?") 4. Children are too sensitive, naive and they don't understand the adult jokes and topics. And the children are sometimes too cringe, loud and such attention seekers in the games To be honest, I clearly agree with Ellipsity's opinion. Fer.al is not made for small children to play, not all the games are made for kids, so the parents should watch their children and allow them to play the right games. I remember that I started to play Fer.al one year ago (in 2020) when I was 17 years old. Now I'm 18 years old (in 2021) and I really enjoy this game, of course, it's not one of the perfect games but it's still pretty interesting: impressive graphics, creative animals, exciting adventures. The huge problem in Fer.al - Season Pass and these light-blue spikey crystals - Star Fragments. It's very annoying when you do the tasks in Season Pass and you get like nothing. Most of the animals (werewolves, phoenixs, faes, dragons, kirins, shinigamis, jackalopes) are not for free and you should only get these animals with Star Fragments, cash, or from Season Pass. I'm just telling my own opinion about the game but we all have different opinions, maybe other people love this game more.

Hey, a 19 year old bean here, I can confirm that Fer.al is not for kids. Here are examples of content in the game itself that kids don’t need to be exposed to: 1) Centuria - Not gonna lie, Centuria is basically a bar. It’s icon on the map is a wine glass which that in of itself give of bar vibes. The interior even has a wall lined with liquid filled bottles, which even though they’re supposed to be potions, can easily be mistaken for adult beverages. 2) Blood Tundra - Nearly everything about the Blood Tundra give off some creepy vibes. A lot of ingredients that can be collected in Blood Tundra refer to internal parts of a body. Examples include: Brain Stem, Vein Cluster, Frozen Platelets, Nerve Mesh, Plasma Shards, Blood Fangs, Femur, Bonemeal, Metacarpals, and Skeletal Marrowfish. Blood Tundra’s environment is also rather grizzly when you look at it. There are bones of creatures scattered in various areas of the land, the “water” is a deep crimson color implying that it may actually be blood, and many of the harvest points for ingredients look like body parts. 3) “Reputable” Goods - The questionable nature of where the goods came from is literally right in the name, and it’s icon on the map is a skull. Striker, the owner of “Reputable” Goods states that his place of business is “perfectly legal”, given the name of the shop, this implies the most of the stock sold at said shop have been attained in an illegal fashion. Weather or not the acts of getting the goods were simply shoplifting or something worse is up to you to decide. 4) Quests - Some of the quests you can find around the expanse have some interesting themes. Some of these quests include: Stopping animal poachers, searching for suspects of a “murder”, collecting bones for a stew, finding the culprit who decapitated snowbolds (snowmen), following trails of bloodstains, etc. While all of the quests have good endings, the fact is the quests still have some chilling themes at their core. OdinAJ Yeah it’s understandable, but sometimes you have to be firm with them. That’s what I am doing by making this video. It may be blunt and a tad condescending, but you can’t get a kid to consider the dangers of something unless you’re firm and really warn them about it. They don’t know that literally so many bad things could happen if they join underage. Some may be more mature than others, but the COPPA law doesn’t care about that. By law, the people at Wildworks are required to close your Feral account if you are under the age of 13.

If you still think you're mature enough to play Feral please hear me out. I thought I was mature enough to do something similar but I regret to this day. I developed mental health issues and kept it hidden from my parents. I had been warned about using a certain social media site by them and others but I still used it. It might seem fine at first but the aftermath and regret clings onto you. It's not about you being familiar with mature subjects and language, it's about what people will try to do in order to take advantage of you. If you do join Feral under 13 because you're an angsty edgelord don't say anything that might lead people to knowing that you're a minor. That's not always safe however. Try to keep someone of trust near you (friends!) So they can help you recognize situations that could harm you (ex: online dating). Don't give people your Discord or any social media! They might wanna do creepy things /_\... Sorry for being all over the place... I don't feel rad talking about this but if it'll help at least one person then it was worth it! I hope you take my advice angst ridden pre-teens!

I don't think this was mentioned in the video, but another reason you shouldn't play under 13 is the content itself. For example, the Blood Tundra. In this place, there are some things young children might be uncomfortable with like swimming in what is supposedly a lake of blood. There are more examples but I won't list them out here... also in one of the quests, a character is "murdered" (we find out later that he just spilled sauce on his hat) but it might scare some young kids

I am 14 and In feral I saw in chat that this random player was going around to other characters and asking for them to follow him. The person came up to me and told me the same thing "Hey can U come with me I wanna show u Something cool" I know about online safety so I experimented with him and went with him. He took me to blood tundra in a small nook and told me to have my character "lie down" as he came up and jumped on top of my character. He told me "This is how kids are made" I then asked him how many others he's showed this too (btw he thinks I am a 11 yo girl bc thats what I told him) He told me "Oh baby I show so many others but I love u most" I then messaged him saying (and I quote) "You are disgusting, how dare you do this to a 11 year old girl?!!?! What you are doing is very inappropriate and you NEED to STOP! I am reporting you and blocking you. Stop going around doing this to other people on this game!" I then reported him and blocked him. All I know is that after I reported him he was gone and I have not seen him since. So please PLEASE Listen to this video! my friend and I were in centuria just hanging out when this random person came up to us and started asking us really personal questions, like were we dating, did we have crushes on each other, etc. we were really weirded out and tried to deflect the questions but they kept pushing. eventually I asked how old they were and they said EIGHT. *EIGHT.* I told them right away to unfollow me and to get off this game, that it wasn’t for kids. as soon as I reacted they changed their story and said they were 14. I told them again to get off and play animal jam, and to stop talking to me. I’m so glad you made this video. Kids really shouldn’t being these types of game because 1. Children will complain and freak out when someone says sum like hell or something like that. 2. Like you addressed in the video kids can be exposed to very disgusting people such as a predator. 3. There can be very rude people in the game. And since this is a 13+ game you are pretty much able to say many things you were never able to say in AJ. I'm 14 and I really don't want Feral to end up with the same restrictions as Animal Jam, I love that in Feral you can say pretty much anything and it's so nice to actually have a game that I can say things that aren't kid friendly. All the other games that I play are either single player or have strict restrictions. I have an 11 year old cousin who plays animal jam and although she is very mature for her age and has been exposed to a lot already I do not want her to find out about Feral. Sorry to any kids, I know you're probably desperate to play but please don't. It'll be something to look forward to when you turn 13, the game will be even better by then and your account won't get banned for playing underage.

tbh my main question seems to be about the length of the ban. for example, if someone makes an account before they realize they're underage, and they don't play the game till they're of age, will they still get banned just for making an account while underage? and if they did get banned, will their account be unbanned once they reach 13 years of age?

I feel like this video is way longer than it should be tbh. "There are people on the site that know how to manipulate children and can play mind games you need experience to be able to pick out- and young kids just don't have that experience" can be said in less than a minute and the only stuff left is "Other people can get in trouble legally" and "it's not fair for the other people"

True, but it felt better to give thorough examples because simply stating “it’s dangerous and unfair” is not detailed enough. A lot of people were curious and confused as to why the game was 13+, so I thoroughly clarified all of that in this video. I could probably ramble a lot less though LOL

I get how it is. My parents work at wildworks and let me help beta testing. I was the only one in my family besides my parents who knew about it. But now people on aj are talking about it and my younger siblings got on. That day was the first day of open beta and we shut down over 1000 accounts that were being used by children. After this my parents put locks on every device we owned at home. The only one I could use was my phone and laptop whitch I now have locked and in my pocket or hidden.

thank you so much! one of the biggest problems with animal jam is that it was filled with small children, which is fine, but it ultimately makes for a less fun experience for the older kids due to restrictions and such. animal jam used to get kinds toxic too, and a 13+ audience is gonna make for a much better and mature gameplay. i wish people realised this!! there's a REASON this new game was made, please dont throw it away.

kay Yep! We finally get a chance to create a community for the teens and adults, and we do NOT needs kids messing that up. Not to say that all kids are immature, but the majority aren’t responsible enough to navigate the internet. A 13+ site such as Feral would NOT be the ideal place for them to go.

I've never really realized it until you brought it up but Fer.al feels just alot more complicated in some of its aspects. Not just in it's games but simply in the fact that I feel when it becomes developed later on alot of nuanced story may end up being added to the game and for alot of young kids and kids in general they may not even be able to experience all that just because there not old enough to understand.

I’m a child under 13, and I have already been exposed to inappropriate topics (scrolling too far after searching Gacha life, having questions and asking my parents, etc.) and as much as I want to play feral, I choose not to because I know it could threaten the game to change. I know it could threaten everyone’s enjoyment on it. Plus, 2 years isn’t that long, 2020 has flown by, so why would the next two years? I really wish that other people that are even slightly older than me had the type of sense you do. It sucks to see 9 year olds joining a game not knowing the risks, it’s literally terrible.

This video is the pure truth: I'm 15 years old and I even noticed after starting playing Feral today that even the game istelf explores some concepts that young children simply wouldn't fully comprehend. Things like anxiety (I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, not at all but just an extra piece of evidence towards why Feral is not made for young children.)
