I have met so many German people around my age, and I can say... wow!!! I used to be so sad but now I smile every day!!! All of my German friends just have calm voices and amazing personalities! Since I met them during quarantine, I sadly have never met them in real life. However, I can say one thing... they love me more than any other person I have ever met!!! Sometimes I get scared, anxious or panicky. Often times nobody really would stay with me until I'm completely recovered. However, when I met my German friends, they showed me something about them. Until I was fine, they stayed right there and comforted me! My other friends from America (my country) say the same thing. I even have a friend with autism who says that the Germans were so nice to her! They are direct, but they are sympathetic and empathetic. It's incredible! One time, there was a terrible situation going on which involved three people freaking out. The next thing I know, my German friend Kyra is up at 5:00 AM her time helping everyone! I can't say enough... I just love them! You'd think because of the world wars that Germans are rude and cruel people, but that's not the reality now. I have formed connections with multiple Germans, and two of them agreed to record songs with me!!! The best part about what I just said was this: My other German friend Lilly seems very serious. So as a result I am not sure how she is when it comes to funny things. But, when I asked her if she wanted to sing a funny song with me she said yes!!!!! Germans also overdo things a little... one time my American friend was just a little scared and my two German friends acted like she was super panicky. Even though the Germans didn't need to act that way, everyone was so happy. As I said above, I am smiling so much more!!! I have SIX Germans in a group chat with me and they are some of the kindest people there! I love them! To all the Germans who are reading this... thank you for everything! Hold up... I forgot to mention something else! One day I was bullied in the worst way. The bully even tried to push my German friends away from me but they all stood their ground. The Germans were the ones who called me every day after the bullying happened and they comforted me saying that I could still trust them and that the bullying was over. Now, I'm done talking. Thank you for everything Germans!!! I love you... Ich liebe dich!!!

@@thomasrichter7767 I met them in a kind of unusual way. I'm a blind person, and of course it can be hard to find other blind people. So my friend MaKenzie set up a texting group chat for blind people. It turned out that a German got in there, and I was not sure what to think. But after I met her, I was so happy that I wanted to meet other ones! So, I connected with a bunch more the same way. Also, saying hello back to you from America!

I really wonder why foreigners always emphasize how punctual germans are: First of all, in almost every other country I've been to, punctuality has been (almost) as important as in Germany - even in Kenya! Second of all: A lot of the german people are not that punctual at all, including myself, I have to admit XD Same thing with the directness: I don't see why germans are considered as overly direct: A lot of foreigners I met have been much more direct than any germans. A lot of them use to tell you what they really don't like in Germany and how they disliked the german people and language - straight in the face. In my opinion, that's very rude and I would never do that if I visited another country - but I experienced that many times by foreigners in Germany. Even americans have done that. So I couldn't really figure out yet what people mean by saying that germans are being so much more direct than other nations? And I also don't know why people always say that you don't talk about personal stuff at work - Me and my colleagues have done that all the time at work! So I am a little confused...would be intresting to get some clarification! :)

Two good replies here already. But the traits they are all describing are from traditional German culture before immigration. The immigrants are a relatively small % so they have some influence on the culture (hello Doner Kebap! and suddenly I want one now) but mostly they have to learn how to interact with the main culture, so someone of Turkish descent today several generations or even less later is a Turkish flavored normal German with those traits.
