Why food is getting more expensive for everyone

Food prices are on the rise worldwide, including essential staples like bread, milk and eggs.
The United Nations’ Food Price Index tracks the monthly change in the price of a basket of food items. The five commodities making up this basket are cereals, vegetable oils, sugar, meats and dairy products.
In March 2022, the index recorded the highest price levels in its three-decade history. It has since come off that high slightly, but it is still well above levels seen in previous years.

Actually, every other thing is getting more expensive. The inflation is getting the best of us, wages aren't increasing and worse is the government who are responsible pretend like they don't know this. I for one has been hit very hard and at this point, I am more interested in a solution because I don't think an end is near. What is the way forward for the less fortunate ones like me? How do we survive this phase? I am slowly losing my mind.

@@berlin2999 not serious? It’s literally $15 for a box of cereal for example at the store I work at right now. We have turkeys with $73 price tags on them. Most of the stores items have tripled in price in less than a year. I know people who hardly eat anything who now spend $100 a week just feeding themselves. If you think it isn’t serious, either you’re more privilege than the rest of us working class or you still have mommy and daddy taking care of you.

same for loved ones here who are qualified for food stamps and have them cut off again and again for no reason with no notice and no recourse. They do not tell the recipients what is going on and though the agency is required to administer benefits with minimal information from clients plus they are required to store all client information for a minimum of 3 years so they do not have to keep asking for it again and again, they stop benefits without reason justification or notice. So what gets skipped is rent. No one helps now because since the pandemic there is supposedly no money; there is a ton of money. Prayer and screaming for help is all to do.

Honestly man, I was about to create a lengthy argument to what you said. But, I’m gonna keep it simple. Business owners may not be perfect, but understand that this is something that is out of control of everybody’s hands (even the owners of the businesses). This issue is so much bigger than profits. Both business and people are struggling. But, yea, like always, the least affluent are the ones that end up suffering the most. So, I guess it should serve as motivation to stop being broke and be prosperous, right? Invest in yourself. Educate yourself in personal finance and investing. Read books. Go to classes, seminars. But, never mind. You can’t be bothered; you just prefer to be complacent with a minimum wage or whatever you make and complain about why the world’s problems are caused by other people more successful than you (aka, business owners, aka your bosses). It's what you get used too, like here in the UK, food prices have gone up, most of us don't like it but it is what it is, but when I look at many of the same foods and drinks in the UK and then compare them to the US, a lot of them cost a lot more in the US than it does in the UK, even thought inflation is much higher in the UK than it is in the US. In the end, it's what you get used too and how that changes in a short space of time what most of us don't like. In any case, the price will have to settle at some point and I'm kinda seeing signs of that happening with many goods already, if it didn't settle and keeps going up, we'll end up finding other ways of creating foods, as there are always alternative options when push comes to shove, just for now, the price hike isn't too drastic for a major change to happen,

i have an idea that could help solve the rising cost of living Which is we grow mushrooms on trays stacked on top of each other because mushrooms Our the perfecting candidate for it because if you were going to do it with cabbages for example The roof of each tray would block out the sunlight for the cabbages below however if you Do it with mushrooms you won't have that problem because most mushrooms don’t need sunlight
