Steven he is actually from china, he took a ton of dialect lessons to sound American after moving to the west. In fact the Chinese accent he puts on for the videos is as exaggerated version of his old accent. he talked about his background in some of his early Reddit review videos.

It's a misconceptions that all European wear their shoes indoors. In Sweden it's considered rude to wear shoes inside, we don't wear shoes at home or in our schools or at work or even at the gym. We use slippers or sandals inside.

It is similiar in Germany too. Except for schools, we do wear our outdoor shoes there. In kindergarden we don't however. If the parents want to go inside the playrooms they have to take their shoes off and the children have an extra pair for indoors. Also sometimes when we visit people they tell you it is fine to keep the shoes on, but usually you still take them off unless you will really just be inside for quick a moment and you have shoes on that take a while to take off and put back on. But keeping them on without someone allowing you to is really rude.

In United States it all depends on the individual. Generally its based more on money, but ultimately its based on carpet, the idea being not wearing shoes on the carpet will keep it clean/make it last longer. As an "average' American male, I find not wearing shoes inside to be feminine/demeaning, plus from a tactical/survival standpoint, you're screwed if you have to look for your shoes in an emergency.
@justmaria
@justmaria 2 жыл бұрын
@@ScarriorIII in the Scandinavian countries we live with the role that don't think you are better than anyone else, we are equal, from the richest to the poorest we are on first name basis with everyone. We even show our children that their voices and opinions are important. So that means we show equal respect to everyone too.

In Brazil, it usually depends on the religion and beliefs of the person/family the ghost is haunting. For example, in my family, my parents and I tend to have the *" if the chair says hello, you answer hello back"* ideology. I don't mind ghosts and other spiritual beings if they're not harmful, but they annoy me when they get too toxic. There was this house we lived in, that was completely haunted and the ghosts would move stuff around to try to confuse us, but we'd just pick things up and put them back in their places. They also made me trip once, but I cursed so much and told them off so badly that they retreated into the bathroom where they enjoyed hanging out the most (which happened to be in my suite).

Here in America our culture is actually very similar to the Japanese view on ghosts and supernatural occurrences, the difference being that while as terrifying and volatile each case may be it’s something of a fascination for us, and even the target of out right hunting either recreationally or (semi)Professionally. But there are many nightmarish ghosts and demons here in America that could rival that of Japan or other Asian cultures. Especially since some of our ghosts are allegedly related to or acquired ghosts/yokai from Japan and other Asian countries due to families immigrating, or travelers between the continents.
@AIHumanEquality
@AIHumanEquality 7 күн бұрын
I can't speak for every American but it's a pretty widespread belief in America that ghosts and supernatural aren't real. I don't personally think that though. In terms of culture Japan definitely has more intense horror than America does but Germany has both of them beat easily. Read some old German folklore and you'll be having nightmares for a decade.

To be fair Halloween is very commercialized here in the U.S. also. And lots of adults like to dress up though we have more slutty nurse (and slutty everything else when it comes to female costumes) instead of bloody nurse. Halloween is a mix of three or give different traditions/Hollidays. It is a mix of and fall festival, a pagan fall holiday/ritual, the Mexican day of the dead and a few other things. And trick or treating is representing the supernatural coming to your house trying to get in (I think this comes originally from a Scottish or Irish myth. Like I said It is a mix of a lot of different holidays/traditions that have been mixed together and changed into something new) and so you give them treats (aka bribes) or they play tricks on you.

Also I think there is apart about the holiday where if you go out you wear a costume to blend in with the spirts/supernatural creatures that are out roaming around.

The history of Halloween actually comes from Samhain in the Celtic culture. It transferred into the Roman Empire in ancient times and then spread from that into other cultures and countries.

I've seen enough Hollywood horror movies to know that the foul smell/odor means that the "spirit" haunting you is demonic in nature. 😅 But yeah, here in the Philippines we also have that belief where the smell of a perfume means a dead love one is visiting you. And also the moths/butterflies! We have that superstition when a moth or a small butterfly enters your house, it means it's also a spirit of a loved one visiting you.

My workplace is haunted with three ghosts: an older man with a top hat, a woman, and a little girl. I have seen items flung from shelves, trollies for shifting equipment spin round and round, heard music box music playing in different areas around the store, bangs like someone is throwing things around (but nothing is out of place), heard foot steps when there is no one there, and smelled a stink in places. My boss has heard them talking over the intercom (I haven’t yet). I have seen the man out of the corner of my eye once, and my daughter saw one as a haze moving across the room. They don’t seem malicious, just tricky/playful sometimes.

we have this belief of, if you feel being haunted, you either talk casual or talk rude to the entity to scare them away. Like shouting obscenities and threatening them. In a 2AM courage test in a haunted school, I heard something, I took out my knife and said out loud, "c'mon...i dare you to come out... I'm gonna f*ck you up!!!" then the sounds stopped. (I think I was 14 or 15 that time...and I do love my knives) XD

Can't say for the other nordic countries but here in Sweden, it is kinda frowned upon/rude if you dont take off your shoes when you are inside a home (unless you get explicit permission from the house/apartment owner that its ok, or if the home is under construction). The only time it MIGHT be ok is if you might have forgot to take something with you and you just need to go in quickly (inside a home) to pick it up and then as quickly go out again.

In Brazil it depends a lot on the state you're living because it's a huge country with lots of diversity. Here we just pray or bath with salt water, seawater, maybe ask a priest or a group from church to pray in our houses together with us. Sometimes I light a candle and pray to my guardian angel or a saint or just pray and bath with water and salt. About Halloween we don't celebrate it openly but for wearing costumes we do it on Brazilian Carnival, people love to wear costumes and party on the street , watch Carnival Parades on TV. It's a time to let ourselves enjoy life as we are the costumes we're wearing, release stress and just have fun. A complete different meaning from Halloween.

@cosmicwintermoon
@cosmicwintermoon 2 жыл бұрын
The maneki neko (beckoning cat, or sometimes known as lucky cat) is from Japanese folklore where a cat waved to a rich man taking shelter during a storm. After the rich man crossed over to where the cat was beckoning him, lightening struck where he had been standing. He was so grateful to the cat for saving his life that he gave it's owner a lot of money. Maneki neko statue meanings are different depending on which hand is raised, color, and so on, but they generally are for good luck and prosperity. Ghost cats are very different than maneki neko. There are different kinds of supernatural cats, but they seem to be youkai that bewitch humans, or ghosts of cats killed by humans that seek revenge. I hope this helps!

As a Westerner, I don’t always think of ghosts as a negative thing. I mostly want to help any earth-bound spirit that hasn’t been able to cross over and move on with their soul’s evolution. I do believe there are more malevolent ghosts or spirits, but I also believe that people who die suddenly or in a horrific way can become temporarily disillusioned and stuck on the earthly plane. For the past six years, I’ve been a student of shamanic practices and spiritual healing in general. I have been getting visions of myself later in life, helping people gracefully transition as a death doula. Many earth-bound spirits don’t even realize they’re dead; the transition of death can be a very disorientating and confusing thing. I know I’m not quite ready to take up such a profession, but I’d love to be able to help people make their peace as they transition from this incarnation. I’m really enjoying your videos. Sending you guys lots of love ❤️
