It doesn't seem possible, but animal rain is definitely real, and there is an actual scientific explanation for it... probably.

One of my friends just told me that she and her father witnessed "frog rain" several decades ago in Eastern VA. They were driving back home very late at night and the weather seemed fairly clear when suddenly, what they assumed was hail started hitting the car.... they were shocked when they realized it wasn't hail at all, but small frogs falling from the sky. There was no rain, no debris or leaves falling, just frogs! They even pulled over to double check what they were seeing. They never spoke about it again and never told anyone because they thought no one would believe them. But she decided to tell me a few weeks back and my first thought was "water spout!". Thanks for this video, I'll send it her way :)

In Finland when I was about 15. Me and my friend were driving from our cottage to theirs at night time. Then the car started slipping a lot and we stopped to watch what is on the road. It was literally 1km of gravel with diches on each side road FULL of mating frogs. Thousands and thousands of them. First it looked like leaves from inside the car, but when we got out it was crazy! This happened + 20 years ago. The road was paved with frogs and we just couldn't avoid them almost even while walking. There is a steep climb +30 degrees and 300 meters long and we had to gather speed three times to get up that hill. It was crazy. Never seen anyrhing like it and propably never will..

Depends on the size of a frog, larger frogs probably will die on impact but smaller frogs could live. The terminal velocity of small creatures (mouse size or less) can be low enough that the impact alone isn't enough to kill them. That's why the ballooning they were talking about with spiders doesn't result in their death, regardless of the height they can't fall fast enough to kill them ... and with that thought, I am never going outside again.

Idk for fish they usually school up in the ocean (schools of same species) Near the surface. And for alot of frog species its usually mostly one type in a specific pond or puddle. My theories based off the waterspout tornado theory.

THOUSANDS of birds died from being startled? A photo showing at least 500 birds falling from the sky(not sure if this is an actual photo of them falling or just used to get an idea of how many there would be) is because of the birds getting startled? wot m8 that doesn't make sense

I actually was in a frog storm in 2007. I'm not sure if there were any bodies of water around, but we were in an unfamiliar place, so maybe. It was strange though. All of the frogs were very small and white, and there were probably thousands of them. There was also normal rain and strong winds. We kind of assumed it was hail until they started hopping around on our car and we stopped to look at it. In our drive, we definitely killed many of these poor things, but I'm sure most were dying from hitting the ground anyway.

Hello, I know your post is 2 years old but I have just come across it. Just outside of Ottowa, Canada in the summer of 1976 - I was visiting my brother (from the UK) and he was moving house. He hired a van and we then had to travel a couple of hours through a really bad thunder and lightening storm to get to his new home. The rain was really bad and it was hard to see even the road ahead, then it sounded like it was hailing and we were worried that the windscreen would break! Suddenly there was blood all over the window and we stopped suddenly and were scared stiff. It was actually raining frogs and there were thousands of them both alive and dead and squashed!! This is 100% true and I don’t care if people don’t believe us, we were there and we saw it - before this, I had not ever heard that this could even happen!

I experienced frog rain in my small town in Central Asia. Although I only saw an aftermath, my aunt told me that it was normal in that area. Frogs were very small and all over the place, it was hard to walk without stepping on one or two.

I really appreciate that you mentioned Honduras and even pronounced it kinda right. Thank you. Fish don't rain here, but rather, rivers overflow after downpours and some fish are left behind after the river goes back to its normal state. But yeah, people go crazy and say that they actually came from the clouds and get over hyped xddd, it's become kind of a tradition here:)

I was always under the impression that it was tiny fertilised fish/frog eggs being evaporated up into the sky during intense heatwaves, trapped in the water vapours. Then the atmospheric pressure and moisture holds them for a while in clouds, while winds transport them hundreds of miles until their mass becomes too much and gravity (along with regular cloudburst and rainfall) see them drop back to the ground?

When I was little in Nigeria in Africa I used to see it rain little frozen fishes when it rains hard, some of them thaw right after landing in the warm water and just follow the stream of water. You have to really pay attention to notice it though, I thought it was normal but growing up I realised that it's far from normal, most people don't even notice it and don't believe me when I mention it.

'Probably' Yeah, science still can't explain why it's only one species, or why these aquatic creatures survive their journey.

I believe the animals eggs are picked up and the animal grows in the cloud until too heavy to be held up by molecules of air . The tadpoles would be small enough to be clustered together which would be my reasoning for why it is only one species. A small water spout picks up a cluster of eggs . They grow in the sky until matured then fall out when they have exceeded the buoyancy of the water in the clouds.

@SciShow I’ve always wondered about whether domestic pets from different households can effectively communicate with each other if at all. Normally young animals learn effective communication skills from their parents and other adults. If many house pets are chosen very young, how do their communication skills develop and are they able to communicate with pets from other households?

I’ve personally seen soft shell crabs, literally falling from the sky, during a thunderstorm. Have no explanation for it, but the entire town witnessed the event. If it was only soft shell crabs; nothing else, and that makes it even more mysterious.

Its not bcus of water being lighter than nitrogen its bcus of latent heat property possessed by water due to which it can hold more heat than dry air nd thus the pressure is lower
