In all important sporting events: European Cup or World Cup football, rugby and Olympic Games there is the presence of foreign police .. Very useful for foreign citizens to have police officers from their countries .

It also doesn't help that because of north Korea, there were less so police and more so a MOBILIZED INTERNATIONAL MILITARY FORCE, protecting it. Because of how delicate the olympics were with NORTH KOREA participating, United Nations Command in Korea handled most of the security

What’s very interesting is that of all of the foreign police agencies in Paris only US police are carrying sidearms (pistol). I know that for example, in the case of this video, the average Korean police officer doesn’t carry a gun (or even pepper spray/taser), only a retractable baton, so that makes sense but the Brazilians weren’t carrying firearms as well. In another video there is a very large California police presence in Paris which makes sense as they have hosted the Olympics before and will again in four years.

I was there just two days ago. It was quite a sight. American sheriffs were guarding a horse patrol unit, while Asian legionnaires equipped with M4 rifles patrolled the Seine River. The heavy police presence was intimidating, and they clearly weren't interested in being photographed. I couldn't help but wonder if such a strong force was really necessary. That said, Paris was as lively as ever, without any sign of the usual troublemakers.
