I dont think movies are flopping because people dont want to see it. Movies are flopping because the production companies are expecting an audience that doesbt exist anymore. The average #1 film at the box office is only making 35 to 50 million. People are just not into going to theaters, especially when they need to worry about the raising cost of other things. Studios need to adjust the budgets for their movies for a smaller market. Look at how successful smaller budget, high concept movies are doing. Budgets are in the range of 15 million for these films and theyre a hit because they make 35 million in the opening weekend. Studios need to stop chasing that billion dollar box office, it just doesnt exist anymore

You knew right away who was going to survive and who died. If they released this movie first then, Fury Road as the sequel in sequential order, it would've been a much more exciting movie. Also, the clear use of CGI in this film as opposed to the more cleverly disguised CGI use in Fury Road was disappointing.

The movie is awesome. But the trailers were all terrible! Which is nice when you are pleasantly surprised by the film exceeding the poorly made trailer expectations. But just like Blade Runner 2049... the ticket sales are going to suffer severely. Another big problem is the title. I think that something like "Wasteland Wars: Furiosa" would have been a much better representation of the film itself. And the trailer could use the "A Mad Max Saga" tagline. As well as "A film, 40 years in the making... is finally here". The main trailer should have shown the "choose one warboy/YOU are awaited!!/WITNESS ME!!!" scene. That would have gotten people SUPER hyped. It's sad because this might prevent George from making another installment in the franchise.

"The Fall Guy" had Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, got good reviews from critics and people who saw it, and bombed. "The League of Ungentlemanly Warfare" got decent reviews, but 93% of people who saw it really like it. Flop. So why wouldn't the next "Deadpool" movie also be a flop? The second film was not nearly as well received. Are audiences really going to turn out for Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine again? Because as with the "Black Widow" prequel, he died in an earlier movie, and it was a great farewell. Now he's resurrected? What next? "The Return of Iron Man" with RDJ? Because that sounds like a really bad idea. The problem is, to me, two-fold. First, it's simply extremely expensive to see a movie, especially as a family event. Two, why not wait a few weeks, and catch it your 80" or larger TV for ten bucks, buy your own popcorn and candy and sodas for one-fourth the cost of a theater, and watch it as a family, or a group of people? This is the same problem films had when television first became more popular. Only exponentially worse, because of the "home theater experience" and the cost of baby sitters being so exorbitant.

The second one cost $110 million to make. And as far as I'm concerned, it was a step down in quality. Not comes the third, and the budget is shrouded in mystery. But estimates put it anywhere between $200-$300 million. And yet, many people are saying this film will easily make more then a billion dollars. Why? Because Wolverine (who died in another movie- the "Black Widow" effect) is in it? Would that really add over $200 million to the box office? If I'm wrong? I'll admit it. After all, I'm still trying to figure out why "Barbie" made so much money.

Furiosa is exactly what I wanted; more of the 2015 Fury Road format. George Miller depicts such distinct cinematography in Australia with Mad Max. The epic nature of the franchise is worth exploring with detailed world-building. The various factions, locations like the blue-tinted, stilt trodden remnants of the ‘Green Place’, Bullet Town and the Citadel fortress with its greenhouse, encased in that yellowish orange color palette and its intricately designed mechanical ‘steampunk’ technology. Fury Road's an action movie at heart, while Furiosa sinks its teeth into the world with storytelling (albeit still having tons of action). The studios shouldn't have delayed this by a decade. Hopefully George Miller gets another crack at it!

I dont think people here have watched the movie and are simply judgmental just for the heck of it. Furiosa is a cinematic masterpiece that has left me speechless! The time and patience one has to dedicate their life, in making a lifetime work, coupled with an unquenchable thirst to provide sheer awe and cinematic brilliance technically and emotionally, stands out at every single minute throughout the movie. Apocalyptic genres are quite easy to enact, since they require an astute understanding of how humans operate on baseline consciousness. George Miller did a fantastic job at delivering this exact sentiment. I am overall pleased with the aesthetic cinematic treatment compared to its predecessor for continuity and not overdoing with CG. Dramatic pacing and character introduction is given justice with sufficient screen time to develop their story arcs and finale plot. The wasteland is merciless and spares nobody. Flawless execution 10/10.

@IRanOutOfPhrases7 ай бұрын
Not a particularly great reason though. There's not much similarity between Fury Road Max vs Trilogy Max. There's another character in this movie that you can call Max though if you wish. He basically served the same purpose, its just his name was Jack.
@joshmckinley29537 ай бұрын
@IRanOutOfPhrases I'd beg to differ it's a great reason. Conceive a star wars movie with no reference to jedi or the force. And yes, fury road was different from the trilogy. But most of us knew it was a reboot. And max was still in it! So the argument remains. Most didn't like he was sidelined in fury road either, but nobody knew that till after obviously. Plus furious wasn't that great or interesting of a character in that movie to give her a solo prequel and scrap max entirely
@carljensen3337 ай бұрын
There was an alternative prequel starring Max but they opted instead upon Furiosa. I’d love to have heard their reasoning.
@IRanOutOfPhrases7 ай бұрын
@@carljensen333 I sort of theorize on it that above. Part of the charm of Fury Road was being able to tell Max's story as simply as possible. Its a big component of the movie. They pulled it off amazingly well. We know almost nothing about what happened 'back then', but at the same time we can come out of it feeling like we know a lot about it. And it also encourages us to come to apply our own imaginations to fill in those gaps. It's legitimately a highlight of that movie with how they told Max's story without any need for exposition dumping. Why ruin any of that with a prequel? In comparison to that, Furiosa didn't have near that amount of intentional mystique in her background from Fury Road. It was a smart call to not give Max the 'explainer' movie.
@carljensen3337 ай бұрын
@@IRanOutOfPhrases You gave me a bit of epiphany there. The characters and environment in the first trilogy didn't need backstory, they were dropped on the viewer and without imposing rationality on the experience and it worked. Max was an anonymous wanderer reluctantly giving in to his good side against cartoonish bullies. It wasn't ever blockbuster, but fans are devout and made it achieve a cult status. Furiosa was a different breed of movie, like Miller now belongs to a different cult. Heh, my younger sister is in that cult. She tore into me when I critiqued the movie on FB, telling me she deserved female action heroes. I told her that's fine, the movies a major profit loss, and it might have succeeded presented as an original property but many male viewers are tired of strong, male leads we grew up with being subverted. When we get a female Rambo movie I'll know it's End Days.

I feel like this video comes out about once a month now. Why did this or that movie flop. The honest answer is that it had nothing to do with the movie but rather the theater industry. For less than the cost of 2 movie tickets you can buy the digital version, watch it whenever you want, as many times as you want and don’t get me started on the difference is food cost. True the quality and sound is better but the home experience is catching up fast. Additionally with it taking less and less time to come out on digital the added weight is not that long especially if you consider as a percentage of time from when you learned of the move to seeing it in the theater vs at home. The theater has become a place for singles who are only interested in seeing it once.
@bschuler7 ай бұрын
Agreed. While my GF and I go to these mostly empty theaters on opening night for the shear spectacle of seeing a great movie on the big screen, I often point out the theater displays of movies that just weeks ago opened at the same cinema.. but that you can now watch at home. All this time of Hollywood enticing people to go to the movie theater to see a movie or having to wait a long time to see it on a crappy TV, are over. Really over. I suspect most movie theaters will close in the near future and on those who can appreciate the theater will go to those that are left, and the rest of humanity will watch movies on their phones or TVs at home. Sad.. but inevitable.

It was pretty good and fleshed out Furiosa as a character. What dragged it down was perhaps it was too much like a Mad Max movie without Max himself and far too close to Fury Road. While I appreciate it being a literal prequel to Fury Road (which is supposed to be named after her) there isn't enough distance to fully appreciate Furiosa herself. -Her name is supposed to be something Immortan Joe gave her, not something she had from birth. She became Furiosa, she wasn't born Furiosa. -Charlize Theron's Furiosa feels like a decades long resentment coming to bloom, we didn't get to see her getting Joe's trust and her fame on the War Rig -We don't see how the People Eater retook Gastown or who put out the fires -The Bullet Farmer is an idiot for leaving his Fortress unguarded twice. Is this why the Vuvulani have so much ammo? -We never got to see the Green Place's poisoning. That was key to Furiosa's character arc in Fury Road - We didn't see Corpus Callosum, the physically stunted but mentally brilliant child of Immortan Joe. Yes the actor passed away, but surely something could have been done. And the middle child Scrotus just appears in this movie but not Fury Road (yes I know he gets his in the semi canon video games) -no Russian Buzzards. Boooo
