The business model regarding individual personal "Golf instructor Lessons" is REPEAT CUSTOMERs. Why would they want you to get better ? They are experts at human behaviour manipulation. This channel is about knowledge. This is why, in my opinion, this is one of the best learning venues. Awesome job Jonathan. Thank you.

This is a statement I’ve heard time and time again as a golf coach and I can assure you it’s not even remotely true. The fact is a scarily large portion of coaches have very little knowledge about the swing, as the main coaching certifications are more concerned with producing shop keepers rather than successful and skilled instructors. There very well may be a few individuals with the intent you’re describing (who should have they’re certifications taken away from them), but I can assure you as a golf coach of many years and having worked with many other coaches,we all have a passion to make you better at this incredibly hard sport. Finding the right instructor and the correct approach to practice, I can assure you that you will improve.

This video has about 100x less views than what it should have but the the click bait, quick solution, nature of our attention spans nowadays make the other videos more viewed. Thanks for this. I’ve spent so much time and money on coaching and practice TO NO AVAIL. I think you’ve addressed the problem here. Comes down to practicing effectively, not just mindlessly hitting balls full swing.

The long term outlook is something that is hard to come to terms with but once you do, it makes golf more enjoyable. You really need to look at your improvements over a year or more to keep motivated. It takes a long time! So many golfers never practice correctly or enough and wonder why they never get better!

Thanks for being honest. Most of us are not going to spend 6 months on a swing change that may or may not work for us. Saved me some money on lessons.

No lessons isn’t the answer. Lessons from a good coach with proper practice and expectation levels is.

Great video! How do you balance doing almost exclusively drills at the range and having a functional swing that you can score with on the course?

My questions, how do i find a good instructor.?

Jonathan how do we get the 20% off the lessons? I don’t see it on the skillest site. Thx!

Hey JK. Unfortunately I’ve pulled the sale due to being close to my workload capacity, so the sell wouldn’t be wise for me right now as I wouldn’t be able to upload make/ upload for KZbin videos for next few weeks if I get overloaded from a sale. I’ve still absolutely got room for extra students, just not for an amount that will come from a sale at this given time 👍🏼

May I make a point about your reason No. 3? The older you get, the more time you need to ingrain a swing change in your muscle memory and your mind.

I'm finding that hitting balls into a net with no indication as to where the ball is going can be detrimental to my game. I played today and I was hooking all my iron shots big time. How can you be sure the ball is going where it's supposed to be going when you are hitting into a net?

In most cases, worrying about where the ball goes when you are working on your mechanics is harmful. Just get the movement right and you can fix path and clubface later. It’s interesting how hard it is to manipulate the golf club when you flip, or swing with your upper body first. When you get the main movements right, you can self organize path and clubface with intent pretty easily. Also if you really want to see where you are hitting, use practice balls.

I think if the student is given better expectations from doing drills(x drills = x result + x time). At least id what the baseline is, did it fix your issue, and is it translating into your play or all of your clubs. Plus, players have unrealistic expectations. You are not going to get washboard abs only doing 25 situps a day.

If your pro isn't talking about your takeaway or your backswing, they'd better have a darn good explanation. The vast majority of swing issues in the downswing are caused by issues in the takeaway or backswing. Your early extension, OTT, or casting is likely a symptom, not the fault.

I had several lessons that didn’t help anything, because the teachers gave absolutely useless advice. I learned about the golf swing in order to make it better myself. That’s going great. Guys like Jonathan, AMG, Zen Swing Mechanic, and others give better advice than any of these garbage club pros or top golf instructors. Learn enough and you’ll be able to see your faults when you record yourself. I went from shooting 130 - 140 to an 87 in 1 year by watching a few hundred golf videos and hitting plastic practice balls in the back yard.
