Why FIFA needs the offensive AI from FIFA 17

My dear FIFA 17, I know I complained a lot when I was playing you, but if I only knew the future... I miss you, please come back! Amazing video man, miss those runs so much... I was able to get 36 wins on FUT Champs with a Bundesliga side. Now it's just.. lol? Barely doing Elite 3 with a 4million coin team... EA has the nerve to say that they added timed shooting and GK mooving for the skill gap, LOL... There is not skill gap on FIFA 19, only money gap... Disgusting!!!

This is an underrated video. You couldnt be more right about how runs are so linear, players stopping, passes gliding. Custom tactics must play a part in this in my opinion. I never had to trigger runs in 17, rather i played with a very high speed setting which got my players up the pitch fast, making runs immediately after passes like in the clips you showed. This year ive tried fast build up, jacking up the players in box setting, L1+A passes but nothing works like the speed setting did before. And midfielders especially start making runs and just stop dead for no reason. Love your podcast Sama, and agree that 17 was my favorite. Other than crab dribbling and auto shielding i really felt like 17 didnt have many exploitable features except for maybe the low driven shot (although you could get exposed if you relied solely on this). There were so many fun and different ways to score.

Italian Stallion once again couldnt agree more. The most fun ive ever had in FIFA was playing H2H season in FIFA 16 and i even got into the top 100 because i had so much fun grinding out match after match being rewarded for good defending and dribbling past bad defenders. Even FIFA 17 i had so much fun when i got the FUT Champs bug right after TOTY came out. I didnt spend money and just grinded out games with Musa, Smalling and the usual suspects. I could outplay better teams because even if you had better cards i had a good chance to win if i was the better player. But i agree i miss the fun. I used to call my xbox my FIFA machine because i didnt buy a single game other than FIFA from FIFA 14 to 18. Nowadays i find myself playing Rocket League more often over FIFA because when i fuck up i understand its on me. Its like watching a high school friend you spent so much time them make bad decisions year after year and become a different person. Maybe Youll still spend time with them and still buy FIFA for the nostalgia but the fulfillment of the friendship or time spent playing just doesnt resonate quite the same.

yeah i'm the same, I never used to play shooters, now i play tons of apex legends, and before that i played fortnite. Never would have even tried if FIFA remained fun

Italian Stallion thats exactly how i feel about rocket league but this FIFA is just so broken that grinding out games doesnt make you a better player. The skill gap just isnt there as youve alluded to in the podcast. It reminds me of FIFA 14 where once you hit division three every game just entirely became who could run down the byline and swing more crosses in to win. Maybe im deluded here but i still have hope that the switch from FIFA 19-20 can be similar to the switch from 14-15 where FIFA fixed a lot of the basics. I mean FIFA 15 had its issues like 180 pinpoint through balls, goalies who automatically ran out at one on ones that you could just run by and OP longshots but you could legitimately shut down the through ball/pace spam by cutting angles and manually defending with your CBs. 15 was one of my favorite FIFAs and it came after the worst FIFA ever (until this year happened of course). If FIFA can get back to basics i think we could see a great game again. I just hope we’re not too far into this green timing, goalie moving meta hell hole that some people actually thinks creates a legitimate skill gap in defense and offense to pull ourselves out.

Incredible video from a very informed player, good stuff man. This video honestly makes my heart sink, just knowing the state of 19. Breaking down defenses and getting in behind is a completely foreign feeling now, and just watching this is visual proof of how much the game has digressed. We can only hope for change, but my hope is nearly gone. I would love if they just gave us a FIFA 17 reboot next year with the current content. And crab dribbling removed of course :-)

Now the run I see most frequently is a winger cutting in across the back line but never through it. Which, go figure, sets up the finesse shot I'm actually tired of scoring now and I'm not even that good of a player.

8:32 Brother , if you played football in real life you know that when this happens(receive a ball next to a defender) you are going to make a wide touch because he s next to you. you re feeling uncomfortable you can t make the touch in that position with a defender at your feet. Just in rare cases and if that happens it means you were very lucky. Nice video tho explaining the ai. pes have that too in the 2019 you should check it out.

i have played, but thats why I don't like always using realism. I think the video game version of fifa needs to be different in certain ways from the real world example of the sport, otherwise it cant be competitive. And thanks dude

Just got around to this clip after the state of fifa. Have you ever noticed that when making runs, your striker in a 4231 seems to 'stick' to the defender rather than get away from the defender into space or is that just me making excuses for being a bad player?

YES EXACTLY the strikers literally run CLOSE to the defender instead of the space that they have. Its literally why i rage a lot of the time coz im trying to make good plays and that happens. After adapting to FIFA 19 i lost all enjoyment in playing because of how stupid I have to play to get results.

great video i enjoy it, but honestly this will broken the game .. why ? because the " time wasters " will back again, you can't get the ball if your opponent started passing to GK and CB RB LB CDM with players abuses spaces and give him more chances passes !! and also don't forget the stamina in 17 you don't need subs so funny because your players don't get tired ! ...with those reasons players like " ahmed musa 78 rating " will destroy your defender !! come on man ! me and all of us can't accept this and will complaining about scripting ! if the players like icons or messi CR7 and high rated players that's ok i accepted even if that not enjoyable and " PAY TO WIN "
