Yeah. I get the point of the video, but it greatly undermines the incredible heartbreak Frank must be and will be suffering under for the foreseeable future. Raising a little brother for eighteen years only to have him die unexpectedly must crush a man. I wouldn't hold it against him for a second if he quit music forever just because of that.

Personally I really appreciate a slower album cycle because quality > quantity. With Frank’s albums, I love that I know the words and melodies to all the songs and can recall them so easily because I’ve grown with them and replayed them multiple times over multiple years. Artists who release regularly large bodies of work 18+ songs/album don’t have that kind of staying power in your mind. I kinda wish all artists were better at curating and streamlining their albums bc 20+ songs is way too much imo…

Nostalgia ultra because I feel like it introduces a sound that makes you feel a certain way which has stuck and became consistent with his later projects. Which explains the reason why it has so much replay value. To me, that sound is “nostalgic”. No pun intended
@Iluvkelly3 жыл бұрын
i think quality over quantity really depends on the artist. because there are some artists where dropping frequently has really worked for them such as artists like tyler who drop every other year, or rappers like jpegmafia who just drop whenever they feel like it. but overall i do think quality matters way more than quantity, frank ocean could announce hes never making music again and i can’t say id be too upset because the music hes already given has so much value already. but frank himself has proven himself as an artist very early on, there are still artists i feel have yet to reach their potential or expand their range yet and i do think it at the end of the day it really depends on the artist.

This is a good video and I agree with the overall sentiment but I have a bit of criticism on the research end since this video uses Frank Ocean as an example. Frank was pretty active in late 2019 promoting his short-lived PrEP+ club nights in NYC. There’s a lot more I can talk about it but long story short he received a lot of backlash from fans and even HIV/AIDS organizations for it relating to both the club nights and merch he sold on his site at the time. This was supposed to be a regular weekly thing but there was only three and he dropped “In My Room” by the third one and disappeared again. He was gonna headline Coachella the following April but the pandemic hit. Like I said, I understand and even agree with what you’re saying in the video but Frank might not have been the best example. This is still a good video overall, keep up the good work!

I love and respect the way he handles music. True fans know. His music is so much deeper and meaningful than what we hear on the regular. It’s crazy that you said quality > quantity because I was literally on a date earlier today, and he asked me who my favorite artist was and I said Frank Ocean. After I said that he made a face and said, he doesn’t even put on music. And I was like, because it’s quality over quantity. All I can do is chuckle because if you know, you know…. As a true fan of Frank Ocean, I don’t feel the need to rush the process. Other people like the guy I went on a date with, who don’t listen to him regularly, measure his relevancy/success/fan base by how often he puts out music. Lol and it’s honestly laughable because it just goes to show how much depth people lack. S/N: won’t be going on a date with him again

Honestly my opinion of why he hasn’t made any music is because he isn’t happy with his audience. Specifically after the flognaw festival where his fans booed drake because they were let down. He was still doing concerts then and it seemed like he was about to do more shows and release a new album as he was releasing some tracks at the time. On the subject of homer and his brand I am shocked. There is a class action suit against him and his merch brand by some of his fans for not fulfilling orders so I don’t see why he thinks he will get more success or any trust from the public.
