I love Kosmic's ardent insistence to show off obscure glitches in these hacks, mainly because it's always something that would look pretty tame to the layperson but he always gets really excited about it. It's funny and wholesome

Usually while I'm ok with a Kosmic "let's randomly stop in the middle of this hack to do a random glitch" or two I usually just want to see him explore the hacks... but in this case every single 'stop for exhibition' was so wild, fun, funny, weird, and this hack was so full of so many opportunities for so many weird and cool ones, this is definitely the best hack for it lol

(23:13) I think I know what you intended to show there before you died to the hidden Piranha Plant. If you hit a block that has an enemy or power up above it that gets bumped, then the block loses all solidity to anything else, including yourself, until its bump animation finishes. So, I bet you would've bumped the Koopa, then jumped up through the block to escape during the brief time it was non-solid during its animation. (Also, as a result of this strange interaction, if you attempt to hit a block that has two or more bumpable sprites atop it, one of them will likely fall through the block and land on your head.)

Yeah i was going to try and make one of the enemies fall through. Is it really true that you yourself can jump through it? I definitely wouldn't have been able to here, since you're too far away, but I didn't know that was a thing at all

I like those levels with Toads and castle tiles, it's like a Toad village and I've always thought it'd be an interesting idea for a level theme in these games. Anything that breaks away from grasslands/desert/water/sky/lava is cool to me.

This may or may not be interesting, but: Last weekend, I had a thought. How fast could someone beat all of the Super Mario games in a row, assuming perfect execution and no restrictions whatsoever? To find this time, I added up the any% world records of all 18 of the games featured in your marathon and jan Misali's list. This does include credits warps, and I know you did warpless in a few games, but this is how fast you can beat it with no restrictions whatsoever. When you add up all of the records, what do you get? A day? 20 hours? The answer: 12 hours, 42 minutes, 15 seconds. This means, assuming you had perfect execution, you could boot up SMB at midnight, and finish SMO before lunchtime.

@Kosmic: In 7-3 you saw the unused collor palate of the castle 1-up mushroom, because in the normal Super mario bros. including Lost level their is never a 1-up mushroom in castle. Because poision mushroom are white collor in castle to match the white of goombas, the 1-up mushroom in castle them would look like the overworld poision mushroom.

That's not what it would look like in the vanilla game. This game has altered piranha plant colors (darker). The 1-up matches that.

@@Kosmicd12 The 1-up mushroom does not match the collor pallets of piranha plant, in the under ground level the piranha plant are blue unless you meant the buttom of the stem, underground 1-up mushroom are dark brown with blue spot. I look back at that part of the video and the 1-up mushroom does not match the piranha plant collor, and also in the vanilla game it is unknown what collor pallete the 1-up mushroom would used since non of it appear in castle level.

@@Kosmicd12 I remember that I have an emulator and a Rom of Super mario bros. so I just went in a castle got a fire flower to spond and with the Hex editor change it to a 1-up mushroom to see what it look like, it look the same as the underground 1-up mushroom.
