With it being your last, I wanted to drop in and say how much I've been enjoying these Daima videos over the past two months. It's rare I find myself tuning in to other people's animation content as it seldom offers me anything new, but you've developed such a unique flavour to your breakdowns that I've walked away each week taking away newfound appreciation for many elements. They've been a delight and I hope you're really proud of them. Hope you enjoy time away and wish you the best of luck in the future! P.S. Sorry Askon and I's back and forth booru changes over the Sasaki scene made you alter your script lol we were trying to work it out and, as you also did, clocked the elements that pointed to Sasaki rather than Manabe in the end.

Thank you Ajay. I was a bit out of my depth when I first jumped into the animation side of Dragon Ball, but I'm happy that over the years I've been able to find my own voice to channel my love for this medium. But it's also impart to your nuanced perspective and insight found through your videos, that played a part in getting me so interested in it all in the first place! So I'm very grateful for that. I also feel like there's still so much misunderstanding around this medium, as well a general lack of appreciation for it, so I'm happy that you will still be around! It definitely will be nice on my end as well to watch your breakdowns and not have to think about making my own anymore. And all good about the booru confirmation haha. Didn't have to alter much :) All the best and thanks again for the well wishes!

@@forgottenrelics1197 This feels crazy bc I started getting interested in animation with the whole dbs episode 5 fiasco and Totally Not Mark’s top 10 worst and best animated moments of each arc of super. Then I got into AnimeAjay’s vids and kept up with the weekly dbs animation recaps until he went on a break and started working with Mark full time. Your videos were a godsend when Ajay went on hiatus. I liked the variety of stuff you covered and the sense of humor. I’m still a fan of you both and I’m glad to see both of you guys do well. The scale of this fight felt colossal! The direction and animation were blown out of the water. Shida's segment stole the show, but I'm really excited to see more from this new rising star of Dragon Ball, Yohei Sasaki! I really love your analysis. The colors in the kamehameha front shot were mesmerizing. Reminded me of those metalic effects on the collector cards I used to have as a kid. @amirkenan117 күн бұрын
This fight was near perfection to me and it blew my mind. Wasn’t expecting something like this out of DB. The animation was top notch throughout, choreography was perfect mainly because of how balanced the combat was - grounded hand to hand as well as weapon based combat, great ki/magic attacks, clever usage of the environment, variety of angles and superb camera movement, great sense of scale through the boards and destruction, the visuals also served the narrative and the great compositing also helped to convey that, even the digital CG effects were good and complemented the already incredible effects, like the smoke violently blasting off against the Tamagami. The timing was great, every cut flowed into next seamlessly, nothing felt like wasted padding, everything was so well executed. Top notch direction as a whole, it’s not just the animation. The only thing that’s left to be desired to me was the length, it was great but I wish it would’ve been like a minute or two longer, but that’s me being greedy. 9.5/10

Honestly it's kinda sad to know we won't be getting peak animation breakdown content consistently for who knows how long, but at least we went out with a bang. I do hope if possible once the new year is under way and you get adjusted to your new schedule we could get some monthly videos instead of weekly like we have been getting. Doesn't necessarily have to be daima related, could be whatever you find interesting to talk about (basically what the content was before Daima dropped) who knows maybe finally we get that Gurren Lagann video (all jokes of course) But regardless of what happens, while I am sad it's ending I'm even more happy and proud to have gone through this and seen it all. These videos were of the best of it's class, definitely will come back for rewatches later on

Thanks again man! Definitely put a lot of energy in so I'm happy to hear that. And funny enough was thinking the same about maybe trying to get stuff out monthly? Sasaki and Otsuka were definitely the highlight for me and of course Shida doing his usual Shida’s thing which is always great. If there was one problem I had with the episode was that the storyboarding in the second half was a little bit flat at times it’s not as bad compared to something like episode five which was both flat and claustrophobic though here it is still a little noticeable

the battle is so good not only because of the animation, but also because Goku is a child, and that allows for this type of choreography, and people still complain about them being turned into a child.
@Legion84916 күн бұрын
People are justified that turning the whole cast into kids is nothing but cheap nostalgia bait for the original Dragon Ball. You can stop the damage control
@pensandoemalgo.572216 күн бұрын
@Legion849 Literally just the Goku we saw as a child, there is no nostalgia involved with the others being children. And people are more angry about it because it's "GT 2", since the idea of becoming a child was always the only idea that Akira gave for GT, and Toei did it in the worst possible way, so Akira just took it from This idea comes back and he's doing it the right way now, he always wanted to do this idea.

Cant agree. But it might just be style since I think Takahashi Buu-like style is peak along with Masunaga off model or Z-styling Kubota. In the end it may be that I just don't like the rounded look. I did rewatch Goku v Jiren on saturday to compare. 130 has clunky bits, but over all because it was longer I was more invested relative to Tamagami.

I think the rim lighting changes on the character reflecting more of what is in the bg is due to them using a duplicate of the bg and matting it to the characters (which are resized as a matte to be smaller). Certainly effective but actually very simple. I have been working as a compositor for over 4 years now, so I see their tricks haha

I think Karasawa's style is inherently "robotic"/kinda "mechanical" which isn't bad & honestly would fit somethin like the Tamagami perfectly imo however on more organic/humanoid characters it looks kinda off. The game they played reminded me of the 1 from HxH when Gon is tryin to get Killua back so I loved that a lot. I believe I said this last time too but these have truly been so fun & informative. I loved all these vids so much & I'm sad u couldn't be there for Daima the entire way but it's so good it was on ended 1 of the best DB eps ever. When it comes to Yuichi Karasawa's animations, I feel like it works with Dragon Ball, the quick movement without any pause, for me at least, make the characters look like the martial artists they claim to be, they're fast and can execute moves without pausing, as if they read the enemy's movement and thought out what they have to do next in just a microsecond and immediately goes back on the offensive. Then again, I don't know much about animation, but for me, his work works wonderfully for Dragon Ball.

its excellent aye! the animator behind it did do key animation here and there on Super, so you can find some similar stuff stylistically to it there. but nothing as lengthy as this from memory.

I really hope that from now on Dragonball will be seasonal.

This was "just" a "mini Boss" fight. We have still Tamagami 2 and 1 AND probably a all vs all fight (where Piccolo, Goku, Shin, Vegeta etc. will fight against the antagonist) and THE then probably the 1v1 climax of the series. Now Imagine how the pinnacle of this series will look like.

I hope there also will be a creative fight against Gomah. Would be amazing if they had him do some creative magic stuff. Babidi for example teleporting everyone to different planets to fight was also pretty interesting in the Buu arc. Maybe something like that, but with its own twist.
