Hence this.

I wonder why in the Musical version the Creature killed William In the novel he killed him because William was really rude to him and adding insult to injury, was bragging about being a Frankenstein But in the musical he is just a sweet kid that politely asks _Who are you sir, do you know me?_ I'm sure The Creature would've kidnap/adopted him, since he was craving for love at that point.
@ofthewilderwoods4 жыл бұрын
DragonSUNGod he wanted to make Victor feel the pain of losing a loved one like how he lost his blind friend when he killed him accidentally (which is also different from the book I think) but you’re right I think that makes more sense

I feel like the music made him alott sweeter so that the audience would feel more upset at his death and they wanted to show how close Justine was with him so that her death would hold an impact too
@fabulousmyriad2674 жыл бұрын
In the novel, the Creature actually admits on first seeing William: “. . .an idea seized me, that this little creature was unprejudiced, and had lived too short a time to have imbibed a horror of deformity." Unfortunately, William's first response on seeing the Creature was:"Hideous monster! Let me go; My papa is a Syndic- he is M. Frankenstein- he would punish you!"
@nkbujvytcygvujno60064 жыл бұрын
You can’t really blame the kid, he was just terrified because of how the monster treated him. The monster sees the kid playing, is seized with the idea to steal him from his family and raise him to be a son, and then grabbed him. The boy cries, “let me go, or I’ll tell my papa!” And the monster says “Child, you will never see your father again- listen to me.” And that’s when the kid started saying his father was “a syndic- he is M. Frankenstein- he will punish you!” In context, that wasn’t him bragging and being a jerk, that was him grasping for some way to scare off a kidnapper he thought might kill him. And as soon as the monster heard the name “Frankenstein” he cries that the boy belongs to his enemy, and does kill him. Clapping his hands over the body, he announces that he has the power to hurt Frankenstein back for creating him. The poor kid... really didn’t provoke him into it, that much, I don’t know where that idea came from.
@tesshawkins95474 жыл бұрын
The kid was sweet in the book too. Maybe a little bit of a showoff about who he was, but he had no reason to think he shouldn't be proud of his family name. William was terrified; and the Monster (aka Adam) planning on "adopting" him is plain kidnapping and the kid reacted in a very reasonable way to being told he'd never see his family again. I don't know I really don't think it would've mattered. William could've been sweet, or a total brat. The second he mentioned who he was related to, his fate was sealed.
@KeepCalmContemplateYourChoices3 жыл бұрын
I mean, Victor couldn't even some up with an excuse? Like he found William's dead body and showed Justine the locket? You know, for being the genius who found out the secret of ressurecting the dead, Victor has a pretty miniscule imagination.
@circa1342 жыл бұрын
That wouldn’t have worked as Victor had just arrived at Geneva and was accompanied with Clerval the whole time. Actually I believe he was told on the road that William was found dead so that wouldn’t have worked. At that point he was like several hours from Geneva and Justine was already found with the locket. He also recently recovered from a very hallucegeny fever(he does that a lot) raving about a monster he made so his words might not be taken seriously. Even so he should have told them bc it wouldn’t have hunted but he decided to save face and not even try to help.

Out of curosity how different is the musical from the book?
@tenchocolatesundaes2 жыл бұрын
@@caffeinatedpossum this musical is probably the best adaptation yet, but it’s still a little different. In the book, Victor has two brothers (William and Ernest, who is the middle child). Instead of Henry dying trying to expose Victor’s experiments, he’s much more of a sunshiny character, and he dies on a trip to the UK with Victor after Victor abandons him temporarily to work on the bride. Also, Henry travels to Ingolstadt to go to college with Victor, and he isn’t present for Justine’s trial. It’s never stated how Creature was made, so there’s no convict in the book. Oh and Victor’s father dies. The book’s also much more homoerotic lol. It’s a good read, and I’d recommend it wholeheartedly. Edit: I almost forgot! In the book, Justine pleads guilty out of fear of how the church would punish her otherwise. She’s also strikingly calm about it, and Elizabeth publicly defends her and is the one having an emotional breakdown throughout the chapter.

Honestly it was a sad fate for William in the musical since we don't actually see and know what happened to him, rather than how it was explained in the book which caused his death. Love the transition when Justine is with William and all of a sudden she's being accused of murdering him. I also liked how you designed the creature (Adam), the stitch work, his height I also like how he sorta takes on Frankenstein's mannerisms, his wittiness is dark with a stunning intelligence. Also he doesn't even look monstrous or ugly, he's just a man with stitches so when Justine refered to him as a "demon" I just don't see what the problem is, if his eyes were the only reason for him being ridiculed and judged then that's sad. Other than that, this video, the transitioning, lighting and just the feel of bittersweet angst is beautiful
@Icarusinhischariot3 жыл бұрын
Can't blame her for thinking he was a demon how would you react if you saw some 8ft man with stitches and glowing yellow eyes? Especially in that time period? I know I would be freaking the fuck out
@sebastianboydtagle07513 жыл бұрын
The book describes how hideous "The Creature " is, the eyes are just one of the more striking things in his appearance 😉
@balanc-joy91873 жыл бұрын
It's left ambiguous on what really makes the Creature "ugly", and honestly the description Victor gives in the novel of using the "most beautiful parts" or something to that effect, it sounds like the Creature honestly _could've_ been good-looking, not ugly, but that there was just something _off_ about how The Creature looked once it was up and moving around. Something in the monster's height, his gait, his open eyes, his every motion, perhaps, just doesn't look _right_ to people who see him, even if he looked as handsome as could be, but people are much more likely to distrust and reject, then welcome with open arms than we would like, especially back in earlier times. EDIT: Looking it up a little more, apparently some of it was the basic fact he was clearly _stitched together_ from dead (and thus deathly pale) body parts (though the novel doesn't say that, this adaptation, and animatic goes with that so it applies), coupled with Victor apparently noting that his skin was somewhat translucent, meaning he and others could _see_ the arteries and muscles beneath, and that his eyes were _indeed_ strange to look at somehow, coupled with the above, apparently he really did look quite frightening. That said, Victor really did try to make him handsome, but didn't think through the rest of it.
@Marrianno2 жыл бұрын
I think its uncanny valley effect. Imagine seeing a dead body of a good looking man in motion, with stitches, unnatural skin tone and yellow glowy eyes. And yes, monster perhaps could be good looking sinse only the finest body parts were used.

AAAAAHHHH! i just came from your these hands animatic and i usually DON'T comment on videos but i can't help it ??? it's so sweet and cute at first and then the switch in the middle of the song, you made it so jarring and i loved it! and having the creature in the background ?? i loved it so much ! oh poor justine, i feel so bad for her. but also the ending ? with the creature's hands going around victor's neck ? idk i know it's symbolic and i loved it ! good job !!

So um hi I just stumbled on this anamatic and freakin love it the drawings are beautiful and the EMOTION!! I’m always kinda sad when anamatics don’t push the facial expressions more but this was ( chef’s kiss ) BEAUTIFUL! And from a musical I just got obsessed with? Literally amazing 😁 Edit: just looked at your channel and got mad because you’re so incredibly underrated >:’(
