I have one nitpick about this video, and it's the fact that Venti would be the strongest character in the game by a wide margin. Him being playable means that Hoyo needs to put enemies in abyss that can't be lifted up or staggered easely in order to make him feel balanced. If they still put enemies in abyss like those, or new enemies that are easely lifted up, he would be the most used and strongest character.

I think one thing that you could have touched on is that to prevent excessive powercreep, genshin designs the archons with supportive capabilities in mind. There are lots of big dmg dealers in anemo, geo, dendro, hydro, but the archons have a recurring utility aspect that helps ensure they're uncontested in the situations demanded of them. Even if some of them have very generous multipliers on their attacks, all of their elemental bursts aim to provide something to the party, whether thats energy, durability, crowd control and reaction or damage buffs. On a sidenote, they all also offer off-field elemental application in some form, hence the current "afk" archon team. I feel like even with the pyro archon, she'll be similar to raiden shogun by dealing high damage but also giving off-field buffs/off field pyro application. Similarly, the tsaritsa will almost certainly provide crit rate buffs given its ubiquity with cryo artifacts and resonance.

And they provide support that's co-op friendly: it isn't too important what the rest of the adventure team is or is doing, and their skills as well as the bursts are providing friendly support. Venti can even help others with traversing the map.

I think that's part of why Raiden being "the best electro character" is debatable, because of all the archons, she's the one that's the most dps-orientated (dps as in the team role, I mean.) She's up against Fischl because Fischl is more support-orientated then her, which equates to utility. (And that's saying something because Raiden can definitely work as a sub-dps and is definitely designed as a team player.) If Raiden was designed more as an electro sub-dps than dps, the same way Nahida and Furina were designed as sub-dps for their element, I have no doubt she'd be better than Fischl.

i postet this in my own comment but i think it fits well in here too so once again^^, to murata/fire, one way i can think of is to make the archon the symbol of the element and at the same time "future proof" would be for her for example to accumulate the damage dealt by the group to a certain percentage and then discharge it in its own burst with a big blow. so even if stronger chars come out in the future they could enhance the dmg dealt by the archon. add some debuff, buff capability to this and you have a pretty interesting char

Gnoses are just focusing tools. Think of it like a wand in the Harry potter series. They can use magic even without wands, it's just more convenient to use a gnosis for more dexterous uses like creating Mora for example. But a lack of one doesn't remove zhongli's ability to summon a meteor.

@@XibaTen In terms of Lore, an Archon's authority over the element comes from their Archon throne - a separate thing from the Gnoses. Focalor's destroyed the Archon throne to be able to give that authority back to Neuvillette. The gnoses are still a bit mysterious - they are powerful, sure, but they don't seem to be essential for an Archon to exist and function. They seem akin to very powerful "weapons" that can be used to perform miracles, and elevate beings that were already powerful to begin with.

With so many Pyro on-fielders I can see Murata being a 5* Xiangling since there aren't many off-field Pyro characters. As for Tsaritsa I think it would be so interesting if she could amplify Freeze by being able to freeze bosses, changing the rules of the game established at the start

I don't think Murata is going to be a on field DPS (having a significantly larger AOE than other Pyro on-fielders as a way to help differentiate from them) or she could be designed to be played as both on field or off field (kinda of like Raiden Shogun, but with her off-field damage being significantly higher while still getting some type of buff to her damage when on field). The Tsarista I have no idea. Before Wrisosley I thought her main gimmick would be the only cyro catalyst user but since that is no longer the case I assume she will be a part of some new gimmick that gets introduced around her release.

It's true that we don't have many off-field pyro characters now, so it would be nice to get more of that, but at the same time none of the 5 archons we have right now are true on-field dps, unless you count Neuvillette, since he's assumed the full authority of Hydro.

Sorry, Vars, but when you make lore statements, you need to check them. Archons neither choose who receive a vision, nor do they choose to stop giving Visions. EI herself was surprised that no new Electro Visions were given to mortals since Vision Hunt Decree And Neuvillette's character details explicitely state that it's Celestia who decides. Archons have ZERO control on Vision destribution system. Also, Ei became a NEET right after constructing Raiden Shogun at some unspecified time in the past. Vision Hunt Decree was put up a year before Traveler's arrival to Liyue, Zhongli stated that.

Not to be an “um actually”, I think it was revealed where it’s something like archons receive the ambitions from the people who I guess correlate to the archon and then are sort of demanded to grant a piece of their power to this ambition (this ambition being anonymous) which is why (SPOILER TO FURINA STORY QUEST AND FONTAINE ARCHIN QUEST!!!) Furina’s vision is special since Neuvillette gave it to her when he didn’t have to (evidenced from the dark spikes at the edges) so your statement I think is sort of true but archons do have a small control over the system. Neuvilette has been able to do it because of his 'full control' over Hydro. This is because he isn't the archon, he is a fully powered dragon sovereign.

Ei not only had zero control over Vision destribution system, but also shown to be stunned that new Electro Visions were not given, which indicates that she was completely unaware of a change. Vision giveaway is fully independant from Archons. And about Neuvillette. It was not stated that Neuvillette give Visions himself. It's said that he contributed to Celestia's Vision system and he left portions of his powers to be taken by mortals. It wasn't his choice to give Furina her Vision specifically. Basically, he now plays by Celestia's rules. For some reason.

Something i also love about shoguns kit is that you can see how shes the god of eternity in it. Her e is infinite uptime wich screams eternity and her burst recharges her teams bursts making a cycle of rotations that can be preserved without change for eternity if there was a enemy that lets then do so. While other archons do embody their elements principals they don’t embody their ideal and weather it was intentional or not this is why i believe shogun is the best designed

I always like to think that the Archons were all designed to fix the biggest problem at the time. Venti for grouping, Zhong gor survival, Ei for energy demand, Nahida for sustaining reactions, Furina for filling roles (healer, buffer, dps and hydro applications all rolled into 1). So I think the next Archons will fix the longest problems we're still dealing with with cryo and pyro

I'll just always find it funny that at the start of this game, Venti was so much more powerful then any other character by far that everyone wanted him. He also made abyss possible, not just doable you basically needed/required him specifically. He also gave an updraft, no other character could. He was too powerful too early, they skipped the whole power creep thing and just gave us someone whose a lot stronger then you should need that early on in the games life. So much so they have to design enemies to be not effected by his attacks just to remove his relevance. They had to alter the game because of his existence. Meanwhile Zhongli gets released in a state that was so bad he was terrible to own before his buffs, and from what I am reading, he is the only character release to ever be buffed? And instead of just being strong, they go and design a boss around his kit to make him a "requirement" when the boss itself was just extremely terribly designed.

I find it funny through the Archon quests currently (of the playable) only Nahida and Ei are the only Archons that are the recognized archons of their lands while Venti (having hidden in plain sight), Zhongli (morax officially is “dead) and Furina (having passed on her authority and gnosis-yes I know Furina never actually had the gnosis but she was the recognized face of Fontaine) are just choking an doing what they please as mortals (albeit Venti and Zhongli possibly still have their long life spans)

Furina had the gnosis ~500 years ago when she became focalars as the archon after the death of Egeria. (and then split herself so the Furina half no longer held the gnosis or divine powers, but for a little bit there [longer than wanderor lmao] she did indeed have the gnosis just it was before our travelors time)

There is another side to Furina kit representing the hydro archon. Flat is justice... Okay im joking. There are 2 sides to Justice, retributive justice that is portrayed most often, meaning punishing those who commit crime, and the other is restorative justice, meaning justice that seeks to repair the harm done to victims. And what Furina does? On one hand she deals damage and on the other she heals. Brilliant, simply brilliant.

I noticed that too, but there’s also a very specific little detail adding to this whole theme: while furina’s combat abilities are pretty much low lore-vise (not character kit vise), her counterpart, focalors, on her statue is pictured with a sword and not scales. furina also uses material talents books telling us about restricting justice, with the sword on its cover. focalors so far is the only archon who holds weapon on her statue. not the skilled and experienced morax, not the ruthless warrior beelzebul, not the rebellious barbatos… it’s focalors. an itty bitty little usurper who’s counterpart is afraid of slimes and horror books. I just wonder why it is specifically focalors who wields the sword. I hope hoyoverse will give us massive lore drop about this, I want my beloved focalors to go nuts

i think we alr have high risk high reward with Furina's health drain. hp drain or not, pyro has been known for frontloaded dps as well as nuke potentials. I won't be surprised if murata is a burst buffer since we dont have that one yet. sure raiden technically buffs the characters burst but it's not by a lot and it's purely to build up her stacks. murata would probably be either big damage boost for the burst or big initial damage, like a single 1 mil nuke buff, and if she buffs the bursts of characters, then xiangling will once again reign as the strongest pyro character

The only thing I am going to predict when it comes to the Pyro archon is that I think she'll be a claymore user like Diluc. I only say that because every other weapon has been used by the current icons. Claymore hasn't and I feel that be very fitting for the archon of war lol. But yeah I wouldn't be surprised if she was a major DPS unit. With the Cryo archon, no clue because of how very little information we have on her.

Spoiler alert: Furina is NOT the Hydro Archon, who executed herself. The closest is the Hydro Sovereign Dragon, Neuvillette, who regained his full authority over Hydro after Focalors died and destroyed the Hydro Archon throne. So much for those who want to collect all the Seven Archons, we can only get six. Also, I guess you can say Scaramouche/Wanderer is a pseudo-Archon, as he was used by the Sages to replace Nahida, and retained some godly power even after the Gnosis was taken from him, to remove himself from the World Tree.

Furina was the Hydro Archon, or at least she was a part of the Hydro Archon before she split herself into 'Focalors' -the divinity -and 'Furina' -the body and spirit. Technically, 'Furina' and 'Focalors' combined make up the 'Hydro Archon'. It was only after the split that Furina was turned into a human and she was left with not even a shred of the divinity she once had when Focalors and her were still one.

I wanna imagine the Pyro Archon won't be locked to just Attack scalers like a 5* Bennett might be. I think the Pyro Archon Kit will do two things. Firstly, being the best party healer, and secondly, being a Talent support. The first idea is that the God of War being some nigh unkillable badass because of stupidly strong regenerative capabilities just sounds correct to me, even if in gameplay that would mean being a super strong healer for the whole team. Her Skill could be a 25s~30s type that puts an aura on the active character. Attacks from the active character can heal not only themselves but also the entire team, while also having enough Pyro application to enable Forward Vape. And her Burst could be a 2-piece special; it could be a massive party-wide heal plus a Pyro infusion state that buffs her based on how much healing she/the team received. As it's on her Burst, she can either stay on field if she's your main DPS, or she can swap out immediately without issue if she isn't, but her Burst still has a use if she's not the DPS because of the party heal. The second thing the Pyro Archon will do is increase Talent Modifiers. This keeps her from stepping on Furina's toes since Furina is Dmg% and the Tsaritsa/Cryo Archon will most likely be Crit%. With Nahida covering EM and Raiden covering ER% and a smidge of Burst Dmg%, the Pyro Archon increasing the base value of your Talents lets her apply to more than just Attack%. Characters who's Talents use Attack, Defense, HP, and EM alike will all benefit from the Pyro Archon this way, and complimenting this with her insane healing potential will help her synergize with units like Furina and cement her as the most universal Support in the game, taking Bennett's title from him. I feel like they're gonna fuck us over and lock her on-field capabilities behind her C2 or even C6 if Furina and Nahida are anything to go off of. That said, I could imagine something busted for a C6 of someone who supports Talent Levels; increasing her own Talents by just adding whatever Talent Levels her allies have. A full team of triple crowns adding 30 Talent Levels to her NA, Skill, and Burst would be absolutely unhinged, for example. I think she'll be the best support if we ever see a Pyro Sovereign become playable who might effectively be just a Pyro Neuvillette. Then again, maybe the Pyro Archon will be one of Neuvillette's best supports? Neuvillette w/Furina/Nahida/Pyro Archon might be able to continuously land all his Vapes from across the map with none of the drawbacks of needing to be close to enemies like Xiangling currently wants you to be. And if you build the Pyro Archon for EM like Raiden, you could probably get a ton of safe Burgeon AoE into your team since the Pyro Archon will always be healing you along the way anyhow. I keep saying Pyro Archon because I'm not sure if Murata was the original Pyro Archon who got replaced since Venti and Zhongli are the only original Archons. Or maybe Murata is the replacement. Either way, I'm not expecting her to survive GOATHIMtano. Since Natlan's based on South America it sounds like, it'd be cool if we just got to Natlan and Capitano's on his way out with the Pyro Gnosis saying Murata died. And yeah Murata was the archon 1,000 years ago or earlier and the one that Venti was friends with, so she was most likely the original, which means the current pyro archon is probably someone different, but they might still release Murata. I think what is good is also that genshin is a team gameplay, and all archons are better used as support and not as main dps, which means they can always be played, best supports for what their element is needed, so the other slots in a team can be anything, but them? Like, you can di any dendo based team but no one applies dendro like nahida, like, you can play the game without a shield but if you wanna relax and enjoy the game, no onencan protect you better then grandpa geo

Kinda in a nod to how the Delusion changes physical aspects of a Fatuus' design, not changing the body per se, but acting like some power up armor. 'Aight Imma just bring my own take on Murata now. Knowing how fire is mostly known for it's destruction, another thing that it does is weakening. We cook food to weaken nad nullify they're general compound structure which are mostly very strongly bounded making them hard to consume if not cooked. Anything that survives after a fire will most likely be weakened too, however fire could also toughen things up, making them even more durable in many cases. Giving how Murata is the god of war, I will bet my money that she'll do three things: +Debuffing: she will be the first most effective debuffer in the game, making the enemies a lot more vulnerable and stunted as we need to weaken our enemies' consense in order for a surprise attack. +Increasing defensive capability: Kinda like Xingqiu but make it better. Increase DEF, increase stuns resistance, increase dmg RES you name it. +DPS: this is kinda obvious since you know, god of war and all that. She'll be kinda like Raiden in this department imo. If they will give her some buffing capabilities then I want her to buff the general stats of all characters' talents. Make it be like Childe with his increase normal attack level but make it BETTER, either she will increase the level of all talents as a whole or buff the general stats of said talents so don't give a shit whether your DPS is atk, def, hp or whatever scalers because she's buffing them nonetheless. I kinda want her to lean more towards the defensive/debuffing side of spectrum cuz those are kinda rare inbthe Archon roster, with imo only Zhongli and maybe Furina + Nahida being capable of those.

On the topic of pyro supports, any word on the community's thoughts on Cheveruse? I wouldn't say she's as good as the Power-5 due to her being limited to pyro/eletro teams, but within that niche, she's essentially a more potent version of Benett with a built in res shred who does damage at C0 and cracked at C6, based on her Con descriptions. She was essentially the reason I was able to 36 star abyss after two years of playing this game, so I'm surprised people don't talk about her more.

While the archons exhibit the core principle the element they represent, I believe the sovereigns exhibit the pure and raw strength of 7 elements, making them quite possibly the strongest units for each element. Neuvillette proved this for hydro, and knowing Hoyoverse, they might release more sovereigns in the future in order to extend the lore beyond the 8 chapters of Teyvat. I honestly think Neuvillette being a playable sovereign is just the beginning of what they might add in the future.

If you continue the thread of combining the meta with lore, it kinda makes sense that Venti is the weakest of the 5 available archons, and can even be outclassed by mere mortals with an anemo vision. Archons derive part of their power from the control they wield over their nation, and Venti deliberately has a hands-off approach (despite very much still being the active archon) because he is the god of freedom, and he wants his people to be free to make their own choices. (That's also why it was so easy for Signora to just drop kick him and take his gnosis, it's not like Venti isn't powerful but he lacks brute strength by choice.) So him also being the weakest archon in the meta, while also having a powerful anemo-related niche, makes a lot of sense. And there are anemo users out there who have invested in raw strength the way he's chose not to, so him not being able to hit numbers as high as Xiao or Scaramouche also makes sense. You could draw a similar line with Zhongli, where both in the lore and the meta he began as insanely powerful, but isn't unwilling to acquiesce his dominance to others, especially mortals. But he, like Venti, will always remain emblematic of what their respective element is all about.

And no, Neuvilette does NOT ret-con Raiden's statements. The Hydro Archon doesn't exist anymore and the Hydro throne is destroyed. Returning the power of hydro to the Hydro dragon Sovereign, which is Neuvilette. Hence he can control that granting of visions from his own power. At best, the elemental throne an Archon is assigned to has something to do with the granting of visions, but Archons do NOT decide anything regarding them and aren't even made aware when they are granted. It's likely that the thrones channel elemental power to Celestia and works as a channel to grant visions from said power. PS: for some reason, people will go full Twitter hate mode on you for stating this. Which I don't know why.

Btw! Murata was the original pyro archon, and we know that none of the archons are the original ones except for Venti and Zhongli, so the current pyro archon can't be Murata. We do know she's been referred to as "she," so the current one is a woman (unless that was a writing/translation error), but she won't be Murata - or Murata won't still be the archon. It's possible that Murata will be the one they release because someone usurped her power and then she reclaims it or she was killed and now she's been reborn or something like that, or there might be someone totally new as the current archon

I really love how the archons embody the main aspects of their element and also something beyond the limits of the standard genshin system. Consider this, venti with crowd control, with the ability to let any character fly on spot, surpassing the traversal system. Zhongli with his incredible shield, that's permanent in terms of duration and geo representative, and also surpassing the damage aspect of genshin. Raiden, with energy recharge for electro, and going beyond the standards of the genshin system not only by surpassing the energy system by universally batterying and also providing permanent electro application, with limitless duration with her skill cooldowns. Nahida, with permanent dendro application with her skill cooldowns, emblematic of the reaction centric dendro meta and also going beyond the internal cooldown system by functionally giving enough dendro application to be near infinite. Furina with permanent healing and hydro application for hydro's healing and reaction meta and also susrpassing the healing system of the game(and also her ludicrous dmg buff). The archons not only represent their element brilliantly but also surpass the system of the game in a way going beyond the mortal characters.

I agree with the general idea that they are all extremely well designed. I also agree that I think that's Murata will be a main DPS. I have a video (which I will link) about what I think should be in her kit. The question that I want answered for her will be if she is a persistent DPS or a burst DPS. If I were to guess, despite pyro being often consider the big oonga boonga DPS, since Raiden is already burst based, Murata will be persistent. But that's speculation on my part. As for the Tsaritsa, I'm not fully sure what she'll be yet. We need more information. However, I'm willing to take a stab and say that there are two possibilities for her kit. As a believer in the slime theory, I'd say that she will either have a dropping ice ability or a ice mist ability. Personally, I'm voting for the mist. I'm also going to guess that she's very, VERY freeze oriented. Like, potentially has a passive that increases the duration of freeze on a target. But again, that's speculation. honestly, we just need more pyro supports. i know the likelihood of Murata being a support is slim to none, but g o d do we need it for mono pyro. tbh, i'd take her being both support and dps. Lyney just needs more, and Thoma or Xiangling just don't cover for what characters outside of the element do. speaking on the idea of her being a general type, support and dps like Ei would make sense, boosting the damage of her team while also boosing and doing big damage herself. there was also a theory i heard not to long ago that there might be two archons instead of one, though it's a long shot. it could be a case for the archon and sovereign to rule over Natlan, sorta like Neuvi and Furina. if that's the case, it could be split between the two, one is pure dps, while the other is a support boosting said dps. we'll just have to see

Purely from a gameplay perspective this is what i think/want the last 2 archons to be Murata should be a pyro on-field dps. Pyro is the element of on-field dps so this is a no brainer. I think she should also have a big pp damage ability like hutao. As for something unique, i think she should have a talent that allows her to prolong other party members' off-field abilities. Prolonging things like bennett's ult, xiangling's ult and yelan's ult could allow more time for murata to stay on field and do damage. As the god of war, i think this also fits into the leader architype of leading her team to war. As for the tsaritsa, i think she should play around freeze. Maybe even allow her to freeze bosses or without a reaction like zhongli's ult can. She should also be consistent and have high uptime like ayaka and ganyu. A talent that makes frozen enemies take more damage is also an idea.

Honestly, I can very easily see Murata being more tactical. "Infantry wins battles, logistics wins wars." Though I doubt she should just sit on the sideline, I picture her more fighting on the frontline while strengthening her “soldiers” and keeping them alive, somehow. How this could work in game? I have no idea. As for the Tsaritsa, thought it would be cool if she was some sort of healer and could “freeze” her team’s health in place, preventing it from going up or down for a time. But at the end of that timer, all healing or damage that unit has accumulated would come back all at once. Think this would fit well with Cryo’s theme of persistence, while putting some pressure on the player.

Lorewise I assume the original seven actually were the strongest beings on Teyvat, since they had to be able to end all fighting in their respective regions and unify each of them under their leadership. In the present day, it looks like things are more complicated since most of them are either successors or were never interested in being the strongest since there aren't as many national threats to fight off now. Marketingwise the archons have always been and are always going to be the most hyped unit of every region, so they probably need to be insanely powerful to live up to people's expectations and push sales. I think that the reason they made Furina so OP despite not being an archon was because she was still being marketed as one, and they were worried about pissing off players with false advertising.

As I said in the comments of the Ratheil video you mentioned, Archons should always have _something_ that they're the best at. So long as they have some kind of niche role that is moderately useful that no other character can outdo them in, they'll always be relevant even if other characters get released that have better numbers than them. Venti having the best crowd control against "Venti-able" enemies, Zhongli having the best, most consistent shield, Raiden... yeah idk (flat energy gain for teammates? Tbh I'm not really sure what she'd be the best at, she just feels like a "I am 95% of like 5 things where some other characters can maybe barely hit 100% in 1 thing" type of character), Nahida having the most consistent damage regardless of range and number of enemies (and of course dendro application, but I'm trying to leave their respective element out of the judgment here) and finally, Furina with the best, most consistent DMG% buff.
